Is this a deal for a premium 360 or no??

CAGiversary!
I found someone selling a 360 on craigslist.com and this is the deal.

300 dollars for a premium xbox 360 (Wireless controller, hard drive, headset) + MLB 2K7.

I asked him when he bought it and when it was manufactured this is what I got for the answer:

- 10/19/2006 it was manufactured.
- I bought it 1/8/2007
- I have the original box

Is this a good deal? How do I make sure i'm not getting cheated? Is there a chance it will break? What else should I know/ask him? I figured it was a good deal because that is about 480 dollars worth of stuff right there.....

There's no way of saying if it'll break... that's a good chance it'll break but it's still a small minority.

Ask him if he has a receipt. If you don't have proof of purchase, then you can't claim the warranty.

Thats actually entirely wrong. I purchased my 360 off of Craigslist, without a box or any proof of original purchase. When it broke 6 months later, Microsoft replaced it without any problems. They asked me when I bought it and I told them, and that was that. You don't need the receipt.

Make sure it's not banned from Xbox Live either. I've seen some fruitballs in OC trying to sell modded consoles without ever informing buyers that you can no longer go on Live.

^ That's exactly what I was going to warn the buyer about.

If it's a local sale, then try to arrange a time and place to test the console and its online capabilities if possible. I know that may be hard, but you don't want to get screwed if you're looking to play online.

That's what else im worried about because when Halo 3 comes out I know i'm going to play my cousin and friends from Pittsburgh all the time. Same thing with NCAA football 07. Only thing is I really don't want to go to some random dudes house to play xbox 360. That's how I get my skin turned into a lampshade...........:whistle2:#

You must also:

1. Submit proof of purchase in the form of a bona fide, dated bill of sale, receipt, or invoice (or a copy) evidencing that your request for service is made within the Warranty Period.

Either you got lucky or you had one which was manufactured late enough to apply for their 1 year warranty (so proof of purchase would be kinda pointless).

Ya it is always good to find a great deal , for 360 , but sometimes you will never know if its worth the buy intell you buy it and find out
soo

You could take the chance and save the 100 dollars

could be a really good deal and the 360 plays great or it could have a glitch or poublem wrong with it , and you lose all your money

Aha.. I assume that's a Leatherface reference. Props.

MS will defer to the manufacture date in lieu of a receipt, though if the manufacture date shows it to be out of warranty and the receipt would show otherwise, you're fucked.

The warranty would be good to 10/16/07, in lieu of a receipt, so it would be under warranty regardless. Without a receipt, you'd miss out on the warranty from 10/16/07-01/06/08 you'd have from the receipt.

Thats not even a good deal dude. $100 off MSRP plus a baseball game? I am sure there are much better deals if you wait a day or two.

If I wait a day or two?? I've been looking for deals everywhere for 2 1/2 weeks. It is more then 100 dollars off of everything because I like baseball and will play the game. The baseball game is 59.99 and a premium xbox is 399.99. So it is 460 dollars + 8% sales tax (NY State). So my total after buying everything is 497 dollars. Basically i'm saving almost 200 dollars for everything I am buying
