Is there a PSTwo Price Drop?

Indiana

CAGiversary!
Has anyone heard if there will be a PSTwo price drop before Christmas? I have seen some articles predicting it but all the BF ads have the system listed at full price.
It will, but I dont see it happening in the next couple months unless its a temorary holiday sale.
Well of course it will. But he was asking if it would happen before Christmas.

It's not looking good, I guess the drop isn't going to happen until Jan or Feb. The interesting thing is that all the stores I have been at have tons of PS2 and Xbox systems. Only the 360 seems to be selling this year.

You know that is weird. I think Sony is just trying to get every dollar they can at the $150 price point and people don't need more PS2's. Pretty much everyone who ever wanted one has one by now. It took the Playstation one 3 years to reach $99. The PS2 has been out for over 5 now and has only dropped 50 bucks in the last 2 years.

i just picked up my first ps2 on friday (double reward zone pts for it).....i NEVER expected the slim to be the size of a child's book! :O very impressive as I could loose this sucker easily if it wasn't for its tiny red/green light.
Well, whenever t drops, I am picking up a slim one to replace my big bulky one.
so heres how im trying to get a cheap one.

i noticed kohls now sells a bundle with extra controller and a couple games, priced at a mere $249.
so i found the bundle elsewhere at $190, im going to price match that,
get a 30% coupon there should be some out in the next couple ads, and use my wifes discount, should ring in somewhere just under $100

I, too, was shocked. It weighs about the same, too.

i work at an elemetary school so i noticed this VERY quickly. :)

Once they nullfied the empty space of the "expansion port" (an HD sized area of nothing), removed the disc drive motor and slide assembly and took out the power supply and fan, you're left with a smallish (overheating) motherboard, a disc motor and a laser.

I'm surprised they didn't do this sooner :p

however, i like having my network adapter + HD in my PS2.

The network support is built in, however I didn't know about the lack of HD compatibility when I bought my slim, and had I known, I probably would've gotten an older model.

Since there are only like 3 games that support the Hard Drive I don't think you are missing much.

It will, but not this coming Christmas.

I will be FUMMING if the price goes down to 100 bucks, as I just bought it for 150. Nov 25th no less. so unless it hits less than 150 before the 25th...then im screwed.

As there's no real competition facing the PS2 (since the Cube is all but dead this holiday and the 360 is sold out practically everwhere with some minor shipments coming in) I don't think we'll be seeing a price drop anytime soon.

My guess is that the drop will take place when the 360 is in ready supply - or sometime next spring at the earliest.

I like using my HDLoader. Granted, I have to use my original game discs for online play, the HDLoader certainly is a nice feature to have.

I'd guess that Sony won't drop the PS2 until MS drops the Xbox and even then they may wait a bit before reacting. (They've shown they are willing to stand alone as the most expensive console in this gen in the past.)

But I've also read some reports that the Xbox will perhaps never reach the $100 price point, since MS is supposedly already losing a good bit at $150. And since I've also heard they aren't making any more Xboxes...

So maybe Sony has also concluded MS will never lower the Xbox to $100 and now they are just weighing when the best time is for them to drop it down. I think the PS1 sold a very healthy percent of it's current base at the $100 price point, so I would expect a ton of PS2s to sell when they do make that drop.

I didn't get my PS1 until the price dropped to $100.
I didn't get my Gamecube until the price dropped to $100.
I didn't get my DS until I got a BB coupon deal that scored one at $100.

Put simply: I ain't paying over $100 for a console. Period.

I've been waiting for the PS2 to drop to $100 for awhile. I can still wait. The games I wanna play on the system will always be there. (Especially if CAG is still around to help me find them.)

Patience, young Jedi.

 I am waiting patiently because I want to pick up a slim one but I will enjoy my fat progressive scan one until I can get the slim one for a hundred or lower. I just like the way the smaller one takes up less space.

I work at CC, and have been waiting for the PS2 to drop too. But I do have to say that we continue to sell the PS2 very strong as is.

Any word on a price drop of the PSTwo now?

I received some gift cards burning a hole in my pocket and I didn't get a PS2 for christmas. The best deal was definately the $119.99 at Meijer deal but that is over now.

(I would think that Best Buy will have a sale soon, they had 2 huge pallets with about 100 + systems on each that were not selling at all.)

:bomb: This subject strikes a nerve since I've been waiting for the price of PS2s to go down since my old, huge PS2 is slowly biting the dust. I've taken it in for repairs a couple times, but I think it's just plain wearing out. Especially since it makes some characters sound like Max Headroom during cut-scenes, and takes almost 2-3X as long to load up a disc as my friend's old PS2. I'm kinda leery about buying a "factory-reconditioned" PS2 even though it's cheaper than a brand new one.
