Japanese PSN Promo, spend 5000yen get up to 1000yen back

You can use google translate or use Chrome's built in translator.

And if you can't read Japanese nor enjoy Japanese games to start off with, probably not something you want to venture in. Everything about JPSN is, well Japanese, including the items sold on the page.

and FYI to all. Japanese add-on will not work with your USA / UK etc copy of games. even Asian ones will not work for some game.

It depends on your bank and/or credit cards DCC rate, which varies depending on the card brand, card type, interchange rate, time, date and so on.

Link is dead, could someone summarize the details here? Such as, do I have to spend 5000 yen in one transaction, or does it count as long as I spend 5000 yen over a period of time? Can I spend 5000 yen using the prepaid cards, or do I have to spend 5000 yen using a credit card? When will we be getting the 1000 yen back? This thread is lacking severely in details

Thanks for the heads up, OP.

The exchange rate sucks so hard this is NOT a deal to people in the US looking for a deal on games they could buy in their own region.

For people with a Japanese account, you get rewards for buying anything between the 7th and the 20th. At the end, if you've spent a total of X you get Y returned to your account.

500 - 1,499 yen = 100 yen
1,500 - 2,499 yen = 300 yen
2,500 - 4,999 yen = 500 yen
5,000 yen + = 1,000 yen
Are you guys really interested in the Japanese PSN store just cause you'll get some money back?
Most people are interested in it, because it has PSone Classics not available in the US, e.g. DonPachi and DoDonPachi.

Yes, any PS3 game from any region of the world is playable on any PS3 i.e. they are never region-locked. The only issue is the obvious one ie language.

Well, I was going to spend the money sooner or later anyways, as I specifically stocked up on yen cards because I knew a lot of Hatsune Miku DLC + Dreamy Theater 2nd was coming out. I just checked my account and as it turns out I have exactly 5000 yen in it. If I'm going to get 1000 yen back by spending it now, then there's no point in waiting because it's likely the only way I'll ever save money on the Japanese PSN store. I'm sure the Japanese PSN store has deals like the US one every week, but without someone like FriskyTanuki to tell me each week what's on sale, this is the next best way to save money.

Here is a fixed version of the link:
http://www.jp.playstation.com/psn/store/campaign110907.html

It isn't 20% back but based on the tier you fall into based on how much you spend. There doesn't appear to be a restriction on the number of transactions or what funding methods, just that you have bought something over 500 yen in total. At the end of the month (the 28th) they will send an email with the code for the additional funds.

Crap, I forgot this ended yesterday! I needed more money to spend so I was waiting for the 3000 yen code I ordered to come in, and it did last night. I waited until now to redeem it and buy something, but it's 6 hrs past the 20th in Japan _ _# Fail, now I only get 500 yen instead of 1000 yen

Aw damn, I never saw this thread until now. I've been wanting to buy some PSone Japan exclusive games for a long time now but never really had a reason to pull the trigger, damn
