Is McCain's Ads Using Code while Attacking Obama?
I put lots of things in my Jeep, including my kids.

What does it matter which model I drive and my kids' ages? Do I sense a "gotcha" coming up?
Just because I've bitten dmaul's head a dozen times or so over cars doesn't mean I'm going to bite your head off.

The model of Jeep tells me whether you have a cloth or a plastic/steel shell over the sides and top of the vehicle. Cloth, of course, isn't very good protection against a car accident.

The age of your kids tells me whether you're using car seats or not. My wife still drives a station wagon because my son is still in a car seat and she has bad memories of sticking our daughter in the back of a 2-door Escort.

Once a child is in a booster seat and able to follow simple commands such "Get in the car" and "Buckle yourself in", the amount of room needed in a back seat is practically nil until said child is out of a booster seat.

Electric cars might be an answer, but it still is a ways off. And adoption for electric motor recharge stations is even further off. And reducing the amount of time an electric motor would recharge is a long ways off too. It sounds silly to even talk about it as a solution if a rechargable AA battery takes a couple of hours to recharge. Imagine how long it'd take something like that to charge.

And no, I'm not for Hydrogen powered cars either. I'm sure the Germans would be against something like that too.
Fair enough. Grand Cherokee hardtop, and the kids are teens.
Then, you need a backseat and you have some protection in an accident.

With that said, pickup trucks can be very good conversions without sacrificing storage in the bed. If you can fit three people comfortably, it might be adequate for you.

These issues are what prolonged the debate from a months back.

In reality, a 1000kg lead acid battery pack takes 8 hours of charging.

If you accept an electric car as a daily commuter vehicle, there are no issues and the cost of said vehicle is on par with a 40MPG vehicle without it necessarily being a subcompact.

If the electric car must be a full replacement for vehicles in any capacity, a hydrogen (with an energy density of 1kWh/kg) parallel generator paired with a 40-60 mile battery pack with plug-in capabilities might fit the bill.
