I can't exactly remember their name but I think it was versus books. They had the best stratedy guides for Pokemon since they combined the pokedex of the pokemon and their egg moves and stuff and the new features and the walkthrough.I want to buy Versus book's stratedy guide for Diamond.Does anyone know if they made one for Diamond?
why did they go out of bussiness?Their guides were truly excellent
Not enough $$$

They were THE best.. i had their Red/Blue guide I believe.
The closest to them is DoubleJump Books, but I don't think they're making much money these days either.

Why do Prima and Bradygames make all the money with their overpriced shitty guides?

Prima guides are the crappiest formatted game guides I've ever read.

Paragraph, paragraph, picture, paragraph, paragraph, paragraph, picture. /repeat

Wasnt there a Versus guide for FFVII, that was considered way better than the other guides, and still fetches a premium from collectors?

Yep, I remember barrowing the Versus guide for FF VII from my one friend ages ago. It's no wonder it's worth so much as besides being harder to find it's a great guide. The Brady guide for FF VII is like toilet paper compared to the Versus guide and not the good stuff the rough stuff that hurts your ass if you use it too much :D

IIRC the people behind Versus also did The GameFan & MegaFan magazines. MegaFan was like EGM2 and I only had 2-3 issues of it myself but it was really good probably even better then EGM2 which was also good! I think MegaFan only last for about 6 issues tops though sadly enough as it was great stuff since it was basically the the Versus guides in a magazine just the same as EGM2.

Versus Books made the best game guides I've ever seen. I still have all of mine, and last year I was at a used book sale and found a Versus OoT guide. It wasn't in great shape and it was missing the posters, and despite the fact I already had a free OoT guide from Gamestop with the Wind Waker preorder bonus I bought it anyway.

Actually Casey Loe wrote the Official Nintendo Power Guide for Pokemon Pearl & Diamond.
He was a writer at Versus Books (i don't know if he wrote their Pokemon guide but he did write their awesome FFVII guide).

Sadly the NP Pokemon Pearl & Diamond guide wasnt that good. It offers very little strategy, and it did not include movelist aside from the original 3 pokemon, any of the bonus area or any of the legendary you can get after completing the national dex. the maps are nice but thats about it.
