I joined the Gamecube show late and recently went on a quest to find a new copy of the first Pikmin. It took me quite a few stores before I found one ... I was surprised that such a popular Player's Choice game was OOS everywhere. Can anyone else vouch for it being hard to find?

(I know the 2nd is superior because of the removed time limit: I'm starting small)

a lot of people favor the first due to the time limit.

Yeah, there was a point of about five months where I wanted to buy a copy of it, and the only place that had it was EB with a chewed up case and no manual. I ended up finding a new copy of it at a local store and traded a few games for it. It's really bizzare that they don't have it all over the place.

I HATE buying USED games for a still active system. IF its dead and i can't find the game new anymore, ok used then...

I agree with ITDEFX. I've managed to stay away from used games for all current-gen systems and I suppose I'd like to keep it that way. The $8 difference between a new Pikmin and an old Pikmin isn't all that big to me, and the additional money is worth it to not have to deal with inspecting the disc and making sure the case and manual are clean.

Random sidenote:
I did buy Ikaruga used after searching for it new for a while. I was fairly happy with the condition of the game, but then found it new in a store the next day, so the used one went back.

Used games are not worth it. Usually, you'll save no more than $5, maybe $10.

Besides, I cannot stand for my games, disc or case, to have even one single scratch.

Heh, but buying used, $10 can be a second game. I understand the hesitation cause I'm picky as well, but considering I've probably saved over a hundred dollars (low estimate) this year buying used, its hard to pass up. Pikmin is actually one I will probably be picking up next week with the B2G1F.

You people are crazy. Who cares if the game case is scratched? As long as the game works nothing else matters...

For alot of Nintendo games this is not true. Nintendo has a hAbit of rarely ever dropping prices on their first party games. So buying used will save you alot of cash in that area.

If you think it's hard to find Pikmin new, try to find one in non-PC version, sealed. I found the last one I could find among hundred of PC version copies when this game was still readily available new.

True, it took me about a year to find a sealed non PC copy. I found mine at Hastings. You might also try Circuit City or a store that doesn't have its inventory turn over too much such as K-mart.

I'm still looking for both Pikmin 1 & 2 used in great shape and price but I'm not getting the Players Choice title since I prefer the original packaging...

as for Pikmin 2 its still sells for $50 new :(

That's supposed to be the idea but rarely are used game prices that great. Most used games are $5 less than the new price.

I used to think that trading in games towards used games was great. Now I think of all the money I threw away. Just for the hell of it, I asked about the trade in value of two games today: I was offered $7 for SCCT (GC) and $11 for TimeSplitters 3 yet they were reselling the games for $30 and $35, respectively.

I only buy new from retailers now and if I get used copies, I find copies that are in excellent shape. Hey, might as well get the most out of my money, right?:)

You'd be hard pressed to find any copy of Pikmin 1 (much less a non-PC copy) at Circuit City, considering Pikmin was one of the titles in the CC $5 sale from July '04.
