Hey I have a question do computers get messed up if you burn to many CDs at once? For example if I burn 30 cds 10 songs each CD in one day one after the other, can that cause a problem to the computer?
 
everything breaks down with wear. 30 cds in a row shouldnt hurt it, hell i think ive done more. but doing that much day in and day out the burner could give after awhile
 
I'm not the one burning the CDs, I have an uncle who always comes over to my house and burn CDs(he doesn't have a PC).

I just wanted to know if that would do anything serious so I can tell him that if my computer gets busted he will have to buy me a new one. Whats the worst that can happen to a computer with burning too many CDs at once? Also, is there something that I can do to disable the burner to tell my uncle that my computers burner is out? I want him to feel guilty, he comes over with bags of CDs. I want him to think that because he spent hours on my PC burning CDs, that he caused my burner to go out. He doesn't know anything about computers btw.
 
Computer parts are pretty rugged. I have one computer I've burned thousands of cds on it easily, and its still running like a champ with original parts after 5 years.

Just make him burn mp3 cds if your so worried about wear and tear.
 
Of course to disable right click on my computer - properties - hardware - device manager - look for your hardware and click disable !

Or just open it up all computers have an easy way of accessing it's insides so if you don't know don't worry about it just find the way and unplug the cable for a while you should be able to tell what cable !

Maybe he's burning copies of some garage bands CD, hence the "10 tracks per CD"? And if they ARE copyrighted, who gives a shit? Master P has a gold tank. Well, you've got to consider the cloud of carcinogenic particles that emanate from the drive when it spits out a finished disc. So the problem may take care of itself.

Alternately, you could suggest your uncle purchase an external drive and put the wear and tear on that. Make sure it represents a significant upgrade while you're at it. The Samsung 20X units are pretty nice.

My mistake, burning CDs is when you take songs from the computer and pass them to a CD. I meant importing songs from a CD to the computer. Is that what its called importing?

My uncle "imports" the songs from his CD collection into my computer. He does about 30 CDs at once. Can this damage the computer?
 
Not a problem at all. When I was ripping my CDs to MP3, I often had 3 optical drives cranking away for 6-8 hours at a time, several days in a row. All 3 drives are still working fine 4 years later.

Thank you so much. I finally got this "mooch" of my ass.
That worked perfect. He came in and placed a CD in the CD tray, and nothing happend. We heard the disk spinning, but thats it. It didn't load or anything. He was like :hot: . I said my friend told me importing/ripping too many CDs is bad for the computer. I told him I would have to call the technician pay him for labor, plus for whatever parts. He just looked at me :hot: .

Why the hell was your uncle importing songs onto your computer? It's not like he's going to come to your house and listen to the music, is he? This whole thing seems really fishy to me.
 
He was using an external harddrive that he bought, all the songs went there. He used my computer to import/rip CDs into the harddrive, then into his iPod. He didn't come daily, he came over once every two weeks.
He says he will pay for whatever it costs to fix the problem, so I will end up getting a few bucks.
