Welcome to the Japanese niche games deals and discussion thread!  Feel free to talk about local and import Japanese games here.  Our goal is to maintain a thread dedicated to active deals on niche games including RPGs, Visual Novels (VN), Shoot'em ups (Shmups), Musou, etc.  Also maintained are pre-orders for standard, limited and collector's edition games with key release dates provided.

I've wikified the thread to make it more friendly and open to others that can actively update with important information. You can find the wiki post directly below this one.

NOTE:  Please, leave the censorship discussion away from this thread.  It's common for japanese games to have questionable content outside of the country.  We want to keep discussions to the game itself and not about cultural/societal tolerance.

It would be nice to have a complete collection of the games and the entire Trails story. I think I'd have to bet on us getting the Crossbell story as well. Trails of Cold Steel I&II sold quite well and we can only assume the same people will be in on buying 3 to finish the trilogy. I know I'll be buying whatever they have to sell us.

A coincidence that I finished and shared on V-day, but you're welcome all the same. Yeah I made and uploaded all the thumbnails, those were some difficult choices. Kokoro's came out quite nice.

Just a reminder that Fire Emblem Heroes summoning banners will be changing soon, so if you want higher chance of getting the current heroes on the banners, you better hurry up as they'll switch over at the end of the game time (11PM PST).

Conversely, for those that were waiting for the new heroes, save them up for later tonight. :D

Bleh. Yeah I would have liked some of those heroes. But my 6 or 7 pulls didn't give me any. Finally got a Camilla yesterday and then she turns out to be 4stars I was like wth? Really irritated with my RNG luck with this game.

Ack, I hate that.

I just got a 4* Marth earlier, and I was like, WTH!

But my anger quickly subsided since the rest of the roll was amazing, so it was still good in the end.

I was kind of tired seeing only 3* and 4* Robins for the past couple of weeks. Didn't think I'd ever roll a 5* one, lol.

I'm still trying to figure out how to get more feathers though, since I really want to 5* a hero I have. ~_~

Maybe that can be your route to go with Camilla, *wink wink* *nudge nudge*. :D

Yeah, I got mine earlier in the day. I'm about 4 hours into the game. Let's see how long we can keep this con going, and if anybody actually falls for it.

Obviously that is an alternate timeline since EdJericho doesn't play games, at least not JRPGs like Persona.

 
So how much defense do you actually get from accessories in Nioh? I found a paralysis charm that's giving me 20 points of defense. Compared to the one or two points I'd get from beads or other stuff. I know this particular one is tied to my current Spirit level, but it's only at 10. I get so inundated with loot that I never really have the time to distinguish between most of what I get. 

Overwatch related:

GSC's putting out a Tracer nendo. The press release said they'll be making a line of figures, so hopefully we see a 1/7 scale of D.Va in the near future. 

 
Just some more specific details about the incoming update later tonight, outside of the 4 new heroes.

Highlight of course is the stamina cost for training tower will be permanent, so that's solid.

Also, about another month of 2 orbs a day. :D

Seriously, how do you get orbs outside of the app releases bonuses,  and the occasional special map?   There's not going to be a point in playing after that.

Here's the details for the 4 new heroes,

[Introduction of characters and Julia] Appeared on "Keifu genealogy". The heirs of the Holy light of "Naga", Celis's half sister. Foreshadows the strength of core is a quiet man, but he is.

[Introduction of characters and Cerise] Appeared on "Keifu genealogy". In the inheritance of the holy sword "tirphing", is the half brother of Julia. Savior and light Imperial will be honored, but is actually not liking fight.

[Introduction of characters and Erik the Red] Appeared in the "Fire Emblem: Seima no kouseki'. Princess of runesu Kingdom and ephram's twin sister. This is a serious, tender-hearted, affectionate person. I'm much too easy to be worried but once in a while can be.

[Introduction of characters and Efraim] Appeared in the "Fire Emblem: Seima no kouseki'. The Prince of the Kingdom of renaiss is Erik the Red's twin brother. This is one brave character, hence the bold actions seem a bit scary sometimes, but justice my sister thought beautifully.

Bought 2 of each game from GameStop to get free shipping (forgot about saver). Received my 2 copies of SAO already. One was gutted and the other was sealed but the shrinkwrap was sliced open on the right side. Never been opened but still annoying.

I dont think you should focus much on the defense level of your accessories. You should focus on finding / equipping the accessories that have the most desirable perks for your character.

For example, i have a level 4 (im a level 62) paralysis charm with 12 Defense that i equipped in the first level.

One of its perks is "Sense Enemies" (a Unique Purple level perk) that shows all enemy locations on the map, that alone is worth more than any amount of defense points.

Armor is where the defense levels matter the most since the chest piece alone can reach upwards towards 100+ defense (for heavy armor). You can also use Soul match in the blacksmith to raise the level and defense of your armor while maintaining any perks already attached to them.

The chest piece i have equipped i've been leveling (soul matching) along side my character since it has the perk "Life restore with Armita."

That allows me to restore some health with every kill and anytime i gain armita (from opening chest, crates etc.)

However you can't soul match accessories so their defense level will always stay the same until you find a better accessory with perks that you want.

It would've made more sense if you had to spend SP instead, since you end up with a lot extra after all skills are learned anyways, so there's just a surplus of it sitting there doing nothing.

 
I'm kinda pissed I never got a takumi since he seems so strong in arena battles, but I got a 5* Julia on my first roll of the new heroes. She's my first 5* Mage.
 
Looks like more areas to battle through in story maps, and also new quests, which are questionable at best since you need certain heroes to complete them.

Very questionable. You have to get all 4 the new characters to unlock the hard mode and lunatic mode version of the quests. And it looks like they're all 5* only.

But hey at least we get 9 more orb maps and a doable orb quest.

I still need a Camilla so I can fuck up those damn takumis! I'll have to do with sacrificing a unit and bursting them with nino for now. Close counter such a broken skill.

That and Hector's ranged counter are very broken skills. If I see any of those fools on Arena I usually don't choose them.

I laughed at that way more than I needed to at that.

Cause I can imagine him behind his tent trying to remember how to lunge.

Finally got another summon and pulled a 5 Star Julia and was very happy.

That Naga skill is bomb.

That Falcom president mentioned something about choosing the PS4 only route to Sen III to "help sell internationally" or something like that. Though it's fairly meaningless, it does well imply Falcom wants to see the Trails series in the US and beyond which means English translation. BUT...it's still meaningless. :whistle2:(

Well keep in mind, my bro will only play two series that's related to anime: the Trails series and Valkyria Chronicles. He laughs at me whenever I miss a note too.

Hah, well, a CAG local in Cali, lol. Hopefully I'll plan to go there again one day for such an occasion.

Either ways, Fire Emblem isn't really my thing, so sorry guys. (Only play Metal Slug Attack and BlazBlue on Mobile daily, lol.)

And speaking of GG/BB costumes, be aware that fan-mods exist on the PC version, so...here are some examples. Hopefully KT can try to make the outfits look variously different than this. (Though I really doubt it how they'll compare to fan-mades to the Official.)

During my handful of rerolls, one of the results I tossed back had Takumi from the set he was not featured in. I haven't read whether or not they're rotating people out of the pool, but I just thought I'd mention that he wasn't exclusive.

Oh, and to those of you that read the first sentence and said "you did wha..." the rest were bad three stars.

You have a 3% chance to get any 5* hero as well as a 3% chance to get a 5* hero featured in the banner. So heroes featured in the banner have a greater chance of being obtained, but aren't the only ones. Plus every orb you attempt and don't obtain a 5*, it increases your chances of finding a 5* by 0.05%, making it 3.25% for each if you don't get any 5* in five pulls/orbs.

Wanted Eirika, but ended up rolling both Seliph and Julia in the same 5 summon which was pretty surprising.

But a few rolls later, finally got her. Now I'm done with this banner, and will wait for whatever they announce next (I really, really want an Azura rate up...).

 
I've now gone five complete rolls without receiving a 5* character and I'm pretty pissed off.  I've exhausted all of my orb intake possibilities.  Super irritated with this game right now.  Could have spent $40 and received that kind of disappointment.  It's really frustrating when I keep facing teams of 3-4 5* armies of actually decent characters in the arena, and occasionally getting beaten by one crit.

You don't need 5* for arena though. Enemy levels and stats are based on your level and stats. If you have a team of 5*, theyre just gonna have a stronger team of 5*. A well composed team of 4* is better than your 4 individually strongest units in the arena.

fuck Takumi though.

And assholes who put a level 1 guy on their team so that their other characters severely outlevel yours unless you did the same thing.

Wow, the new Digimon has only been out 2 weeks and it's already gotten such a drop, and this isn't even GS's anime week sale. That kinda sucks, not for us consumers, but for them. It's one of my most beloved series too, and I remember how difficult it was to get them to localize the first game, and then have them surprise us with a quick announcement of the second one. And this is happening when the Tri movies are coming stateside too.

Mainly waiting on Choose Your Legend banner, but early leaks of the next banner might be a snoozefest.
