I have a job interview this week and want to know specific questions for the position I'm applying for. I heard that I'll have interviews by 2 staffs. I may bring my resume for a chance to get hired.

They might ask situational questions or just the standard questions. Be prepared for both. Do a bit of research online and you can find some common ones. Since you're going to work with customers be prepared to make it sound like you care about the customer and helping them.

One summer back in college I applied for a job for whatever position the cart-boy is. They weren't interest in hiring summer seasonal workers. If I had been interviewed and got the job, it probably would have been better than the job I ended up holding that summer, but overall I don't think I missed out on anything. /coolstorybro

Be prepared for a lot of,"has there ever been a time where you had had to take responsibility for something you didn't do?" and other such nonsense.

start making up the bs now

Yeah you'll have to say a lot of bullshit for a bullshit interview. Might even get asked retarded questions that you can't relate to.

As per my seasonal job interview last year: you'll get a few situational questions and some random BS ones. I had previously worked retail though so I was pretty much guaranteed the position. /woowoowooyouknowit

Is it for a store I am assuming? I got hired for a distribution center and I had to interview with four different people within the same day. I've never told so much BS in my life as I did within those two hours. Then I waited I think three weeks before I found out if I had the job or not. After that I had to take a physical test, which was surprisingly difficult, and a hearing test. It was worth it because its a very good paying job with alright benefits but crappy hours.
When they ask if you've ever been convicted of a felony, you should respond, "Convicted? No, never convicted."
LOL @ this. :applause:

Seriously though OP, just be yourself and tell them what they want to hear: You are a friendly people person and a hard worker who will be there every day. That's all they care about... I assume you are young since your looking for advice on a interview at Target. Just remember they need a hard worker like you more than you need them! There are a billion entry level jobs like this out there especially during the holiday season. You will be fine, just have fun. :D

Retail can be kinda fun, I did it a few years back in between real jobs for lack of a better term. I stocked overnights which consisted of listening to podcasts/radio all night while flirting with every woman that came through and laughing at all the drunks/freaks buying booze. I screwed around revamping my department and got so many compliments from managers/customers that I kept getting promotions and raises. I had topped out pay wise about 6 months and $5 an hour later unless I became department manager which I didn't want as I was working on getting into my current job.

I agree...start making shit up now and use what other people did as your response.

I interviewed for target 2 years ago for a CSR Team lead position they said I was qualified for. They had me come back for 4 days for interviews. Everything went well and I thought I got the job. Days later I get an email saying I didn't get the job...when I called them to see what happened they said that my file (since I worked for them 6 years earlier said no rehire..)
and I was like wth? I told them I put in my two weeks notice when I left 6 year earlier and thought I left under good terms. Turns out that the idiot HR person back then burned me on my file when I left. fuck that.

Geez they had access to my file all that time yet put me thru 4 days of interviews?!?!?

It's pretty easy really. At least here, they have 3 people interview you and the questions from each (at least for me) were all pretty similar to each other. Questions such as "Name a time when you helped the customer etc" and then that question will be followed up with "how satisfied was the customer". And then other questions which seem to be normal amongst most interviews.

And seeing how it'll most likely be seasonal, as long as you dress appropriately and don't fuck up too bad, you should be able to get the job pretty easily.

I'm probably the only person in this thread that will get this reference, unless some of the wrestling thread guys skim over it....

i worked for target for 3 years. you will be asked about team work, how you have dealt with situations. Why you feel you will be a good fit. Those are the basic questions we asked during interviews.

I feel your pain. That happened to me a few times.

Go to www.thebreakroom.org and browse through their forums, you'll thank me later. Also, being hired this time of year is always seasonal at Target and they will tell you as soon as you sit down that you will likely not have a job in January. Most of the time (>80%) this is true, and you will likely be laid off in January. When I was at Target we would usually bring on about 15-20 people and usually kept no more than 3-4.

Yeah, that's not that uncommon actually. If one of the ETLs or STLs doesn't like you they can place a non-rehireable flag on your file with little to no repercussions and your essentially done for good with Target. Now, that doesn't mean you can't get hired but it anytime you would apply it would show up on your application paperwork and the majority of stores won't touch someone with a non-rehireable status.

What is odd though is that they told you of your non-rehireable status, that's not something they're supposed to do under any circumstances.

Franchise hooked me up with a TMX Elmo one christmas. Good guy.

They will ask you behavioral based questions. Just give them a specific situations and what you did and you will be fine. My interview was a couple of weeks ago.
