Japanese XBOX controller S

CAGiversary!
Here I'm not even looking for a cheap ass deal. I'm looking for a deal period. I need to know where to buy the original Japanese S controllers, not the cheapass (in a bad way) American knockoffs. If you ever get the opportunity to try one out, you'll probably notice a slight difference in the thumbsticks and shoulder buttons, and when you play Halo competitively, those things make a difference.

On a related note, does anyone know a good site on controller modding? I mean like useful spring lightenings and action shortenings. I already know the asthetic stuff...

No, I'm sorr, it isn't. I already checked lik-sang. The biggest visual difference is the jewel, it is bigger and a different color. Also the buttons are different.

For who said he can't tell a difference, most people can't. I play ALOT of Halo, much of it competitively, and from what I can tell that controller has: slightly better (imo) action on the thumbstick, eiaser shoulder buttons to aid in pistoling (Halo 1), and the controller and face buttons lend to clawing easier (clawing is using your middle finger to shoot and using your index finger to press face buttons. Crucial for aimed melees).

Thanks for the quick replies guys.

The controllers are the same except for a few small differences in the Japanese one. 1: The back and start buttons are not recessed. 2: The cord is about a foot shorter. 3: The logo in the middle is green and only says XBOX (no X logo). 4: The ABXY buttons are clear with indentations for the letters.

Seriously. Those are the only differences. I have several of both of them. There is not a difference in the sticks or triggers. Unless you're thinking of the original XBOX controllers in which case, yes, they are horrible.

Ok guys, after looking at lik-sang one more time, I managed to find one:

However, I'd still like one in black, color just one of my idiosyncrasies I can't get over. If anyone finds one it's be awesome.

On a related note, does anyone know a good site for info on modding controllers? Not asthetically, I already know those, and I am very aware of the thumbstick mod, but there are other small things I'd like to learn how to change. I might just have to plank down $50 and figure it out myself...

Ok, thanks for the help everyone. I also figured out the black ones were actually a limited US release. As for the guy who said there was no difference, I beg to differ. The triggers seem signifigantly lighter, something different about the thumbsticks, and also the differences in the buttons makes it much easier to claw, a must in competitive Halo.

Mr. Sober Irishman:

I fancy myself to be an extremely solid Halo player, have been told that I should play competitive on numerous occasions but I fail to see the advantage in clawing.

I know you have elaborated on it somewhat, but I don't see how positioning yourself in a weird manner would help your chances. Would you mind elaborating more and in detail. I would love to know. I am not doubting you, this is just the first I've heard of this...Moreover, I use Green Thumb so this "clawing" may be irrelevant to me...

The Japanese controller 2 is much, much better, its the only Xbox controller I'll ever use. I was lucky enough to find a couple recently.

Best place to look is at B&M stores, like Walmart, Bestbuy, maybe EB, etc. A lot of those places still have some laying around.

I was lucky enough to find one at my local Best Buy about 2 months ago for $25. Like dafoomie suggested, try some local B&M stores; there is a chance they could always have one or two sitting around.

I'm going to look into a Japanese controller-S now, because I have noticed my index fingers getting very tired after playing a game that uses the triggers extensively, such as Spiderman 2. Thanks.
