Is PixelPipelines or Memory Interface more important when choosing a graphics card?

i'm in the market for a new one (between $100-$150) and are currently looking at two different cards. one has 8 PP and 2560bit MI. the other has 12PP and 128bit MI.

It depends. Higher resolutions and/or anti-aliasing will perform better with the higher memory performance of a 256bit interface.

It would be much easier to give advice if you just told us which two cards you were considering.

well it's kind of too late since i already ordered the x1600 pro and it's being shipped. but here were the two i was considering:

MSI Radeon X1600PRO RX1600PRO:

XFX Geforce 6800XT:

like i said, i ended up going with the x1600 pro sinec it did not require it's own power supply and it had more pipelines (slighly slower memory clock and, like i said, lower interface). think i made the right move?

my PC's current specs are:
P4 3.4gHz w/HT
1024 Mb SDRAM PC3200
Radeon x300 SE PCI-E 128 Mb

i will probably upgrade the ram sometime this year too (if not the whole mechine).

bread's done
