James Bond DVDs?

gamefreak

CAGiversary!
Really want to get a set of these DVDs but it appears that the US collection is not in production any more. Is anyone aware of a place I could buy these individually at a low cost or maybe import a foreign set? Has anyone had any luck with foreign sets? Ebay has several up but most of them appear to be Chinese made and I'm a bit worried about getting bootleg copies or some such.

Anyways, thanks!
GF

Actually, most of the Chinese stuff is actually a special set that they came out with all 20 Bond Movies on Ebay. As to finding the actual sets it will be very hard because I have been looking myself. Only other place would be Amazon and buying them used but they are sometimes a little expensive.

These sets will re-appear into the marketplace prior to the release of the new Casino Royale film.

Yeah, I know about that because the old sets were transfered through to a different company so that is why the old ones are Out of Print. They did this with Die Another Day because they added it to the third volume so that is why there is actually two different volume 3s.

Hmmm... the new versions will be improved (seems like what Lucas did for the SW dvds?) but the box set will cost some 200 GBP which would be insane to import :whistle2:/

Anyone have any luck with the foreign set?

I've been picking up individual MGM SE Bonds used whenever I can find them. It's a shame you can't buy them anymore. I think I need 8-10 more to complete my series.

These are high on my want list, so if you have any you don't want, CML.

Supposedly the new set that is coming out is going to be the end-all-be-all of special editions. All in one box too.
Ahhh cool!

Yeah, the old sets are ~$80 used and even more if new :whistle2:/
The only place that will (or may) still have these in stock is actual Borders stores. When I worked there, we seemed to stockpile these to a great extent.

I have the original ones of vol 1 and 3. Still kicking myself for not getting the original vol 2 for 40 a pawn shop a couple of years ago. Make sure you find out what version of each set is if you go the used route. They packaged them in different orders depending on when they rereleased them

I finished my collection from warehouse.com's 30% sale last year, I got most of them from $7-10 each.

But if you're planning to buy em, just wait. I'm going to put mine up on ebay soon, since a new set will come out to coincide with Casino Royal probably. There was alraedy a trailer for the Ultmate James Bond collection on the Fun with Dick and Jane DVD.

Of course, I'd be willing to entertain trade offers if you got some good stuff.

I was going through and looking at what would give me the nicest set at the best price for all the bond films on DVD until I saw some stuff from the new bond film.

He is blonde and he can't drive a manual transmission. For some reason, the combination of those two things pushed me away from all things bond. The blonde thing bothers me but a real man can drive a fucking stick!

Yeah, and it's a "reset" of the whole Bond series, it's starting from the beginning!

I got lucky and got all three of the U.S. Sets for $50 a piece. I should have sold em when they were going for like 250 on ebay.

Are you kidding me? I'm boycotting the new movie. I never thought that Pierce Brosnan was really a good or true bond, but right now I'm wishing it was still him. This new guy seems like shit. Jesus. They are going to run the franchise into the ground.

The preview actually looks good, but wtf he can't drive a stick? Learn, bitch!

No, it looks like the standard Hollywood big explosions equal a good movie. I mean really, not only is it a remake, it is a remake of a Bond movie with a guy who doesn't look like a Bond nor acts like one.

Actually, it's not a remake. The first Casino Royale was totally fucking dumb. Some other company ran with it with Peter Sellers because Connery was tearing it up. It's an out and out farce. This movie supposedly runs truer with the book.

I personally am tired of the one-liners and sleep with every girl tired shit. I want a better Bond action movie. I'm hoping this fits the bill, even if I don't think Craig fits the role either. (I personally was hoping for Clive Owen)

I got my Chinese box set Tuesday and it's great. I bought it from lucktao2006 on ebay. He usually has at least 2 of these box sets on per day. I got it for $9.90 plus $3.00 insurance plus $30.00 shipping. The shipping sounds steep, but it's worth it. My auction ended after 11:00 PM EST (DVDs in Beijing) last Friday and I had the DVDs by 2:00 PM EST Tuesday in Indiana. This is the white box with black lettering.
If you catch the right auction no one will bid against you, but I bid on about 12 of his auctions before winning this one with my starting bid.
One problem: disk number 10, The Spy Who Loved Me wouldn't play in my DVD player. The "play" and "scene selection" options on the menu don't work. I put it in my PC and it works perfectly. So I made a backup with just the movie files on it and that one plays fine in my DVD player. As I paid about $2 per movie lucktao2006 didn't hesitate to offer a $2 refund for this one "bad" disk.
EDIT: I forgot to say thanks to the OP for mentioning these Chinese sets. I didn't know they existed as I thought the Bond boxes were too expensive and hadn't even checked ebay. Thanks OP.

I sold You Only Live Twice on Amazon for $23. Not bad. If I had more Bond DVDs I would sell those too. At that rate I could use the earnings to buy the new set, and have some money left over to buy something else too.
