Jackson Back To Coach LA

This makes zero sense to me. Whatever though.....it should be interesting to see what difference Jackson makes given the same team as last year.

Perhaps a losing season will have matured Kobe. He has been spoiled by always being on a winning team. Peronally, I love Kobe and think he's one of the 5 most talented players in the league. If he can learn to work better with Phil and they trade some of that small forward weight for a big man, they'll be moving in the right direction.

I just can't wait to see Jackson and Kobe go at it. Oh well i guess this means that they'll be broadcasted ever week now, since Phil is back.

I thought Jackson stated that he's retiring - never to coach again... then again, Jordan said the same thing about never playing.

Jordan said 99.9%.

This should be a good thing for LA.

These guys are all better than Kobe right now, IMO:
Shaq
Duncan
James
Wade
Garnett
T-Mac
Nash

Kobe has the talent but needs to play a little more unselfishly - he doesn't make others around him better like these guys do...

The problem is is there's no big men out there a team is willing to give up. The only real surplus of big men was at Golden State when they had Dampier and Foyle, but now Damp is in Dallas.

I guess they could go after Ilgauskas in Cleveland, but he's a stiff. No way will Utah give up Kirilenko. They could always see if Washington would give up Kwame Brown, but he's going to be a big headache for any coach and team.

I just don't see very many options for L.A. to get a big man.

In terms of raw talent and athleticism, only James, Wade, Garnett and T-Mac are on the same level as Kobe. Wade did not play unselfishly in the Heat's Loss to the Pistons, so if that's the main argument I would toss that aside. Not to mention his stats in assist are almost identical to those of Wade, Garnett and T-Mac. And with the game on the line, I give the ball to Kobe over anyone else in the league. With all that said, he does need to become more unselfish, and he does need to regain his defensive intensity (99-00 First Team Defense). He has the ability to be the best player in the league. The only thing stopping him is himself.
you forgot Baron Davis on your list
baron davis does NOT make everyone on his team better, usually not.

And Baron Davis of late doesn't compare with Baron Davis of 4-5 years ago.
Shaq is the equivalent of putting a 500 lb sumo in net in hockey. His size gets the job done, not his skill.
shooting ability aside, shaq is a pretty smart player.

and baron davis is almost like a marbury clone IMO. if you're looking to win a championship and need a guard, they're not what you're looking for. you can also add steve francis to the list. but then I love steve francis hehe.

While his size is a great advantage, he is surprisingly quick. He is also, as mentioned, a very smart player with an excellent ability to pass out of the double teams that inevitably come.

Shaq is a great athlete. He can't shoot free throws but you don't get to be on the NBA Top 50 of all time list by size alone. Do you think if Yao ate a bunch of cheeseburgers he would be as good as Shaq?

If Yao wasn't so fucking polite on the court he could be just as good.
