Welcome to the Japanese niche games deals and discussion thread!  Feel free to talk about local and import Japanese games here.  Our goal is to maintain a thread dedicated to active deals on niche games including RPGs, Visual Novels (VN), Shoot'em ups (Shmups), Musou, etc.  Also maintained are pre-orders for standard, limited and collector's edition games with key release dates provided.

I've wikified the thread to make it more friendly and open to others that can actively update with important information. You can find the wiki post directly below this one.

NOTE:  Please, leave the censorship discussion away from this thread.  It's common for japanese games to have questionable content outside of the country.  We want to keep discussions to the game itself and not about cultural/societal tolerance.

You can basically friend any of our members, or any moderator, and you will be able to request to join the community under "Communities friends are in" tab, and a mod will approve your request.

You can also leave your PSN ID in the thread, saying you want to join, and we can invite you directly as well.

I'll say it again, of all the things they could have done with touchscreen, this is a poorly implemented feature that doesn't make up for the stuff it's missing from the PS4 version. Also, now that I've seen more of it, the girl's skin really looks plastic-y under that harsh light. I really hope it's just an angle thing.

Eh....no PS3 version again. At least I can get it on vita. And it saves me from a double purchase. Just hope the vita version doesn't chug too much.

We won't know until it's announced for Japan, however Rorona also received a plus version on the PS3 despite having a PS3 version before. It has a better chance of getting a plus version than not based on past releases. Of course it could always change permanently or be the black sheep too of course.

Actually I hear the Vita version for Sophie runs much better than the past few Vita releases for the Atelier series.

Agreed. But I know I would regret it later on if I don't get the LE. I've gotten every Atelier LE since the beginning (well, except Ayesha and Escha & Logy since they didn't have LEs) Now they're going to be bigger hits on the wallet :/

Rorona Plus was also mechanically almost a completely different game from vanilla Rorona, whereas the other Plus versions I think have just added in the DLC that was already available for the PS3 versions. This is also the first time, if I'm remembering right, that the Vita version has launched simultaneously with the console version. While it's not impossible, I'm really not expecting a Sophie Plus.

Even social links wise only a couple are timed. hangedman heirophant in p3, moon and one other included in p3p and nanako and dojimas in p4.

I've been wanting to play Fatal Frame 2 and 3 for quiet some time and, for some reason, neglected to buy them when they were both on sale last year for $3-$4 each. So glad I hesitated--I'll be picking up both now, along with Naotora Ii for DOA5LR.

I can't specifically say how it is for late game as I'm only going by word of mouth that I've come across. However here's a video I came across somewhat recently while looking up other Atelier information that has some early Atelier Sophie gameplay from pretty early in the game. It's not something I'm going to pursue either as I'm not big on the handheld versions.

I do believe the port was done by GUST, but I don't know who the previous Vita/Plus versions were done by. However I do know that the Nights of Azure Vita port wasn't done by GUST though and I hear it ran like shit.

It probably benefited from being developed/ported simultaneously with the console version.

Digimon All Star Rumble is the Digimon game no one wanted. Everyone wanted Cyber Sleuth, but Bamco decided to localize All Star Rumble first.

Keep it falling i been watching all of them over 2 weeks now. Still hope Megadimension Neptunia 7 down $30 and Nitro around $24 or less. Who care about UFC2 ;)

i think digimon all stars Could have been great, but the limited modes, small roster & no online play kill it. I would suggest Digimon Rumble 1 or 2 on psx & ps2. Those i had a blast with.

Just to ask, is there any reason to jump on Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 as a preorder instead of waiting some time down the road.  Is it, or are international versions of games in general, expected to be rare?

Sometimes these Asian versions only ever get their 1st print, which barely covers preorders. I really don't see that happening with DoAX3 cause it's the most hyped Asian release ever.
