ITT: let's all get some bestbuy.com orders cancelled

Lame... It's their fault. How the fuck do you make a $2990 error regardless of if it's a human idiot or a computer?

There needs to be a law that way these ass holes will keep their act together...

Yes. A law against honest mistakes.

Grow up.

If it only went through...

I'm curious to see if Best buy gets penalized for this like Dell. I wonder if they did do this just to increase traffic on their website, because otherwise, they need to fix up a response team to clean up the s**t storm afterwards.

I got the email earlier in the morning as well.

At first I thought the idea of BB doing this to increase traffic was stupid, but one thing that makes me kinda wonder is why BB didn't remove this from their site that quick. It was there for hours before being fixed and you'd think they'd be able to find the issue and fix it quicker than that.

wah wah wah... of course that would never go through. Why should they be penalized for an error? The flipside to the coin, should bestbuy stop pricematching then?
Some jackass posted the story on Best Buy's forums too. Way to ruin it for the rest of us.
You don't actually think that it would have worked, if it hadn't been posted there, do you?

Maybe the fact that it was like, 1 in the morning had something to do with it? :/

Because it's their fucking job to know what they are selling...

You think a site like bb.com has nobody working that late? They have customer support open during that time and on another forum someone had called them and the rep stated they were aware of the error and would not honor it.

Again, you're sort of off your rocker, to expect anything in the world to operate without errors, and if you really think that an honest mistake (which is covered by their site policy) entitles you to a ~$2000 TV for $10, then I repeat: grow up.

 If you say so, I never said anything of the sort. I'm just calling them out on paying attention or doing their damn job. lol "honest mistake".

Well then if you weren't expecting to get the TV then why are you so upset at BB.com?

You act as if you've never screwed anything up before in your life.

Saw this on the local news a few hours ago. They interviewed people who were lined up nice and early waiting to pick up their tvs. The manager came out and said they wouldn't honor the deal and that they needed to leave because they were bad for business (since they were just all standing around in front of the entrance), and everyone got their panties in a bunch. One lady said they need to stop the false advertising on their website.

I hate people like that. I get people who claim false advertising on everything at work. Even though I ordered this (in some miracle where it slid through the cracks, or got a GC as a consolation for the mistake) I had no rational intention of this ever going through, and BB was right to cancel all orders.

This isn't the first time something online was grossly miss marked. I could understand if it was like $999.99 and they forgot the 2 in front or something but... $9.99? really? come on...

Then again... people don't care that the banks got bailed out and they used the money to throw a big party at a resort...

If needed further spelling out... Accountability...

How do you know that the guy who was in charge of doing the prices wasn't coming off a twelve hour shift?

Easier to make a mistake than you think, so get off your high horse.

Like I posted in the OTT thread, it's legal for them to cancel if it's an obvious price mistake such as this, even if it's not in their policy. Grow up assholes.

All the name calling doesn't make you more mature than any of those other people, much less an adult. It was a mistake and it's happened before but best buy doesn't learn which is why they put it in their policy because it won't be first nor last time they'll do it. What they should do is give out 10% coupons or something to sort out and make things right. I've been to places where the price tag was the previous weeks sale but an employee left it there and never bothered to remove it and they still honor it and give me the deal. Not saying best buy has to do it, but I think they should compensate the people somehow.

They shouldn't compensate people for what was an obvious mistake. If it was like a 100 or so off the price they meant to have it at, then it would be reasonable to compensate people for a canceled order. Not for this though. lrn2business

Hahahaha, George Noory just mentioned this story on Coast to Coast AM. Awesome.

What the fuck. You don't "learn" to be perfect, and never ever make any sort of mistake ever again.

What they should do is give out 10% coupons or something to sort out and make things right.
Yes, people who knew damn well that they were hoping to pull a fast one on Best Buy, and ultimately didn't lose a thing other than their own naive hopes, deserve a reward.

Adding you to the "grow the fuck up" list.

It's having a mentality like this that causes Best Buy to NOT provide "compensation". I'd be willing to bet that 99.9% of the people that actually ordered this TV did so KNOWING the order was going to be canceled. I was one of those people. But I also didn't expect compensation when that order was canceled. It was a shot in the dark and a simple mistake, and Lord knows we've all made mistakes, but people ordering these TV's and actually expecting a huge corporation to honor the price or provide compensation are fools. If you ordered a 52" TV (normally $1700), saw it was $9.99, and actually expected SOMETHING to go through, you're pretty much part of the problem.

I honestly feel sorry for the people that actually were shopping for TV's at 0445 yesterday morning, found this because they needed a TV, and got excited about a great deal they found.

I'm guessing they don't have anyone proofread this stuff before it gets posted to their site. Seems embarrassing at the least.
CNN frequently runs out of real news, so they just babble about pointless events.
I don't think they run out of news, but they simply don't want to provide real, fair coverage of more important issues and events.

They seem to talk issues to death and so instead of finding a fresh angle, they tend to follow a lot of lighter events such as a Best Buy pricing mistake.
