Welcome to the Japanese niche games deals and discussion thread!  Feel free to talk about local and import Japanese games here.  Our goal is to maintain a thread dedicated to active deals on niche games including RPGs, Visual Novels (VN), Shoot'em ups (Shmups), Musou, etc.  Also maintained are pre-orders for standard, limited and collector's edition games with key release dates provided.

I've wikified the thread to make it more friendly and open to others that can actively update with important information. You can find the wiki post directly below this one.

NOTE:  Please, leave the censorship discussion away from this thread.  It's common for japanese games to have questionable content outside of the country.  We want to keep discussions to the game itself and not about cultural/societal tolerance.

A message from Thorbahn:

Our CAG Japanese Niche Games Thread also has a community on PS4, where you can interact and game with other members of the thread.

Our moderators are: Draekon, Las_Hole, and Waffleswanton

You can basically friend any of our members, or any moderator, and you will be able to request to join the community under "Communities friends are in" tab, and a mod will approve your request.

You can also leave your PSN ID in the thread, saying you want to join, and we can invite you directly as well.

As always, have fun and enjoy your stay!

This is really starting to cheese me off:

Hello,

I'm so sorry for the delay in shipping this item to you. I completely understand your disappointment.

I've checked your order and found that "Zero Escape 3 with pre order bonus Vita - PlayStation Vita" is back-ordered.

Unexpected fluctuations in supply can add time to our original availability estimate. We have learned that this item is now back- ordered, and our supplier has not been able to let us know exactly when they expect to have more in stock.

We are working hard to obtain this item for you and we will ship it as soon as we are able to obtain it. This means that we will ship the item as soon as we receive it from our suppliers even if the estimated ship date has still not arrived.

You won't be charged until we ship it to you. On the date of shipment, we'll send you e-mail confirming the date, contents, and method of your shipment.

Your item may be available via an Amazon Marketplace seller (you'll be able to see if this is the case by conducting a normal product search on Amazon.com). If one of our partner sellers has the item, feel free to cancel your outstanding order and place a new one with Marketplace merchant.

If you'd rather cancel this item, I understand. To cancel the item, go to the URL below and click the "Need to cancel an item?" button:

[order URL]

Please visit the following link to provide the information we requested:

http://www.amazon.com/contact-us

One of our aims at Amazon.com is to provide a convenient and efficient service; in this case, we haven't met that standard. I'm truly sorry, and I hope you'll give us another chance in the future.

We hope to see you again soon.
Best regards,
Thavamuni P.
At this point, I'm starting to doubt the watch even being worth all this trouble.

EDIT: Amazon just informed me that the new estimated delivery date is 7/12, next Tuesday. This is your last chance, Amazon...

Danganronpa meets Idolmaster

I thought Danganronpa 3 anime does not have Danganronpa 2 characters...Looks like there is a main story line with Makato and the gang and another standalone series that retells the story of Danganronpa 2?

EDIT: Just Googled, two arcs, oh goodie, can't wait!

Curious about my Watch copy of Zero Time Dilemma I gave Amazon a call.

The representative was courteous and sympathetic, but ultimately unable to offer any assistance.  After corresponding with a manager he came back with the following (quoted to the best of my ability) "I had not thought this to be the case, but apparently an Amazon pre-order does not guarantee you a copy of the game."  I mentioned the mix up with the watch and the email regarding the items shipping separately, but he couldn't find any record of that in the system, nor could anyone he talked to.  He assured me to say that once the item was in stock, the shipping process would continue as per normal.  I said that was interesting, and pointed out that I could buy the game from Amazon, right now.  Thus there was nothing preventing them from sending me a copy of the game.  He then offered to cancel my existing order, refunding any money charged thus far, so that I could purchase that one instead.

Basically, as far as I can tell, the watch with game and the game are being treated by Amazon as different items.  Whoever sent that email about the item shipping separately apparently didn't tell Amazon.  I suspect that the games won't ship until Aksys provides the watches, and given what was said about the "preorder guarantee", perhaps not even then.

This is such garbage. You should let Aksys know about this somehow (not that they'll do anything about it, but still), as this is just making them look worse.

That feel when I'm one of the few who loves Star Wars Battlefront and always enjoy getting the Top Triple Ranks so the other 39 players are forced to see my Neptunia icon.

*Didn't get a e-mail for the Battlefield 1 Closed Alpha*

T-that's fine I didn't want to play it anyway...

Aksys does know that Amazon has botched everything. Aksys told them to ship the items separately, but Amazon isn't doing it. I'm guessing that Aksys wanted the insurance $$ from the damages to be spent on shipping 2 packages to each customer, but Amazon just threw us all $10 (or in my case cause I ordered it from .com and .ca on both platforms, $40). Anyways, the game will show up when it shows up. Be patient, or cancel the free watch & reorder if you absolutely need the game now.

In other news, Shiren LE:

This whole ZTD watch thing is really gross. I got impatient and just bought the game on PC, and I'm about halfway through it. Decided I would just cancel my watch order since I don't even want it at this point, but no, it's in some sort of "advanced shipping status" so I can't even cancel it.

Reading the last couple of pages is depressing. How the hell could Amazon drop the ball like that? Aksys is going to have to have a bunch of more watches made to make up for this shit.

What a bloody mess. I wouldn't recommend cancelling your watch order in case they eventually ship it. You should see about ordering a standard edition if you don't wanna wait. See if they can work out something with refunds or credits.

Questions about the watch orders is supposed to be directed to aksysdan https://twitter.com/Aksys_Danny

Don't expect any serious answers though.

Reading the last couple of weeks has been depressing.   Shit happens.  Cancel your order if you aren't happy.  Or buy the normal game if you have no patience.   The problem itself has been explained by Aksys.  People need to learn how to cope with things, especially trivial matters.   It's a toy watch ffs.  It's like dealing with a bunch of 7yr old children on here with this ZTD watch issue.  Mostly in the CE thread.

I honestly understand peoples issues with Amazon, but they are a business who operates a certain way, and Askys and fans expect them to change procedures, just ain't happening.

I personally can't stand Amazon a lot of the time, but all of this fall squarely on Askys. They took preorders for this a year ago, and then waited until days before hand to ship qty's where they where supposed to go?

Yeah, mistakes and damages happen, so is the world, but considering the time they had, these should have been completed and ready to go much sooner, then if something happened, there would have been correction time.

No customers have received their watches, but Askys was selling them last week for $50 dollars at that trade show they where at, how is that possible? They found non broken merchandise to make money on, but couldn't provide those to paying customers? I call BS at the highest level, and you should to!

Please stop saying Amazon is the problem in this situation, as that is far from the truth.

I mainly blame Aksys, but Amazon is also in the wrong for saying they'll ship the games separately and not following through. If that's not how they wanted to handle it because it's not their way of doing things they shouldn't have said that's what they were going to do.

Sadly, as I explained in another thread, Amazon CS can't be trusted. I have probably had CS promise me things in about 20+ situations with them over the years, and they have never once followed through.

I agree, that they shouldn't say one thing and do another, but due to my long history with them, I know whatever they say and do is lip service and not to be believed.

They did give out credits before any of this really got going, so in the end, that wasn't required, but they did do something. As others have stated, you can just cancel one order, place another and get the game $10 cheaper.

But trying to get them to follow through on that letter is just not going to happen, as they just have no way to make it happen. It least not from what I've seen and dealt with over the years.

I didn't expect to be able to use this again so soon. I don't have an order for this myself, but the general consensus here seems to be...

For me personally, I could honestly use this gif daily.

I just got a book in the mail from them that is my 3rd try at getting it not damaged, and guess what? It arrived damaged for the 3rd time.

Oh well, I guess I'll return it for a refund, and wait until I order some other things, so at least a box can be used, but that is still no guarantee, as the first book came in a box and was damaged.

Amazon is SHIT!

Yea, Amazon is awful with books. If you order a paperback or softcover book, expect it to put in a bubble mailer and arrive trashed. I once ordered a softcover comic book, and some genius thought it was a good idea to stuff it in a bubble mailer. To make things worse, the mail man then decides to bend it in order have it fit in the mailbox. Instantly returned that shit. Truly awful.

So speaking of Aksys A-E announcements:

So in short

PlayStation Vita otome games Bad Apple Wars, Collar x Malice, and Period Cube are coming to North America in 2017. Code: Realize Future Blessing, a fan disc for Code: Realize Guardian of Rebirth on PS Vita with new routes, is coming to North America. However, a release window wasn’t given. Aksys Games announced that Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters: Daybreak Special Gigs World Tour, an extended edition of Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters on PlayStation 3, is also coming to North America. It will be available physically and digitally for PlayStation 4, and digitally for PS Vita and PC. A release window wasn’t given.

You know I may try out the Otome games. Code: Realize was excellent IMHO so the fandisk will be bought quickly. I will play Tokyo Twilight with the updated game. Alright!

I'd be willing to give them leeway on this except

What? Just because they took orders a year ago doesn't mean everything is ready to go 6 months in advance. They can't simply make all the watches, send them to Amazon and say "hold these a while for us please". That's not how supply logistics work. Every cubic foot of Amazon's space is in constant use and worth money to them, so sending them things early simply isn't feasible. And that's not even the issue. The problem as far as it sounds, it sounds like Askys sent the watches out in a normal distribution timeframe, and Amazon smashed the entire pallet of product when they received it.

I'm sure that stock was put aside for the trade show before they sent Amazon the allocation that was to be distributed. Now with Amazon tied up in a damage claim between their insurance the manufacturer and Askys, Askys can't just pull stock out of their ass and say "use these, but please pay our damages still".

I wouldn't say Askys's response to all this is perfect, but their hands are tied for most of what they can do.

What are you talking about? Nobody has ever said Amazon damaged the watches. The watches were apparently damaged in transit from China or wherever they were made and at some point, they came into Aksys' possession prior to being shipped out to the distributor. After all, Gamestop didn't get their allocation either. Aksys also said that they had the trade show watches manufactured on an expedited basis and that they were a separate batch from the damaged ones. As such, none of what you said is accurate and it doesn't excuse very poor handling and logistics on the part of Aksys.

I rather have some galge games

My backlog is too strong so I dont mind not having ZTD for a while.
I know, right? I'm playing Tokyo Mirage Sessions and plan to play Grand Kingdom next and those two just came out last month. Plenty more besides that to play.

And the game has been listed for (at this point) over a year and the last game came out 4 years ago. What's another month? Amazon probably just doesn't want to spend money shipping out two pieces of one item that wasn't their fault. It was wrong of them to say otherwise, but I can understand why they wouldn't.

Another month is a big deal once you accidentally read a spoiler somewhere. Considering the main appeal of the game is the story, having that spoiled pretty much kills the main reason to play it.

Oh, apologies. Everything I've heard about this is quite hearsay.

So, I've been playing a ton of Future Tone. So far I'm in the top 100 for the 6.5, 7, and 7.5 star survival master courses. Today, I was at the cusp of getting knocked out on the 7 star course since i was #100 but I was able to get a better score.

Also got my first extreme perfect, but it was only on a 7.5 star chart. Extreme can be brutal since you need 95% or above to get an excellent instead of a 90% on the other modes. It makes trying to keep those holds going for as long as possible much more important.

Sorry to hear about everyone's Amazon and ZTD issues. I decided to pick up a stand alone copy at Gamestop. I never actually saw the CE when it went up for sale a long time ago.

It's weird

First they said I was getting my delivery today, then I got another update that not until the 11th, and now not until the 13th. I'm guessing they're going to constantly delay it until the watches come in and ship them together.

I don't mind the wait personally because I'm nowhere near done with 999 and I haven't even started Virtue's Last Reward, but I feel bad for you guys who have been waiting for the 3rd game forever.

You mean like halfway through the game when

I wish I had something to put here, but my game is still being held captive.
