Joystiq: BS Announcement - IBM shipping processors

Well, now I'm 99% sure it's about the Wii from the quote at Kotaku:

"While I'm sure you will all find it endlessly fascinating, in the end it won't really get you any closer to the news most people want to know."

From the boards, it seems that people want to know the price/release date of the Wii. Thus, it's probably some sort of new feature of the system--perhaps more details on the Virtual Console?

My final guess is that we're shown what all comes with the Wii--controllers, any possible games, etc.
 
I just saw this on Joystiq and was gonna post about it. Surprise! It's already been up for a while. But anyways, I'm very excited, and I assume it's good Wii news. Wii love news!

Whatever it is, it will be reported on another site first and won't be up on joystiq's sitye till they copy and paste it.

FFXIII maybe, MGS4 might be a hard port but has a possibility if ps3 truly tanks

I really can't see either of those happening. Kojima went on record as saying that he didn't like doing ports and I don't think there's ever been a multiplatform FF game when a new entry first comes out... save for XI, but that's an exception.

When it's called major next gen console news, it's probably something that has to do with the actual console hardware.

Either that or it's Wii pricing/release news, or the PS3 does indeed have a built-in grilling system.

The thing is Kojima may not like ports but at the end of the day he's not the one paying the bills, Konami is.

That MGS 2 Substance port to the Xbox wasn't so great, and MGS 1 got remade by a totally different company with Kojima's blessing. I'm doubting that it's MGS 4 as well.
 
I say that is going to be that the PS3 is going to have only like 100,000 consoles on release day and all it will not be a world wide release.

I'm really hoping for MGS4 on the 360. :pray:
 
I hope it's Wii related because the wait until next week's announcement is killing me. I'm dying to know if Nintendo will shoot themselves in the foot, like they've done for a few generations now, or if they will put all the pieces in the right places (i.e. good price, great diversity of games, and a fully functional control mechanism that is more than "97%" accurate).

Thanks to the crazed reaction this tease is getting everywhere, they could announce that the Wii is free, comes with 12 games, will be backwards compatible with everything ever and come with a redeemable voucher for Howard Phillips to come to my house and wipe my ass with his bow tie and it would STILL be disappointing.

Square would take FF back to Nintendo before taking it to M$.

MGS 2 Substance had major slowdown issues when brought to another system (Even with the Xbox being more powerful than the PS2) and 3 was never even considered for a port. Hell, even MGS 1 was missing some graphical effects when it was ported to the PC. When a game is as optimized for a specific system as the MGS games tend to be, ports will almost always end up being inferior.

Because the DMC4 countdown ends tonight at 12 eastern. And I believe on the site it will show a 360 logo.
 
The poster of the Joystiq article gave these hints:

•He said it has nothing to do with DMC
•He said it has nothing to do with FF or Square
•Just before comment 400, he said only a "handful" have guessed it.

He also said it had nothing to do with Sega.
 
My money is on that it has something to with the 360. Nintendo has it's worldwide press conference on the 15th and Sony pretty much has nothing left in their hand to show.

Maybe a new 360 exclusive or previously announced game has a new (winter 06) release date. Possibly a new bundle or even free xbox live.

I agree, I think it'll be 360 related. Perhaps something new and awesome for the Xbox Live Arcade?

The DMC countdown thing also ending is a coincidence. If nothing else, it's all but confirmed this is console news as opposed to something about a specific title.

Bingo, unless its 1st party I always take "exclusive" with a grain of salt.

Hell, even when its 1st party, exclusive doesn't always mean exclusive... Look at Halo 2, Microsoft swore up and down that it would only ever be available for the XBox then they announced it would be one of the first Vista titles.

Major announcement.. interesting. Something's coming to the 360. They wouldn't announce a Wii game, Nintendo seems to be saving those announcements, and no one gives a shit about PS3 here.. hahah, I bet it's that the PS3 is delayed in the US. That would be awesome.

My bet's on Guitar Hero 2 for the 360. God how I would love that. Or maybe .. hmm. What company is on good terms with Joystiq and would let them break news first?

It better not be something as fucking stupid as a Joystiq faceplate or something.
