Is it just me or Infamous repetitive and overrated?

Yes, the game sucks. I tried to play it on 2 occasions. Couldn't last longer then 20 minutes. So I cracked the game in 2 and dumped it down the garbage disposal.

You couldn't last more than 20 minutes?! That's what she said!

Same, the two things which annoyed the crap out of me were:
1.)The main lightning attack is semi-auto which requires clicking the button ten thousand times in the course of a play through. I wish you could hold it down for short bursts of full auto at a slower fire rate then can be achieved by mashing the button.
2.)Having to recharge batteries in sparsely powered areas by shooting conductive material, sucking power, shooting it again, sucking more power, shooting it again, sucking again, etc. to get to a full charge.

An open world game which I actually wanted to see and did most everything was Saint's Row 2 which is amazing considering it had zero trophy support as extra incentive. Since I loved that game so much I was pretty disappointed how quickly I got bored with Red Faction Guerrilla (also made by Volition).

I loved inFamous, its one of my favorite open world games, along with crackdown. Both of which came out with little to no hype.

When I got bored in RF:G all I did was take a big dump truck through random buildings for fun(and to collect some scrap metal to grab new weapons with). Of course, that ended up getting the EDF on my ass more often than not, but I always had a few charges ready to annihilate them with once I had enough of a convoy of them chasing me. The best was how you could stick a charge to an EDF soldier and watch him run back and forth screaming his head off and then detonate it once he got back by the other soldiers.

One thing that irked me about the game though was how you could get to the top of a mountain, see that there's another valley on the other side you could get into, but you're stopped by an invisible wall from going another 4-5 feet down into the new valley.

Thats long enough for me. I want to get back to gaming, internet, tv, etc. :) lol

I played through inFamous twice for the story, so I did enjoy myself. However, I think that Cole is a little underpowered in the game. Usually in open world games you become OMWTF powered at the end of the game, yet I did not get that feeling with Cole. He just wan't an unstoppable force of destruction at the end. IT may have something to do with the crappy AI who would shoot you from blocks away if they could see you.

Prototype game me a much better sense of power than inFamous.
While comparing two exclusives, you are comparing two entirely different things. I enjoyed both, however one was a movie with some action sequences (game play) and the other was non-stop blowing up things. It depends on your mindset.

Actually, I thought MGS4 was given far too much praise as a "game". While I agree MGS4 was very good, I felt like I spent far more time watching movies than playing the game.

The side missions in Infamous did get repetitive, but you did not need to do them to finish the game.
to be honest i wasnt really comparing the two. i was merely stating that i got bored with infamous and traded it for mgs (which i havent even played yet). never been much for open worrld games, i need a sense of direction that they dont offer.

The game was fun for me but yes, like any sandbox game it is repetitive in nature. Though what really pissed me off was that there was no major difference between the "Good" story arc and "Evil" story arc. I noticed that with Sucker Punch and the Sly games they went down hill. The first Sly game was 70% platforming 30% mini-games. The second Sly game was about 50% platforming 50% mini-games. The third one seemed to be many puzzle games and repetitive Sandbox missions that I did not get very far in it. Hopefully Sucker Punch can find better things to do than make mini-games in Infamous 2.

I have to agree with the "open sandbox is boring eventally" thing.. Compare Infamous to the other Open sandbox games and I think it stands up well (count me in on the prefer it over prototype people). But when compared to other games I like.. its was (again already mentioned) fun for the first 4-6 hours, then it was the same over and over (ALL (OSB=Open Sand Box) games are). I'm sure I will pick up Infamous2 when its not full price. OSB games are the new FPS, everybody wants to make one and they are all sorta starting to blend togther and seem the same.

More games like DEMONS SOULS please.. even if the are just new maps! I can take that kind of repations any day.
