200+ posts of awesome, a quest fulfilled for a certain RvB, and a daring race to the finish.

SWEETNESS! I dont really like Jolie but the possibilities are fucking endless!!!

A coup via the internet...anybody care to go into more detail?

Anyway, a few buddies and I walked to GA Tech from te GSU campus yesterday, and I must say, the Georgia Tech campus totally shits on GSU's. The difference was like night and day. Amazing place. They even sell fresh sushi in the food court at the student center. Unfortunately they denied us student ID cards since we cannot register for classes till May. Not registered = no id.

I got a few house projects complete and the garden was almost complete until the dog decided to roll around in it. Good thing I have yet to plant more seeds/transpant my current vegetables.

"Teen tries Web stunt, loses sight for 6 months" From CNN.com

I wonder what this kid did that would cause him to go blind....
I think it was basically variations of "Holy shit, we're running 2 OTTs at once shrike is going to kill us!"
Yeah you had to be there. It was one of those once every three years type thing.

It was awsome.

Damn, I guess my mom was right, after all.

Sweet this OTT means a something speical to me.

I helped get her up to 397 in a few hours during the trifecta of OTTs. Trakan locked her, then me, and ryles asked to open her back up which he did. Now we get to finish her off.

You'll be missed ol girl, you'll be missed.

Yeah you me strell Mr. rylles crystal and the rest of bunch (sorry if i forgot anyone can barely remember what the hell happened towards the end)

We all have a place in history for what we did last night. It was truely fucking EPIC. We should wear it around like badges of honor. In fact I already got it tattooed on my face just to show how bad ass it was.

I'm finally making headway on the my script that I've planned on writing (as in, I have a ton of stuff planned, whereas I had nothing for several months). Unfortunately, that's all I can say for now.

It was this is why I wished we had the merit mushroom badges. The 6 of us could have a OTT grandmaster badge.

Is a mod deleting posts? Cause I swear this one was at 498.

I think I'll fuck around with Kirby: Squeak Squad for a little bit before putting it on the shelf for good. Just gotta try out the new Ghost ability and the boss battle mode.

There is like a time gap in my memory. Like was taken by aliens or something

But yeah didnt mean to leave you out.

Well, I could graduate from Tech in Spring of 09 if I take Linear Algebra over the summer, but that will mean I will have to go to school everyday of the week. Or I can be done with school in the summer of 09. What should I do? And my Summer 07 schedule looks like I'll be in school Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

I suggest taking the summer classes. I took alot summer classes to speed thing up and i will never regert it. It was the best choice for me. I dont know what year you are but I can tell you when you get to be a senior you will want nothing mroe than for school just to fucking end so that you can go on with your life.

But you know its all a personal choice....and how much time you want to give up for school

Alright... time to pick away at Jump Ultimate some more. Love this game, even though I can probably only take advantage of half of it, with the language barrier.

Rawr! Still can't avoid the enemy for 2 minutes... and I really want to unlock Don Patch from Bobobo. Grr!

fuck it.

Here's what basically happened last night:

We got to 500 posts in the last OTT (MerlOTT). No mods were around to close it, so it did the usual "one post every once and a while" thing that normally happens in that situation.

In the meantime, two OTTs got made - one by Scobie (this one), and one by FriskyTanuki (All OTTers love log!). This turned into a mini-OTT war, as was the style at the time (ryles and I had a similar situation a few weeks ago), with people posting in both to try and make one grow faster than the other.

This continued for a while - all three open and running. Ryles suggested that we get to 700 for RvB's sake, since that had happened a few weeks ago and RvB had missed out. So our new plan was to get the original (supposed-to-be-dead) MerlOTT to 700, while simultaneously getting two other open OTTs to 500.

So general internet nerd anarchy ensued. We actually did pretty good considering we were missing some of the heavy hitters of the OTT crowd. I know we reached the 700 with RvB still around, and tired to get 500 on the others. I think I left with 350 or so in this one and 200 or so in the other.

I described it as "the closest to /b OTT will ever get," which I think is very appropriate.

At any rate, no mods ever came on, I had to check out at 3:30 AM my time to sleep for work, and I guess at some point this morning, a mod came in and deleted Frisky's, closed MerlOTT, and left this one open.

Epic things that happened:
 • I ASCII-man streaked in a thread
 • crystalclear64 made some BADASS artwork of a skeleton playing a guitar
 • Frisky linked to Pete & Pete episodes
 • I posted some funny gifs that Scobie dug
 • Hard plastic Peter Griffin man ass from CitizenB
 • CitizenB leaving to play with marbles in a sexy way
 • Many pictures of bewbs and ass
 • My depiction of the situation once a mod appeared: "We're all going to scatter like when you were a little kid and you broke a window playing baseball with your friends, complete with Shrike screaming I'LL GET YOU CRAZY KIDS
I beleive that sums it up.

I'm about half way through 2001: A Space Oddysey. Took long enough to actually start but I'm certain it is going to all come together.

Oh yes.

There was much meatspinnage.

And people are lying if they don't admit to opening the page just to minimize and listen to the music.

I mean I did.

Following the great success of the night, I just received a package in the mail from England:

But the major news of the day is that my guitar finally came in the mail as well:

I'm fucking stoked for today.

Hmm... I could get Dotstream for $17 shipped from Yesasia. Too bad I already spent $20 on Boundish and some keychains at PA. Oh well.

Edit: Shit Crystal, play Guild Wars much? :shock:

I used to play a ton when it first came out and I wasn't in college, then I played less when the 2nd game came out, and now I only play about 2 hours a day. As far as the xfire thing goes.. I also used to never turn guild wars off even if I hadn't played for the day, I'd still get 24 hours on it :)

It's house cleaning day, and I'm home alone. That means I get to listen to what I want.

I forgot that I owned "Seasons in the Abyss" on lp. That'll getcha scrubbin'.

You also missed the part where I spent two hours installing (and then telling Peer Guardian to let it play) WoW. :lol:

Does anyone know if there's any real difference between the US and JPN versions of the PS3. I know the games are region free right now (is that for the life of the console?) and the US and JPN share the same region coding for blu ray so would buying a JPN PS3 give me all the same options as a US PS3. Oh, and I realize that I couldn't use PS1 and PS2 games because those are still region encoded.

C/P from random forums:
JPN PS3

* plays all Blu-ray games
* plays region A Blu-ray movies*
* plays NSTC-J PS1&PS2 games
* plays region 2 DVD movies
* current model works on 100-240V 50/60Hz

USA PS3

* plays all Blu-ray games
* plays region A Blu-ray movies*
* plays NSTC PS1&PS2 games
* plays region 1 DVD movies

* Region-encoding for Blu-ray movies is optional, for example: as far as I know, all currently released Warner Bros. and Universal movies are region-free, Disney movies are not

Oh yeah, I didn't think of the power conversion thing.

So even if they start region encoding, I'll still be able to watch US movies on it... hmmm there seems to be quite a few 20gb on ebay that are going for less than $400 shipped. A nice bonus would be being able to play European and Japanese DVDs.

I guess their Blu-Ray region code is the same, but you won't be able to play US dvds. That's not very important though. Did you find a deal on a JPN PS3?

No, I misread it. I found quite a few auctions starting at $350 with $30 shipping and I thought it had 1 hour left on the auction but it was actually 1 day.

Nothing to see here, move along...
That's not very important though. Did you find a deal on a JPN PS3?
Depends on the consumer. I'd rather it did, since I don't have a straight DVD player hooked up and I don't plan on re-buying my DVDs in blu-ray. If I ever get a nice TV, I'll probably just get a DVD player which upscales nicely.
Woot Woot! Got the big promo and raise at work today!
You know, that's not that bad when you think about it. There isn't a region issue with US PS3 games. And there isn't a region issue with Blue-Ray DVD's. There is the powrer conversion issue but an adapter can fix that. As for PS2 and 1 games, you can play those on a dedicated PS2. My concern is how it'll interface online.
Whoa, this one's almost done.

Digital distribution is a long ways off, and I'm not sure if people will ever feel comfortable buying all their games with no physical product.

The more I think about digital distribution, the more I start to feel okay about it.

My big argument against it was not getting the box and instructions, but now I realize that's a pretty dumb argument because no one puts effort into those things anymore. The manuals are all black and white now, computer boxes are small and standardized, and sometimes the quality of the boxes and things are crap.

I think there should still be limited edition releases - maybe if you preorder or something, you can get artbooks and the like - but I'm starting to no longer feel the need to have physical product.

'Course, that sucks if it's set up like, say, the Wii VC - your system goes dead or something, and it's going to be really hard to get those downloaded games back. Or even if you buy a new system.

So there still needs to be a way you can make a physical copy or something.

I dunno. Gamestop is sometimes good to me, so I guess I don't really know where I stand.

A major problem for us at this site with digital distribution is it eliminates one of the main reasons why we are able to get cheap games - the need for stores to clear off shelf space. I know some price drops might still occur just from companies hoping to entice more people to download their product, i.e., the "greatest hits" pricing model. This is a far less pressing concern then the need for stores to keep physical product moving, especially as overhead from printing copies will dissipate (and anyone who genuinely believes that lower overhead is going to actually translate into significantly lower prices is far more of an optimist than I can imagine being.)

My problem is that it eliminates sales clearances and discounts. Since the content providers will have a stranglehold on prices.
