Welcome to the Japanese niche games deals and discussion thread!  Feel free to talk about local and import Japanese games here.  Our goal is to maintain a thread dedicated to active deals on niche games including RPGs, Visual Novels (VN), Shoot'em ups (Shmups), Musou, etc.  Also maintained are pre-orders for standard, limited and collector's edition games with key release dates provided.

I've wikified the thread to make it more friendly and open to others that can actively update with important information. You can find the wiki post directly below this one.

NOTE:  Please, leave the censorship discussion away from this thread.  It's common for japanese games to have questionable content outside of the country.  We want to keep discussions to the game itself and not about cultural/societal tolerance.

I ordered a copy, and no it was not the Vanargand Edition. It was the regular. My local best buy has two copies of the special, but I'm not sure I care enough to return and pay more for it.

Blizzard said we would be earning the same amount of gold because of increased currency drops, but that has not been the case for me. In my last 74 pre-patch loot boxes I made an average of 800g for every 15 loot boxes. My first 15 updated loot boxes gave me only 250g. I'm not seeing an increase in gold drops, and now I'm not making any gold from duplicates.

I'm glad coming into this event I had 27,000g. I doubt even 100 loot boxes would give me enough gold to afford one 2017 legendary skin.

I still think the new loot boxes are awesome. I'm close to having all the regular content Commons and Rares, so I'll soon start making gold off of duplicates again. And now loot boxes are fun to open because I'm seeing the hero gallery fill up. Though it would suck if I didn't have all that gold saved up.

I havent got a single duplicate since the new loot box changes so to me it's way better now

Very good points! But when you previously opened your pre-patch loot boxes, did you calculate the average every 15 lootboxes, or did you do it all together and divide 74 by 5? I feel like because of the rng, you haven't had a golden coin box yet, which used to give 500 coins or 1,500 after tripled now. So if your next box, or any of your next couple of boxes has a single golden coin box, it would instantly tip the scale over.

I also didn't get the impression duplicates were much help in gaining coins, since most of them give minuscule amounts, like 5 coins a voice line or spray. I felt like it was the golden coin chests where it really started adding up.

 
Duplicates were actually quite decent at accumulating coins. I'd wager they were around 50% of your actual income if you had a decent amount of stuff already. Though a legendary currency chest still only gives 500 and nitrosmob and I have both gotten them during the event. I haven't seen numbers for lootboxes after the patch though, so I can't really give useful information on them.

I have it for Vita and could help you out sometime as a backup option to the other person that offered. On weekends in particular I could have time to go online and mash buttons hoping to see pretty animations.

yep Assuming you are playing femc's route you can choose shinjirou as a love interest via the moon social link and one of the events in the link is they have sex.

And as you know mitsuru has cameras recording in everyones room. Her and the pun guy are shown watching the mc sleep on a few story occasions. There's also big scene she makes when she finds junpeis room trashed and him not in it video you can watch. You can watch yukari in a maid costume during the hurricane as one such scene in the video room on the top floor of the dorms as well. It's hilariously good. I think there was another one where mitsuru herself is lounging around her own room in nothing but a towel.

Well if you look at the glass half full, it gave you less of a chance to get Junebug D.Va in other lootboxes, and more chances of getting an event legendary in the other boxes.

 
Totally forgot about the free Golden lootbox thing, got Orissa's Carbon Fiber Skin, plus 2 Doomfist skins.

Either way I'm happy this event seems less grindy (Atleast for me since I already had like 99% of the original Summer games stuff except the damn Mercy tennis spray that evaded me). Down to like 22k worth of stuff already and I'm sitting on 7k coins.

Didn't the Male MC get it down with Elizabeth too? And did Akihiko get a hidden camera scene too? It's been a while so I forgot. Also, how did they even do the hidden camera scenes in P3P? Isn't there no character models in the real world? I thought everything was just a 2D screen you navigated from like a point and click game. I also wished the Persona games had more character customization and choices, I would've made my FeMC a super slut.

In P3P, you only heard the voice over while a static pic was shown. It is one of the great failings of P3P (and why I want P3 Platinum). Fortunately, they are real easy to find on youtube.

Here's how my last 74 pre-patch loot boxes broke down, and how my first 45 new loot boxes have gone. I saved recordings of me opening the loot boxes because I wanted to keep track.

1st 15 pre-patch, 1335 gold (chests plus duplicates)
1 gold chest, 2 purple chests, 2 blue chests

2nd 15 pre-patch, 755 gold
1 purple chest, 3 blue chests

3rd 15 pre-patch, 995 gold
2 purple chests, 3 blue chests, 1 gold duplicate

4th 15 pre-patch, 1440 gold
1 gold chest, 1, purple chest, 3 blue chests, 1 gold duplicate

Final 14 pre-patch, 855 gold
2 purple chests, 3 blue chests


1st 15 updated, 250 gold (no more duplicates)
1 purple chest, 2 blue chests

2nd 15 updated, 1150 gold
1 gold chest, 3 purple chests, 3 blue chests

3rd 15 updated, 200 gold
1 purple chest, 1 blue chest

From my first 45 updated loot boxes I got 1600 gold. Take even the lowest three sets of 15 from the pre-patch loot boxes, and I still made 1000 more gold from 44 pre-patch loot boxes.

Also, from those 74 pre-patch loot boxes I got 5380 gold. 2700 from chests, and 2680 from duplicates. It was practically fifty-fifty. From those 74 loot boxes I got only 47 new items. That's why a good amount of gold could be made from duplicates. Duplicates were pretty much all I got.

I'm making less gold, but I still prefer the new loot boxes.

My MC only went for Aigis but she didn't put out. MC even kissed her and touched her in the "you-know-where."

He did get it on with Elizabeth though, so at least he didn't die a virgin.

For those who been sitting on Valkyria Revolution on Amazon. 

Looks like the price is starting to slowly creep back up.

Had it in my wish list to track and the bottom out price was $15.48 (from what i saw) but on the product page its showing $15.53, then when added to cart its $15.55. 

So if you've been waiting for a sub $15 price i dont think its gonna happen. (for now) 

 
Pretty sad but I think for now I will skip Monster Hunter Stories, Demon Gaze 2, and Etrian Odyssey 5 mainly cause of job stuff, but also way too many games in a short period. EOV will go cheaper (hoping to buy it close to $20 like every other Etrian Odyssey game I've purchased.). Monster Hunter Stories does look nice though, and will likely pick up later on in a buy 1 get 1 40/50% bestbuy 3DS sale like I usually buy most of my 3DS games. Also somewhat bored of dungeon crawlers....

Danganronpa 3 and Ys 8 will likely be skipped at first too since I haven't beaten the prequels.

Only Dungeon crawler I'm going for is Mary Skelter since I've been waiting for this one for quite a while.

I'm a bit tired of Sekai Project doing Kickstarters (aren't they successful enough yet to not do these?) This one is for a game developed by the Sunrider creators called Shining Song Starnova. Seeking $40,000. Best tier for the game is likely the $30 tier which gets you a physical copy and Steam/Denpasoft codes. Yes mentioning Denpasoft means 18+ version as well.

Yeah the only kickstarters I've given money to is Shenmue 3 because I could feel how happy fans of the series were and how unlikely Shenmue 3 was to ever come out. I haven't played any of the series yet, but I heard it was close enough to Yakuza that I'll probably enjoy it. Sega needs to get on that Shenmue 1 & 2 remake

What has been keeping you from Danganronpa? The two main games aren't very long. (I need to rectify my lack of playing Ultra Despair Girls, it's literally in my Vita sitting right in front of me.)

I'll always remember Sekai Project as the people who say "hey guys, we will also do a Vita version as a stretch goal. So please back!"

It's been years and they still havent fulfilled their promises for the other ones.

I'm pretty sure that's most developers that have done Kickstarters over the past five or so years.
 
I actually should play Danganronpa 3. I beat the first and it was good. Heard #2 is only better. I do like visual novels too...maybe it will be my Vita game of the moment.
