Paying for coupons seems counter productive to me. Besides, I've noticed a tendency for the best buy coupon price to be regular price or sale price in many stores within a few months. I got bioshock 2 for 19.99 with a coupon from my free copy of the mag and a couple months later everyone had it for that price. It's been what, 6 months or so at this point? Now amazon has the 360 version for 15 something! I would just assume wait a few months and not pay for a magazine.
Newsflash......almost EVERY single game decreases in price over time, especially within several months of release, with the exception of AA titles....with the exception being certain limited/collectors editions and/or rare games.

Really, you don't say? if only people knew that all the games would be 15 or 20 dollarsn in two months then no one would buy the magazine. Perhaps you can tell us all the price drop schedule for assassins creed brotherhood. Go ahead, I would love to know it. What will amazon charge for it in 6 months? Will it be 15 in 6 months like bioshock 2 is?
Are you talking about a PM from $39.99 from GS? Cuz best buy's site shows the price on K&L2 at $39.99 too.
Wow. It must've been a temporary sale price then, since it was listed as $19.99 new for both PS3 and 360 on the GS website for a while.

Same thing with Front Mission Evolved for PS3 and 360, which makes me wonder if some of the other games that got supposed permanent price drops a while ago went back up too.

Ah. I was going to say PM'ing $40 when the price is already $40 at BB is a tad bit silly. ;)

That would have been nice to PM $20 and get a free game with the coupon though. :)

WTF, I went in with the coupon and they wouldn't take it. The coupon became valid today and Brotherhood was still $40. 2 managers came over and told me I couldn't use the coupon during a sale...They told me I had to wait until the sale price ended to use it...which Brotherhood would be $60 - $15 coupon...making it $45, aka $5 more than the fucking sale price right now. 2 stupid managers, I was so pissed. Anyone know who I should contact to complain about my best buy? The cashier was going to override it but he needed to call a manager over, and then I got pissed when she said that I couldn't use the coupon because the game was on sale so she called another manager that was a total cunt about it telling me to wait until next week when the game isn't on sale. I told her it would be $5 more than it would be now... She then got an attitude saying "WELL I DONT MAKE THE SALE PRICES OKAY?" So I grabbed my coupon and left.

I'm still raging and really feel that they should've honored the coupon since it was from their shitty magazine that I paid $6 for, and the date that it started was today.

the only cunt in the situation is you....the coupons even say they are not valid on sale prices....so when they use that as the reason to justify the denial, you really don't have much ground to complain.....yea I know it sucks that bestbuys coupons always seem to coincide with the game being on sale, and most of the times in the past, they have worked...but you knew that before you even bought the magazine.

I'm a cunt? I'm a CAG bro. Why the fuck would they make a coupon during a sale and then tell you you can't use it? Best Buy can eat a dick.

I used one before to get Splinter Cell for $5 last year. $15 off when it was on sale for $20. They overrode it then. And many other CAGs got it too.

theres nothing wrong trying to get the game as cheap as possible with the coupon....I know they have worked in the past and I have done it many times as well myself......my point is that when they deny it, theres no reason to rage about it.....just move on and wait for the next best buy screw up to "get back at them" for this one time...we all know it's only a matter of time with best buy :).....or if you have more best buys close by, try another one....personally I would try that same bestbuy with a different cashier.

The closest other one is like an hour away so it's not even worth trying. The thing is the cashier was ready to do it and tried but they needed an override but the manager wouldn't do it. And they called another manager over and the confirmed that they "couldn't do it". Just pissed that it was a wasted trip. Cause now the magazine is worthless and they won't take it back.

Since you're a cag....i assume you have a rewardzone.....give them a call and complain about it, chances are they will give you a reward zone certificate.

Will probably do that after class tomorrow.

sevellygo, they're in the best buy @Gamer magazine in the games section. Cover price is $5.99 or you can subscribe for 10 issues/$14.99 online.

You have to buy the magazine instore, mgorsi.

So has anyone else tried to use the coupon? Is it a true override or were they just giving the dude above a hard time? If it's a true override that you have to fight for, they just killed any future sales of their mag...

reminds me of a joke where the wife comes home and says "honey i just got these shoes for $400! They were originally $600 so i saved us $200!"
husband grumbles "if you didn't buy anything it would have saved us $400..."
Like when the wife goes tto the casino and says I ned tow in my money back... yeah stay home and you win!

In reality she doesnt do too bad, its just funny to hear people say..

Does anyone know if BB will honor that $15 coupon on a price match? That could be another way of getting it at the $25 price.

I dont have to buy it in store, because i Subscribed to it already!1 I ahve not yet recieved my mag in the mail yet. Has anyone else, who subscribed to it.

I just got back from Best Buy. In my attempt to get the 15$ off Brotherhood.

1.The store didn't carry the magizine and the General Store Manager was unable to look up the magizine or the coupon I told him about. So without proof he said he couldn't take it off.

2.I then called customer relations in store and when they were unable to find the coupon or the magizine, they had no idea what @Gamer even was, After about 15-20 minutes they finally just said they would mail me a 15$ gift card.

3. The store manager told me once I get the gift card I can return the game even opened and do a rebuy with the gift card to make the total 25$

I still find it amazingly pathetic the store manger dosn't have the power to just take off the 15$. Days of customer appeasement is dead it seems.

Wait a sec...I understand it may be bad customer service to not know about a company run magazine and not have them out, but then you want them to just take your word for it and give you $15 off? huh?

Yeah it really does say not valid on sale prices. Being able to use the coupon on top of the sale is really YMMV. Some ppl got lucky and some ppl not so lucky. But just wait out a couple months the game will drop soon. thats when im getting it :D

I tested that coupon at lunch and no-go. They won't allow customers to "double-dip", as a store employee told me. Hoping BB does a perm price drop to $40 before that $15 coupon runs out in late Feb. Otherwise, they can eat donkey doo-doo.

Then their magazine is even more worthless. Oh well. Guess I save my money this time :)

This is another reason to not get the mag. It's ymmv if they will take it. Best bet is to go back and try with another cashier or store. In the begining, some rep named tim was posting here claiming that you nan use the coupons on sales but since it says you can't on it....go figure?

They can make a little window come up on the computer that disallows the coupon but in the past they were not programmed like that. I don't know if it is still like that or not.

Picked up a CE today at $59.99-10% RZ coupon-$10 RZ cert. Am still waiting for my copy of the mag to see if it lists the CE on there. Might be worth a try for an adjustment once it shows up...

Well customer service was amazing in they actually sent me a 15$ gift card,I originally just called them after speaking to the store manger. As he needed any kind of either a scan either online or just a sku so he could send it in to corporate which makes sense.

The problem seems to honestly be the actual system as not even Customer Relations on the phone could find anything about the magazine or even a sku to give to the store manager so he could know it was a real coupon, and I was not just lying. But like I said they were not even able to on the phone even see that Best Buy had a magazine so they couldn't provide any type of proof what so ever.

In the end the 15$ gift card works out better. Still just amazed noone had any idea there was even a magazine and also had zero ability to look up the promotional code for it. Combined with the fact the store manger was cool with everything just because of policy he needed something, anything to back it up. Me and another employee even spent a better part of 10 minutes trying to google up a scan of the image.

Tips for using these coupons:

1. If the cashier gives you a hard time about there being a sale that week, go over to customer service and say something along the lines "the cashier couldn't figure out how to use this coupon, can you help?"

2. You don't have to buy the magazine, just tell them it's a store copy and put it back when you're done. They don't have to tear anything out.

The coupon does not say it includes the CE or that it excludes the CE, it just makes no mention of it whatsoever. The computer did not take the coupon when I tried to buy the CE today, and when they brought the manager over and told him the situation he originally wasn't going to override it. He then went and got a regular edition and rang it up with on a separate register with coupon and said the coupon wasn't working at all... so then he did take $15 off of the $60 CE for me. So getting this discount on the CE appears to be very YMMV

Thanks for the info! Will definitely give this a try whenever my mag decides to grace my mailbox with its presence...

I thought i'd bump this thread and remind people that Assassins Creed Brotherhood is priced @ $34.99 this week and the coupon is not expired yet.

I'm glad I didn't fall for this scam of a magazine. Everyone was saying that they would stop accepting the coupons on sale prices down the road but some folks are just so optimistic and pro-Best Buy. I don't want to bash anyone for being half glass full but I definitely didn't believe it.

For most of us *queue IATCG's entrance* it just seemed obvious that they weren't going to keep accepting these. It says it right on the coupon that they won't accept them on sale prices and most games these days are $20 six months after release anyway.

Sounds par for the course for the BB's around me, you probably live nearby.

I had a s**tstorm last fall with using the Splinter Cell Conviction coupon. Everyone here was collectively like "just do it, they won't care, the 'not valid on sale prices' is just there, but it doesn't count, bro!"...

Oh the joy, back then I was the only CAG reporting I couldn't get the savings overriden with a manager, now it's known to be YMMV and taken with a grain of salt. Everyone in the thread back then basically said "Well because it scans and works anyways, the coupon has misprints, it's supposed to work anyways". There was even a CAG who said someone they know from corporate claimed it was okay with sale prices. Now I don't even consider going into a Best Buy with one of those coupons, they don't work with sales and without them they simply match average CAG values.

I politely requested that the manager send a message up the ladder to corporate to get clarification on whether they are to work or not (because 99% of CAG got them to work), because someone here said they knew someone at BB corporate and said it was a misprint. The manager was a prick and rolled his eyes at me and scoffed. All I asked was to relay a legitimate concern via a feedback channel (which I KNOW he has to have)...

That's Best Buy for you.

Wow, you're not going to let that one go ever, are you?

*At the time* it worked for 99% of people who tried it. You pretty much WERE the only CAG having problems. The coupon wasn't even requiring being overridden, it just worked at the register.

Things change. :/

Being the only CAG to get shafted on savings will sorta do that. I think it's a natural reaction to missing out on a $5 Splinter Cell vs. MSRP of $40.

Best Buy needs to get their ducks in a row, if they were NASA and launched a ship as well as they launched this magazine, it would be catastrophic.

this was in the other thread, worth reposting it in here. Flatmate beat me to the original post on their site. ><

I was successful in getting AC:B for $20 on Sunday. Really depends on the store, and how wired in they are to combating the Slick Deals followers.

The SC: Conviction $5 deal was sweet, I regret not buying more than 2.

It's tough, because getting the deal means the store was nice to you and you don't want to take advantage of them.

FIXED

I have no problems taking advantage of BB with all the crap my family and friends experianced and once myself. Im really cool with a acouple people in the 3 close stores becuase most of the deals Ive gotten.

I've been trying to find a copy of Batman on PS3 to take advantage of this deal, and it hasn't been in stock at any of the 6 stores in my area. This magazine and the coupons end up being worthless.

Ugh, so I picked up the mag on Wednesday night (48 hours ago), since I saw a copy of Batman: AA GotY in my local BestBuy, and was searching for the Tekken 6 bundle. So I come back the next day and it's gone. I end up going to 2 other locations (still on the search for my Tekken 6 360 bundle, which I find at the furthest one, of course :p) and none of them have it. So, after talking to a store employee at one of them, I figure I can apply the coupon online. Wrong. Back of the coupon even says as such, so I'm rather annoyed. I stop by my local BB tonight, ask if they can provide me a rain check. The guy says no. I ask if they can ship it from the closest store and I'll pay here and pick it up (there's a store that has it that's quite a drive away, but close enough that it could be shipped in a day or 2). So, I figure that since I didn't use any coupons (the $10 off pre-owned stuff would have been nice, but it's like $5 for shipping and there was no ship-to-store option for anything I could get cheaper than GS with the coupon), and I have my receipt and the magazine is in pristine condition, I can at least return it, right? Nope.
Upon returning it to Customer Service (on suggestion of the store-pickup guy), the younger worker flips through it and says it looks fine, but then his supervisor comes over and says magazines are final purchase. Now, I get the idea on general magazines not being returnable (since you buy them to read) but the main selling point of the mag (over-priced, I think) is the coupons which I did not and could not use because of their shortage of copies. How is that my fault? How is it my fault that they refuse to let them work online (like they should), or that they won't rain check me or ship it from another store? I tried every possible alternative and they have the nerve to tell me that I pretty much threw away $6.50??? They wouldn't give me SC or the next magazine, or anything. I stormed the fuck out. Poor BB, if I got my money back they'd have only a day to sell that piece of shit to someone else.

Regardless, I was originally headed out to K-mart tomorrow to use my MvC3 credit towards BS: Epic, and I found out when I got home that the second closest location (they're just about tied in distance, but the K-mart deal is actually worth the drive) is actually the town over from said Best Buy, gotta hit Walmart on the way regardless, so it's a moot point. However, I'm sure I'll never be buying this piece of crap magazine ever again and I think BB should make it easier for me to give them my money. I thought the whole coupon not working with the sale of Ass Bro was annoying enough, but this just took the cake for me. Thinking about ripping the coupons out of the next issue, lol.

Edit: If anyone actually wants the coupons (aside from the Batman one, probably) and lives on Long Island in the Nassau area, you could probably get them from me.

Edit 2: Wait, how the hell was I supposed to pick-up a pre-owned game with the coupon if they're online only (BB employee said as such)? Just figures there's giant holes with the only 2 coupons I was interested in. Oh, and they put the same Ass Bro coupon in next month's issue so I assume either the price is shooting back up and they have a ton of copies (instead of, or they're going to make it useless coupon-filler again.
