Journalist helps reunite former Santana band member, now homeless, with Carlos Santana

CAGiversary!
Bay Area journalist Stanley Roberts produces a news piece I enjoy called People Behaving Badly, where he runs around the Bay Area looking for people breaking the law. While producing a segment on illegal dumping, Roberts found a homeless man who claimed to belong to the original Santana band.

Carlos Santana actually saw this piece and went out looking for him. When he couldn't find him, Santana contacted Stanley Roberts, and after 20 minutes of searching, found the former band member. In the video below, the two are reunited.

His name is Marcus Malone and he played drums for the band when it was starting out. Even if you don't care about Santana, I thought it was a neat story. I remember watching the original piece a week ago and wondering if the guy was for real. Naturally, I assumed he was spinning some tall tales. So I check the People Behaving Badly feed today, and it turns out the guy was legit.

That's a pretty neat story. It's pretty amazing that a guy who was part of a band like that would be living on the streets. I wonder if he even gets any royalties from the work he did or if he was even part of the initial recordings of the band's records.

And Santana was like "He still owes me $9 from back in the 80's. Thanks for finding him for me."

As a huge fan of Santana and feel good stories, this makes me extremely happy... thanks for sharing. "Abraxas" is still one of my favorite albums to date despite the fact that it is over 40 years old!

On ABC7 Chicago, they claimed that Santana was going to set him up with an apartment and "whatever else he needed". He also wants to get the original band back together and make more music.
