Region as well. Depending where you buy. If you're in the US, white is only available overseas so you wont be able to watch US UMD movies

Having owned both, I can say that the D-pad AND buttons are both raised a lot, making it control just like the pS2 controller.

As for the brightness, it depends on which model of black you own. I compared mine with a bunch at GS and found that some were much dimmer than the white PSP, others were just slightly dimmer.

you can't play region 1 UMDs.

I personally think the raised buttons make it worth the extra dough. I can't ever play a black one again...it just sucks horribly (no offense to people who own them.) Then again, I'm a big fighting game fan, so I might be a bit more sensitive to these kinds of things.

I'm looking to buy a white ceramic PSP from Play-asia and wanted to know which was the newest version. The only white ceramic one that I see available for them is PSP-1000 CW.

And Apossum: do you if the battery life on both PSPs are the same? Does the White PSP come with a 1800 MAh or 2200 MAh battery?

now i have a quick question.....my french cousin is looking to bring back a US PSP back to his country. Now i know they are region free but does that include PAL?

Yes it includes PAL. I have Tales of Eternia (Euro) version and it plays fine on my PSP. PAL really isn't an issue because its a TV standard and the PSP is not a TV and doesn't officially connect to one.

Anyways I have a White PSP (came with 2.0) and I've compared it to the later Black PSP's (came with 2.6). I've noticed the new black one has the fixed square button. It's much more responsive then my White PSP. I've never had mine get jammed like some others though.
