Jade Empire II - Comming to 360, for real... really.

I thought Jade Empire good, but KOTOR and Mass Effect are better.

That said, this was inevitable. Hopefully it remains a 360 exclusive. Will definitely be on my radar.
I'm wondering if this affects the whole EA ownership thing where EA will probably want it multiplatform.
I'd imagine they will, potentially good news for PS3 owners, Jade Empire was sweet.

Oh boy, another linear "rpg". /yawn. Let me just get my rails ready.

The first one was short, but mildly entertaining with minimal replay value imo.

I guess making real RPG's is too difficult nowadays, good thing I had the chance and time to play classic/real cRPGs once.

/it's sad when a 25yr old RPG offers a non-linear experience. Nowadays it seems just because you can name your character it's suddenly dubbed an RPG. We seems to expect less and less as the gaming community gets younger- I think it's an interesting parallel. Maybe it's because people don't remember what games were like, or possible of being? At least we can cheap-out and play Oblivion...

As long as it doesn't get the framerate lag I get with mass effect I'm 100% sold. Ha, who am I kidding? I'm going to reserve a limited edition.

I gota find the PC version cheap of the first for cheap. I beat it twice (good and evil) and would still easily give it another go on the PC.

I'm sure this will be multiplatform though. EA just bought them so they need every penny they can get.

Hooray. My only problem with the first game was the length. I finished it within about two days, which was a bummer considering KOTOR took me way longer to beat.

Whatever BioWare's next game is, they better give the optimization phase the time it needs. I don't want another RPG where I my frames-per-second drop to the floor during combat.

I'm curious to know why you think the gaming community is getting younger. I think it's going the opposite direction. I'm 28 and I certainly have no intentions of stopping. At the same time, when I saw 12-13, I remember friends older siblings scoffing at videogames as being "for kids". I'm willing to bet those same people still don't play videogames but the 8-bit Nintendo generation still does.

In other news, a big "meh" for Jade Empire 2. The first one was okay but there's a reason it went on clearance EVERYWHERE while KOTOR 1 and 2 were tougher to find on the cheap until they went "Platinum hits".

I want me some KOTOR 3.

Yeah, I really hate to admit this, but I just couldn't get into Jade Empire. Loved KOTOR, thought KOTOR2 was nearly destroyed by the rush job, but still completed it... yet, I played JE for about a day, and just never went back. Never really felt compelled to.

So, honestly, I'll give a sequel a shot, but I'm not extraordinarily excited about it, especially with the new 'hey, EA bought us' thing still a huge unknown.

I thought Jade Empire was the best console RPG until I played Mass Effect so I hope this is true. I loved the Chinese mythology setting but I can see how that may put some people off. I also don't understand why it's considered a short RPG; it took me 25 hours to beat the first time and it definitely has enough replayability for at least one more playthrough.

I feel the same way. Spent over 50 hours on each KOTOR, but played JE for about a day.

I thought Jade Empire was good, not great. I did enjoy it while I played it.

I feel like the only person in the world who wants the KOTOR battle system to make a return. It was such a great mix of action and strategy... I might have to find KOTOR 1 on PC and play it again.
Meh. Jade Empire 1... Bad story, bad combat. The exploration was bad too.

Hopefully this'll be a dramatic improvement.
Here's a few choices: 1.A Chinese director like Zhang Yimov needs to oversee development of at least the environment. 2.A Chinese or Japanese game company needs to make a Wuxia game. 3.Both of these options happen.

I prefer the idea of #3. While I like the idea of Americans trying Wuxia I would prefer they do it in the theater and instead give the Chinese a chance to show them how to do it right in video games, with maybe an assist by the Japanese in gameplay.

KOTOR2, as I said before, was destroyed by the rush job that LucasArts forced on them. Plus, it wasn't BioWare. I want KOTOR3 to be a REAL sequel, done by BioWare, given all the time they need.

The majority of KOTOR2 wasn't awful, but the fact that there were parts missing... you know, like the ENDING... really killed the game, and much of the enjoyment I should've gotten out of it.

In essense, asking for KOTOR3 after being disappointed with 2 is a bit different than not being excited for a Jade Empire sequel. One was a game that was hampered by a forced production schedule and, given time, would've likely ended up as a relatively okay follow-up to its predecessor. Also, not having the team from the original hurt it. Jade Empire was a fully realized vision by the company who originally created with it, and was simply disappointing to many people.

I love KotOR and Mass Effect. I tried so hard to like Jade Empire as well but it was honestly a load of garbage. Lets hope maybe this will better.

Man, this post proves that you're a winner!!!!!:applause:

Anywho, I'm mildly excited. I haven't finished Jade Empire yet, but I've enjoyed what I've played, even though it underdelivered on almost every level. Mass Effect crushes it in every way and is, IMO, basically what KOTOR 3 would have been, except w/o lightsabers and wookies. I haven't gotten that far in KOTOR 2, but it didn't really seem bad at all.

Jade Empire was ... okay.

I just have very little love for 'Honor,' samurai, ninjas, etc eastern stuff that so many Americans simply ADORE.

I just don't get why people who would be the peasants/foreign dog in that particular situation would be so /into/ it.

Sort of like I don't get the love of mafia stuff.

I'll probably enjoy playing a sequel, but I won't be put out if it never comes to be.

Personally I liked how it implied the Jedi were at fault for the Republic almost collapsing as they wanted to twiddle their thumbs for too long deliberating.
