Issue with original Playstation controllers

I fired up my old PSX system and some of my controllers worked once or twice, but now the system does not seem to recognize any of them (all of them do NOT have the analog sticks). I can't imagine that I have 6 bad controllers, does anybody have any ideas on what could be wrong and/or what could be done to fix it?

Is both ports? If not could be controller port shortout.
 
It's almost certainly the controller port board. I don't know if they still have any but I think NCSX.com used to sell replacements.
