It's like an abusive relationship. I don't want it anymore, but I can't let it go :(

Ok so that was a TERRIBLE subject, but I'm sure it got some attention.

So now is the time to trade in your Gamecube at EB/Gamestop. I think it's $25, plus you get an additional $20 with any system trade in. I had my 'Cube since launch...and I paid the $200, and I been through alot..and it seems kinda disrespectful (LOL @ me) to JUST get $45 for it. I mean trading in a system for like a new game is just sad. I'd still wind up paying like $7 anyway!!

Though with it being $100 retail, and the Wii being out..I'm SURE I wouldn't get much on eBay. Maybe like $10-$20 more (but then there's ebay and paypal costs....and the shipping/packing process, siigh)

I dunno. Is anyone else in the same situation as me? I have a ton of games...but i have a Wii, which is a Gamecube and THEN some.

I guess this is also in the same situation when DS came out. A DS plays DS games AND your GBA games..so why have a GBA?

Don't you just HATE nostalgia ?!?!?? CLEARLY the best thing to do is get rid of the Gamecube ASAP before the price decreases even more..but it's hard lol

Sorry for ranting. I'm actually kinda torn with this LOL :(

Then I would have no more GBA player!?!?!!!

I think I will do it though. THen when they go down to $20 used I'll buy it back. $45 is pretty much the best you can do.

Well I don't have the GBA player.. and I know some people kept their Gamecubes because of this.

I probably AM going to trade it in. But I THINK I am more worried about is trading it in for something crappy. Does anyone understand what I mean?

I love my Gamecube, so I would love for me to get something GOOD out of me getting rid of it. Any suggestions? :)

EDIT: Besides the hook ups--do I need any controllers?

I'm keeping my Game Cube around to play Game Cube games still. Plus I have the GBA player as well.

That's true. But since GBA could play GB/GBC and GBA games..that's the difference between the DS and GBA. Gamecube games only play the Gamecube games. I never had a GBA player. If I did, then I would probably be more confident in keeping it.
I'd rather keep mine around to look at/have than get $45 in store credit for it.
Agreed. Plus, why put undo stress on your Wii drive, when you can continue to use your cube. I'll be keeping my launch cube.
How long is this $25 + $20 deal going on?

Also, would I need to have my GB Player detached or will they take that too just attached?
1) I think December 3rd
2) ::shrugs::

i dont mind ditching the cube, but i still want my controllers. I only have 2 and gamestop requires at least one controller with the system trade in. Plus I wont be getting a wii till christmas, and though im not currently too involved in any GC games, id like to have a way to play them if i desire. Also the wii isnt actually in hand yet, i still have to find one and get my parents to buy it >> so if they turn up extra hard to find i could be GC/Wii-less longer. Also my gamecube has some masking tape residue from years of being labeled at college and gaming tournaments, and its missing one of the covers on the bottom; that might lower gamestops value for it. Just signed up with www.playerchain.com. seems nifty enough, i may try to sell it on that for credit towards other stuff on the site. Still relativley new i guess, not a huge selection but definately a few games id take.

alright, here's the question...does the controller have to be in working condition?

I have alot of games that I WANT.. and I'll probably get rid of Trauma Center DS since TC: SO > TC: UtK..if i can find at LEAST 2 games I don't want..then I can get in on that 10% extra.

I'm keeping my Gamecube around in case some people at church want to get together for a few games. I'd take the Wii over to church but it doesn't have a handle. ;)

ten percent is nothing. it's a gimmick that works.

Oh very true, it's the 30% I want. That's pretty good. But even if it is JUST 10%..a few bucks extra is still a few bucks extra.

I'm definitly keeping my cube untill i get wii component cables. I will probably end up up not doing anything with it and just keep it. I am such a packrat. I still feel sad whenever I think about how I traded in my SNES and a big pile of games for a PS1 and one game when I was younger :(
Then I would have no more GBA player!?!?!!!
This was my dillema :( I ended up trading it, though.... it and my old style DS, and got a DS Lite with the credit. To the OP, common sense has to outweigh nostalgia sometimes. I say go for it....

But as to keeping a GBA when you have a DS... bah... I need something to play my GBC and GB games, don't I? ;)

I've still got a pretty big 'Cube backlog, so I have no intentions of selling mine. I'd rather put the wear and tear on it than on the Wii.

Still, for those who have squeezed every last bit of fun that they feel they can out of the 'Cube, this is probably the last chance to get any decent return from it. And if I was to trade mine in, I'd keep the store credit on hold. The stuff coming out in the immediate future won't be as compelling as the games we'll start seeing after Feb probably.

I keep all my systems for some reason. Maybe it's stupid but I just like having them and I figure someday when I am grey and old I will browse through them and say hmm this is what we played back in the day....

So here I am just waking up facing the concept of what I wanna do with the Cube.

I always have a tendency to trade in stuff, and feel obligated to get stuff.. rather then walk out with the credit.

I think one of my bigger dilemmas is that..I want something GOOD to come out of this. Trading in your GBC for a GBA was an upgrade, same for DS Phat to DS Lite. I already have a Wii. In fact, I already have a Wii, DS Lite, PSP, and 360....and what's this $45 gonna do for me towards a PS3? LOL

I already have games like Elebits, Gears of War, Viva Pinata, Yoshi's Island DS on my Xmas list.. soo.. ::shrugs::

Unless I start my own trade in fund. I'll keep on trading in stuff over the next few months (only when EB/GS do specials) until I DO have enough for a PS3.. LOL that should be an interesting journey.

On that note: Does EB/GS credit expire?

I guess I got lucky. I sold mine for $100 to a friend of my mom's. The not so lucky part was I wanted to be fair so I sold all my games with it for $5 each. I wasn't expecting to get a Wii, so now I really regret that decision.
