Buy a parts laptop of the same make/model with a functioning LCD. Swappin out the LCD is not all that complicated for the mechanically inclined.

I'd get quotes from local techs and Apple before I mailed my PC to some guy who can only afford to advertise on craigslist. Don't know about Apple computers, but what he's quoting is comparable to what companies like HP and Gateway charge for out-of-warranty repairs, and they're probably way more reliable.
