I have an airport extreme in my dorm room and would much rather use a wireless card for my 360 rather than run an ethernet cable. I am looking for quality and good value.

I use the wireless receiver for the original xbox and I think any usb wireless receiver will work but I could be wrong.

I dunno if this is possible with a Mac, which I assume you have since you have Airport, but with XP and Vista you can connect the 360 to the PC via ethernet cable, bridge the connections, and have it piggy back off of that wireless PC/Laptop.

it is. I hook up my xbox to my macbook to get Live going(to a cisco wireless router)

Just go to  > System Pref > Sharing > Check Internet Sharing. To find out your ip address just open terminal & type ifconfig.

for the people that are very cheap they just run a cable from their desktop or laptop to the xbox to share the wireless. its simple and effective. I believe there is a thread on cag about using a 40$ WRT54G router as a bridge. It requires another power plug but it still saves u 60$.

I do that now with the laptop, But I hate having the laptop on for 10 hours at a time. Plus It doesnt help the electricity bill at all. Which is why I want to get a cheap USB adapter. If those cheap O Adapters do work, please let me know. I'll pick one up asap if it does work.

The only USB adapter that works is the MS adapter.

Any other "adapter" would connect to the Ethernet port and be a network bridge. No other way around it.

Yeah it is entirely possible but that would be silly because if I wanted to use an cable I could simply plug directly into the airport extreme...

the old Xbox 1 wireless adapter works, but doesn't support WPA, only WEP. If that's not a big deal to you, then go for it if you can find one. Why Microsoft can't include WiFi on the Xbox is beyond me. Its not like people wouldn't pay for the convenience.

There's a way to flash it to make it work with WPA, but I didn't want to try it and brick the adapter.

the original xbox one works and so does the Pelican 3rd party one and the nyko net extender you also use just about any wireless bridge that plugs into an ethernet port

but for 100% compatability you pretty much need the MS adapter
