Is it me or does anyone else here think this Gas Holiday is a bad idea?
As if returning to the gold standard is some mainstay of American conservatism?
Depends on how you define American conservatism.

For some facets of the movement it is a very big deal, Big T is apparently willing to excommunicate any Conservatives who do not fervently believe in the gold standard.

A few things:

(1) Bmull, you're so full of it your eyes are brown. Myke's post had nothing to do with race, unless you consider illegal aliens a "race" which they are not. Quit putting words in people's mouths.

(2) The PAT (Port Authority Transit) bus system in pittsburgh is SICK! Sure, it may have more lower income patrons than a Mercedes dealership, but they're not "undesirables" IMO.

(3) I really don't know enough about the gold standard debate to have an argument about it, but is it really an issue worth debating? Nobody talks about it anymore; it's not exactly a hot button issue or anything that can/will be changed anytime soon.

And you need a reading tutor. Myke's post had everything to do with calling BigT a racist. Now he's trying to weasel out of it and claim I'm attacking him. How can I be putting the words in his mouth when they come from his own?

(to Big T) I like the fact that your first point about how lousy public transportation is centers around the idea that categories of 'undesirable' people you don't like use it....

There are plenty of categories of "undesirables" that aren't linked to ascribed traits. BigT, in fact, mentions two of them: illegal aliens and the poor. Now you can certainly make the claim that in general in this country, but particularly in the southwest US, "illegal alien" is a proxy for "anyone Latino," and I'd agree.
So, he "knows" BigT is talking about latinos, and he "knows" BigT's aversion to public transportation is because these people are the most frequent riders. Linking the cause and effect, Myke is directly implying that BigT hates latinos, and therefore hates buses because latinos ride them. It's a completely absurd argument and it put words in BigT's mouth that weren't there. If anybody deserves an apology for being attacked, it's Mr. T.

I won't ask for one from you, Pizza, because I understand your pre-existing condition with observing reality.

If there is no way to veto this then yes it is a bad idea. basically they are talking about us stocking up on gas while it is at a low price. Imagine me and my freinds going to the pump with a oil tanker ( three trucks with egg carrier type of tankers )
and then going home thinking oh wow I just saved money.

The same is with Metrocard rates. In general you are spending a just amount no matter how much you spend you wil allways have to pay more. Those who can't afford Metrocards will lose out most of the time.

In this case those who can't avoid spending gas during these holidays will lose out.

Think of it like this picture below

Remember what Lisa did. She made up some kind of fake words and the people all beleived her. This gas holiday is all a big political scam that even a door mouse could get by. We are seriously boned

AND YOU ARE TRYING TO POINT OUT I'M IN THE WRONG BY PUTTING WORDS IN MY MOUTH THAT WEREN'T fuckING THERE.

Christ, that was a pisspoor attempt, even for you. You make me feel like I should take my political opinions somewhere else instead of debating amongst simple-minded rabble like yourself.

I expected better out of you; I apologize for the error.

No apology needed... :D ... altough I'm sure the myke suspects that I subconsiously have something against blacks, latinos, the poor, homosexuals, illegal aliens, the elderly, the mentally ill, criminals, and the homeless (plus any other disadvantaged groups I may have missed ;)), I didn't get the sense that he overtly implied that in his post. :D

Just to clear the air, I don't take the bus because my 3 places of work are either:
1. A 10 minute walk from my apartment.
2. A 5-10 minute drive (it would take me 10 minutes just to walk to the nearest bus stop).
3. A 25 minute- 1 hour drive to a somewhat shady part of town, where it would take me a couple of hours to get to by bus.

Plus, with unpredicatable hours, waiting for a bus to show up or taking one at night would not be fun... ;) I have used employee shuttles between different locations a couple of times... does that count? :)
