Welcome to the Japanese niche games deals and discussion thread!  Feel free to talk about local and import Japanese games here.  Our goal is to maintain a thread dedicated to active deals on niche games including RPGs, Visual Novels (VN), Shoot'em ups (Shmups), Musou, etc.  Also maintained are pre-orders for standard, limited and collector's edition games with key release dates provided.

I've wikified the thread to make it more friendly and open to others that can actively update with important information. You can find the wiki post directly below this one.

NOTE:  Please, leave the censorship discussion away from this thread.  It's common for japanese games to have questionable content outside of the country.  We want to keep discussions to the game itself and not about cultural/societal tolerance.

You can basically friend any of our members, or any moderator, and you will be able to request to join the community under "Communities friends are in" tab, and a mod will approve your request.

You can also leave your PSN ID in the thread, saying you want to join, and we can invite you directly as well.

Hmm....after giving up on it, I'm not sure if I even want it now since I don't even have Prime. I mean I only bought a Wii U for the game when it was announced (seriously). What to do? Are the 6 DLC songs the only thing that are part of the game, and they can be purchased separately right? I was not ready for all these games popping up on Amazon so fast. Poor me...  :-({|=

Edit: So while I'm whining, In an interesting and shitty turn of events, I can't go to the Miku concert, well unless I can scalp a ticket and then find a ride. I seriously didn't think they could take my license away for something like not taking a class I was supposed to almost 10 years ago. I know I paid and took something back then but it's not on record. I still have a little hope to go, but it's almost sad and delusional. fuck my life... I'm more serious about this problem obviously. Whatever. Sorry for venting, hope everybody has a great time anyways! :)

Digimon impressions cont'd:

More on the translation. For some reason, the Reiko Tawa(cd store) quest has a really liberal translation. Everything up till now has been a pretty straight translation. But this one quest, I guess a different person translated it 'cause the text does not match her dialogue. It's pretty jarring. Aside from typos and poor QA, the translation was alright thus far. Well I just hope it was a one off.

oh trust me its not gonna be the first time. Especially since you are playing the femc route since they only partially rewrote the dialogue. So you will run into the game referring to you as a him/he and such. They just gave up by chapter five or so according to my one friend. I didn't play femc route myself though.

How'd you know I was playing as a girl? Did I mention that or is it just that obvious?

But yeah it's a real disappointment how they just phoned in the translation. So much for that thank you video if they barely put any work into the localization. Really wish bamco would stop outsourcing this stuff. Anything that isn't Tales just gets the cheapest chinese translators it seems.

you already mentioned it a while ago actually or I'm clairvoyant. hearts r was better than this for sure but it was still prone to errors and many liberties were taken so it was a less than perfect localization. a number of npc's had their names changed along with 3 main characters shing gallando and lichea which was dumb since the voice dialogue in the background makes it easily noticeable. Some of the liberties taken were funny though like hisui referring to creed as a crazy ginger. some things were a little offensive though. Plus there were a number of typos early on. And beryls speech pattern was done inconsistently so when it does appear you can't typically tell the difference between her typos and it being on purpose or not.

thats ignoring zestiria's translation where they just screwed up the story completely regarding the time line.  

xillia had the same issue in regards to gaius age being misleading due to a mistranslated sidequest with his sister.  he's only in his early 20's I believe but the sidequest makes him out to be in his 40's since they said he took part in the tournament when he was 14 or something 30 years ago....

We're all psychic around here.

You said the MC looked like Nokia, so obviously you were playing the female version.

I was going to mention the many translations referring to the MC as male. Including parts about romance. But I didn't. Til now.

 
Also I'm not sure if has been fixed since I beat Digimon Cyber Sleuth a while back, but if you're grinding to get all the medals for your collection, there are also some issue with the names.  I think they translated some and left some as a Japanese name or something.  And some have the same name when you pull from the gashapon machine and such, so if you don't have a good way of keeping track, it could royally screw you up. 

And those stupid machines were such a timesink due to luck, since it depended on RNG.  I did get all of the ones from the machines though which was a waste because after knowing I will never get the online trophy, I gave up on collecting the missing medals for the Platinum trophy.

You don't need to fight real people to get the online trophy. You can just beat the AI enough times. Only requirement is your console needs to be connected online.

Impulse bought a brand new copy of Stranger of Sword City off ebay for $27. Couldn't pass up the deal even though I have no idea when I'll get to it.

No new free DLC this week on PSN. However anybody who signed up for the Grand Kingdom Beta/Demo/Thing and was accepted should have their beta keys today if you don't already. It's roughly a 5GB download. Also the Nioh demo will disappear from PSN in a couple days, so grab it now if you haven't already. I believe completing the first boss gives you some free DLC for when the game releases if you're interested in buying it down the road. Second boss reward is a sword if I remember correctly.

I know that, but it never once connected me to the AI after the 100 times I tried. I am always connected online.
