The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games.
There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

If you see a deal, please post!

NOTE: Please check the most recent page for the latest deals.

And I want to thank many of you in advance who submit their deals and their support!!!

I ordered Bloodborne from BBY with GCU, but only because it's From Software. You know, the guys that brought us Enchanted Arms.

Well, this made me happy. I should be getting my Criminal Girls LE tomorrow =) I ended up having the same trouble as most everyone else with my NISA order.

Thank you for shopping at NIS America, Inc..

Your order no. NISSO-13XXXX has been fulfilled.

Was your keychain in the shipping box in baggies or in the box with the game -sound track

my keychain was just in the bubble wrap outside of the gamebox itself. They were pushing the keychain as part of the limited ed i was going to keep the item sealed so cant call it complete if the keychain is not in the Box with the game-cd-book

good luck calling NIS called them 3 times about this and emailed them never heard a thing or got a phone call back (always says leave a message and they get back to you)
Just keep the keychain sealed in its little baggie and tape it to the side or top of the sealed LE. Now its all one package again ;)

people are buying it on one hand to collect on the other because they need another game for their vita. and probably a small faction of pedobears

HEY....okay, yeah you're probably right for the most part. My problem is I'll see that damn notice that its down to under 5% and my collector sensors kick in. Criminal Girls is one of those games I'll play and switch to porn if my wife walks in to make it less awkward.

HA, That is how I feel. I told my wife I wanted to get a game, but didn't want to be that creepy guy even though its a neat looking game. Her response, "just buy it for me and play it ten, then its less creepy"

I kind of feel creepy playing Hyperdimension Neptunia games.

I suppose tecnoically I am buying it to collect (really don't need more games for the vita) but the main reason for me buying it is because I want to send the message I want every game nis publishes in japan.

still really wish they had released La Pucelle Ragnarok :/ (I believe there was some issues because they weren't the ones that originally released it in english but still)

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I want to support the localization of Japanese games to the West since we miss out on so many amazing games because they might not garner the interest needed to do so.

on the subject of p5 I hope they show off a better time management system or at the very least put the dungeon crawling back to nights again like it was in p3. p4 forcing it to days was just dumb. You barely have anything to do at night in the games as is. They could at least allow all social links from say school work at night too.
I had sort of the opposite problem. In 3, between having to go to tartarus more often than the TV due to progress not saving if you didn't make it far enough, and the tired mechanic, I had a hard time trying to get my stats up high enough to actually do half the social links after school. 4 having evenings free to read or do part time jobs (plus the five evening-only social links) was really nice. I don't really care either way what 5 does, but I thought there was plenty to do in the evenings in 4.

Looks like teddie is talking about P4:DAN over at http://p-ch.jp/

Not sure for how much longer.

EDIT: Already over. lol Anyway, you can use that link to watch the Persona stream that's going on today.

Surprisingly NISA replied to my email order inquiry within two days with my shipping update. I did use a debit card rather than paypal.

the tired mechanic is a negligable status condition. So long as you don't return to the first floor in the original when your party members are tired they wont go home. And they lessened it in p3p.

Stat wise its easy to max some of the social link stats within the first couple months of the game. Charm typically being the one you can do very early in. since you gain boosts during links and school and you can get non time consuming boosts from the shrine and special boosts its not very hard. all it takes is just doing the right activity to get said boost. p4 doesn't need as many stats as 3 did as often either to start links. most you can get to 2-5 without needed a certain stat level. I think day care was one of the few that required it from the start. in p3 you don't get access to the majority of night s links until a bit in either. Only one I even remember you getting semi early access to is the hermit link mc only. links are even later in p3p femc route so you have more than enough time for stat boosts. plus walking kuro adds a boost to your other s links.

I forgot about nanako and dojima but those you have to rush through nearly as soon as they open up due to story dead line. I only remember 4 though devil tutor and those 2. what was the 5th night link?

I agree that time management in general needs a complete overhaul in 5. They need to add in more time to do stuff, group activities and the very nice case of moon link from 4 allowing you to ditch school. school was generally time wasted anyway.

I don't like how I feel like I have to use a 100% S-link walkthrough in order to enjoy Persona.   I don't have the patience to play through the games twice and when I do that, I'll wait for the updated version with additional content.   But you really feel like you miss out on a lot of stuff if you play the game without a walkthrough.

I received my copy yesterday, played it for about 3 hours cause of the New WoW raid. It's... Grindy as hell. There's no equipment system so you're just grinding for a secondary type of EXP to learn New skills and boosts.

Battle system is interesting but the fact that you can't exactly choose what you wanna do in any given turn gets annoying. Especially in boss battles which are pretty brutal if you don't grind.

Level design (and quests) is terrible, absolutely garbage with pointless backtracking and a billion fetch objectives.

I don't regret my purchase but I knew what I was getting into from the start. If you're on the fence... It's a mediocre game at best.

Can probably answer more questions about it as I'm rushing through it.

I find them a lot more fun to play without one though. I like living the days how I choose and seeing where my choices get me rather than doing what I have to do that day to 100% something.

I just YouTube / read transcripts for the rest. When I finish the game I look up social links to see what I missed and check them out, or finish up the scenes for those I didn't get a chance to max out.

I just want to not have to jump through so many hoops to get s links when there would be more than enough time in game if they didn't waste so much of it and allowed better scheduling.  sundays as an example only have 2 halfs which is stupid when they should be 3 at least.

Are you trying to earn all the trophies in Persona 4 Golden or are you just trying to experience all of the dialogue? If you are trying to get all the trophies, you should know it takes a minimum of two playthroughs.

Thanks for your honest opinion. I was almost thinking of buying it, but i'll wait and wait till it goes to like $20ish or so. I may as well go beat another mediocre niche game I never finished in the past Conception 2. I just stopped...it was pretty easy and I was getting bored of it, but I should try to beat it....have like 2 more fields to go I think. I have MH4u (yay) and Evolve (could be crap) anyway soon....so yeah...thanks for the opinion.

I feel like I enjoyed P4G more because I used DoubleJump's guide for the PS2 version to get all of the S-Links. It felt so incredibly satisfying to max out the last S-Link 2 days before the very end of the game (Golden's bonus content).

I ended up platnuming Conception 2, and yeah, it wasn't a very good game. I'd say that 60% of the trophies are just a grind and I really didn't have much trouble with the bosses apart from not being at the right level for the final boss and the DLC bosses. I can say I'll never go back and play it.

The next set of DLC for Theatrhythm FF: Curtain Call will include "Vamo' alla Flamenco" from FFIX, "Frog's Theme" from Chrono Trigger, and a track from NieR: http://www.siliconera.com/2015/02/03/theatrhythm-final-fantasy-curtain-call-adds-music-nier/

HYPED :whee:
Frog's theme? Sold. Damn this game is getting a lot of DLC purchases from me.

Wasn't sure at first, but you know what, I liked it. Not like I needed another reason to buy this, but it doesn't hurt.

Atlus are masters at trolling
last time I checked atlus has never created a fake company, hired actors to fake a new head of the company, nor have they released a really hard one hour demo that hid a secret that it was part of a much bigger series but you would only know that if you made it to the end. (the list could go on for a while but this is the more recent stuff)

Kojima is the master, Atlus is just a cut above average :p

Kojima still made MGS4, and he can never apologize enough for it.
