The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games.
There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

If you see a deal, please post!

NOTE: Please check the most recent page for the latest deals.

And I want to thank many of you in advance who submit their deals and their support!!!

Yeah, I find it best to order everything online unless there's an amazing deal involved that I have to personally go get it. Besides, someone who works in a store that sells games/anime/accessories giving you a strange look for your gaming purchase is like someone from a XXX store judging you for purchasing a porn flick.

I couldn't pass up that deal. I've been seeing Tales of Xillia: CE go for $99 or more everywhere else. If I didn't already own Ni No Kuni, and Tales of Graces f, I would have grabbed them too. If only Tales of Symphonia Chronicles: CE was still available for pre-order.

There's two sellers who have Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers for $21.82 eligible for Prime on Amazon atm.

The one sold by game-ware is confirmed to be the LE version with soundtrack,

http://www.amazon.com/Shin-Megami-Tensei-Summoner-Hackers-Nintendo/dp/B00APBF8A6/ref=aag_m_pw_dp?ie=UTF8&m=AR4NNIQ7L46AT

the one sold by Shark Distributors is confirmed to be just the standard version without the soundtrack,

http://www.amazon.com/Shin-Megami-Tensei-Summoner-Hackers-Nintendo/dp/B00APBF8A6/ref=sr_1_1?m=A348IB18T4L7NM&s=merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1387406401&sr=1-1&keywords=soul+hackers

If anybody was interested in picking up the LE you can get it from game-ware, but there's only about 9 left currently.

Awesome, thanks for the heads up.

Just bought (all with full cases and manuals) from GS:

Guided Fate Paradox

Hyperdimension Neptunia

Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell Ar Ciel

$63.89 after tax due to some coupons.

I need to stop buying things.

In the last few weeks I've purchased:

Hyperdimension Neptunia MK2

Ar tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel

Mugen Souls

Tales of Xillia: CE (Thanks to Thermopyle's links)

And Ys Seven download on my PS Vita

Luckily had some Amazon credit saved up and was only out about $15 on the top three games, including Super Mario DS for my step son. I'm looking to get Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory and Trinity Universe, once they go down a little more and I've beaten some of the ones just purchased.

I really, REALLY, need to stop buying things....also get more sleep.

Decent enough games possibly sans Mugen Souls...which I find ok for how much I've played it (about 2 hours), Ar Tonelico Qoga I find is garbage though...the battles are terrible, item creation is very slow, only good part is the diving. PS2 versions are better...I hope if we get the spiritual successor to these games (forget the name now but it's a ps3 game), I hope it's nothing like Qoga. Terribly boring game imho.

I read a lot of reviews, and watched a ton of video game play on the games. Figured I'd give them a try. Like I said, luckily they were mostly paid for with Amazon credit, so I won't have too much buyer's remorse if they are indeed, boring. A lot of the time, I find that some of the JRPGs don't get too enthralling until several hours into the game, which pushes a lot of gamers away.

I have been looking at snagging Ar tonelico, and Ar tonelico II if I find them at the right price. Also, repurchase the Xenosaga series.

That is a HD collection I would love to see happen...or even a simple re-release at this point.
That's for sure. They were great games and I regret not playing them as closely as I should have. I wish they could have bridged Xenogears and Xenosaga. Tetsuya Takahashi wrote and directed both games and twenty or so staff members worked on both games as well. Of course Xenogears was released by Square and Xenosaga was by Monolith so the original storyline was changed.

I would buy a Wii U for a Xenosaga HD Collection. It's just too bad Nintendo and Bamco won't ever come together to do it. That and HD collections don't do too well in Japan

Arc SystemWorks "Family" games appear to be on sale on eShop.

Family Kart 3D - $3.49

Family Tennis 3D - $4.89

Arc Style: Soccer! - $4.89

and Circle Entertainment's "Sweet Memories Blackjack" is $2.79.

I'm curious what game you're talking about. Is this it?

It is tempting...but can't buy anything from Amazon until I receive my new cards due to the Target hack :(

Was Soul Hackers from Amazon the standard or limited edition? $10 was a steal...
Some people got limited versions and some people got standard ones, probably based on which warehouse they were shipped from.
I believe for "Soul Hackers", most I read that people received the LE version. I received the LE. It's "Tales of Xillia" where people got limited or standard...I got the standard but because the website showed it was supposed to come with the extra content, Amazon refunded my money and let me keep the game for free.

My Soul Hackers from the lightning deal was the normal version, so I doubt I was the only one who got the normal one.

For those of you who received the standard of "Soul Hackers", did you try calling Amazon about it?  They may give you the same deal that some of us had with "Tales of Xillia", get a free game and full/partial refund.

I've got a BestBuy gamers coupon, $15 off Etrian Odyssey untold. Can I price match in Best Buy in-store (currently $39.99) with Amazon's lower price (about $30), then use the coupon to be able to get the game for less than $15?

Should work. Try it. At worst you can get it for $30.

Unless their policy has changed recently then no, they're not supposed to allow price matching and GCU coupons together. You could luck out and get someone who will override it for you, though.

I was wondering how used games are for Best Buy (online), do they come with the manual or cover or is it like Gamestop.com as most of the used games I have received, no cover or manual just the case?

I decided to get "Lollipop Chainsaw" and it shows as $9.99 but it shows as $8.99 on the cart via used.  I never purchased a used game from Best Buy, so I figured I would give it a try.

====================

Is it just me or all the used games prices showing up differently  (lower)  on bestbuy.com when you add them to your Kart?

There are some pretty nice deals on JP/niche games to be had on GoHasting.com today (12/22).
They have 50% off all used games (and movies/books/cds) with the promo code 'JINGLEBELLS'.
It's seemingly only valid today (12/22) and only for Used items - not 'Previously Viewed'.
Check out kodave's thread for more details: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/269178-gohastings-deals-thread-sunday-1222-only-50-off-used-video-games-books-cds-movies/

Here are a few choice deals I picked up earlier today (prices are after coupon, before shipping):

360 - Tales of Vesperia - $10.67

http://www.gohastings.com/product/GAME/Tales-of-Vesperia/sku/277725996.uts#.UrdvuuLhNHY

PS3 - Tales of Graces f - $18.68
http://www.gohastings.com/product/GAME/Tales-of-Graces-f/sku/287417763.uts#.UrdvpeLhNHY

PS3 - Catherine - $7.47
http://www.gohastings.com/product/GAME/Catherine/sku/285211450.uts#.Urdvy-LhNHY

Yeah I saw it and was so mad I missed out on ar tonelico, atelier paper mario and fire emblem. 11 and 13 for the first two would of totally made me pick them up. I also would of gladly picked radiant dawn up even without the half off. and arc rise fantasia was about 16 too which seemed like a good buy for the gameplay.

tldr missed deals and I'm sad

Yay, my mom bought me FFX/2 and Symphonia Chronicles for PS3 for xmas. That stretches the anticipation of xmas even further out!
That's like an awesome mean tease. You technically have the rights to play them, but you have to wait until March, lol.

Time and Eternity interests me more among the 3 NIS games recently released.  I'm not very good at strategy role playing games like Disgaea, The Guided Fate paradox, and Final Fantasy Tactics.

Also, wish Dangan Ronpa was being released on the 3DS instead of just on the Vita.

I swear the Monster Hunter 3DS game $19.99 Amazon price is very sporadic.  For those who use camelcamelcamel for notices...once that thing shows up at $19.99, after five minutes it's back to its reg. price or it's gone.  Of the three times in the last three days, had it in my cart once...was about to purchase it and then it went back up to $26.99....  oh well..

The Guided Fate Paradox isn't a SRPG but it is harder than the other games you mentioned. You only control one character, it's more like Mystery Dungeon, Izuna, ZHP, etc.

I received my used Lollipop Chainsaw

Used Games for Best Buy is hit or miss.
I received "Lollipop Chainsaw" from bestbuy.com and was happy it came with case, insert, manual and it was shrinkwrapped (not sure if they do that with all their used games).
