Welcome to the Japanese niche games deals and discussion thread!  Feel free to talk about local and import Japanese games here.  Our goal is to maintain a thread dedicated to active deals on niche games including RPGs, Visual Novels (VN), Shoot'em ups (Shmups), Musou, etc.  Also maintained are pre-orders for standard, limited and collector's edition games with key release dates provided.

I've wikified the thread to make it more friendly and open to others that can actively update with important information. You can find the wiki post directly below this one.

NOTE:  Please, leave the censorship discussion away from this thread.  It's common for japanese games to have questionable content outside of the country.  We want to keep discussions to the game itself and not about cultural/societal tolerance.

You can basically friend any of our members, or any moderator, and you will be able to request to join the community under "Communities friends are in" tab, and a mod will approve your request.

You can also leave your PSN ID in the thread, saying you want to join, and we can invite you directly as well.

Signup for UPS My Choice Free (If it's available for your area) and you should be able to configure delivery instructions for all packages arriving at you residence as well as digitally sign for notarization required packages. Though if you're in an area where your package is likely to get stolen, I'd be careful about that. It's pretty useful if you get a lot of packages from UPS. It has other useful features as well.

It shouldn't effect other members in the same household unless you add them under your account settings. Unless they have the same first and last name as you.

I'm guessing his front door is visible to passers by, and that is why they don't leave it. Or it is a high crime area, either way UPS doesn't not leave a package at the door unless there is a damn good reason. In my community, even when it's visible, they still leave it. The only time my driver won't leave a package is when it has instructions for a signature etc.

I actually wish I would have known about this service a while back(I currently use it), as I had a rather large order of the "The Last of Us" show up and my UPS driver left it at a neighbors house by mistake, and all items where never returned. I would have upgraded to a signature, or some other form of delivery for such a high dollar order. It's good to able able to change delivery options during route.

Usually, yeah. Which is why I mentioned that he'll need to be careful if he does do it. Besides there are other features such as leaving it with a neighbor or sending it to a local UPS store for pickup there as well at no cost. Either way, it should be useful even if it's the minimum notification settings as well.

Thanks for the advice, you just saved me a lot of time and frustration. I didn't know about this service at all.

Cause I have a physical (launch) copy. I want a cheap digital copy to play so I don't need an opened one for my collection.

The sale was around when I tried to stop getting a second, play copy of things.

Yeah, it's rather good actually. I mostly use it for shipping & delivery alerts, but it has many useful options. Once you set it up, you can receive email/text alerts anytime the package is scanned in route. So this way, I know the exact day a package is due to arrive and be on the look out for it.

FedEx offers a similar service as well. USPS recently started their service, but like all things postal, the alerts system was rather wonky when it started(I would get a shit ton of alerts everyday), but seems to work better now. I can't speak to any other services they may offer, but at least they are trying to step their game up, sadly I don't expect much from them but who knows?

I find it kind of interesting that I will be treating the new Legend of Zelda the exact opposite of how I treated Twilight Princess. I'll be getting the game on the older of the two systems this time.

Anyone know if there is much of a difference between the PS3 and PS4 versions of Aegis of Earth: Protonovus Assault. PS3 version has been dropping pretty steadily recently sitting at $17.28 right now with a lot of (LN) AWD listings for $14.92. Really tempted to pick it up but I'm not sure if I would be better off holding out for the PS4 version to drop to around $20.

Honestly the graphics are not very impressive overall even looking so-so on the Vita. The Vita has pretty bad load times but runs alright, so i'm assuming with the pretty basic graphics, PS3 or PS4 doesn't matter. Likely what matters more is which controls you like more as you move around and twist things a lot. The game didn't impress me though, but that's something else in the matter.

It looks a lot like Ar NoSurge, which, wasn't too bad of a game. Though, the battles for a bit tedious. I bought it, but have't started it yet. Might be the next game I start once I'm done with SAO: Lost Song.

I haven't played that, so I definitely can't compare them on my end. I am about 70% through NoA right now, though, and I'm having to force myself to keep playing it. I love the Atelier games, so I had high hopes for this, but Gust just did not release a quality title with this one. It was not worth the $48 I paid. And, more importantly, it's not worth the time I've put into it. There are just too many good games to waste time with titles that are mediocre at best.

Thanks for that info. I bought the LE version of the game, so hopefully I'll find more enjoyment than you did...though, this makes me question whether or not I should pop in Atelier Escha & Logy: Plus instead. I own a lot of the Atelier games and do need to put some time into them. This summer will be my annual "operation backlog" time. So I might start back to Ayesha then.

Escha and Logy is the next Atelier game that I need to play, too, and I really wish that I had just started that instead lol.

Escha & Logy was really boring. Now mind you my only experience so far with Atelier games is Ayesha which was x100 times more entertaining even though we know Atelier games have very lil plot. E&L was very boring to me, couldn't bring myself to finish it.
