Found a panasonic 42'' plasma 780p with no dead pixels and I think no burn-ins either on CL. Price is $550.

Should I bite? This deal seems very good for a 42''

Also I have a question about burn-ins.. is it only during the first year or so where it is most vulnerable that this can happen? Is there a chance of it occurring in the future after this initial time period?

Anyone help me out? I don't think the seller can hold out any longer and I need an answer. Is Panasonic reliable and good in quality?

Yes it is a great TV. I bought one several months ago and it is excellent. I got it mostly for gaming and haven't watched much TV or many movies on it. Burn in is really a non issue on newer TVs, although there can be occasional image retention but it will go away.

If you are thinking about buying from any of those merchants excluding Amazon and (possibly) Monitor Outlet, I would advise against it. Yahoo Shopping has a lot of shady "retailers" on it.
It's from craigslist and I'm going to go check it out before I buy it.
In that case, it sounds like a great deal as long as its in good condition.
