Jungle Beat accidental clapping

I just played DK Jungle Beat for a couple hours and found it tremendously fun, but I do have one question/complaint. Has anyone else noticed that you sometimes accidentally have DK clap when you simply hit one of the bongos? I assumed this might be because maybe hitting a bongo makes a clapping like noise at times, or maybe I was also hitting the bongos to the side or something. I saw this problem addressed earlier about kiosk demos and how the public is way too hard on the bongos, but this is a brand new copy I just got. Has anyone else had this problem, or is there presumably something wrong with my controller?

You may already be aware of this, but hitting the bongo on the side also counts as a clap, so be sure you're not doing this.

If it is just noise that's setting it off (which happens all the time to my wife b/c she squeals and screams while playing), you can change the sensitivity from the main menu.

Yeah, try the mic sensitivity. Not sure if that'll fix it, but it does get to be an annoyance when you're on those birds since clapping will cause you to let go. So I just use the tips of my fingers on the very center of the bongo on those parts of the game.

So I take it there's nothing wrong with my controller since you've had that problem too. What it probably was was just my wrists tapping where the bottom of the face meets the side. So far I've had the mic on auto, but I could play around with the sensitivities.

Yeah, right at the very edge of the drum surface if you tap it the least bit it'll register as a clap. Just have to get used to only hitting the middle part of the drums. It only presents a problem with the bird levels though.

anyone notice it says something like hitting the grey bands of the bongos will be a clap, in the instructions booklet. guess a lot of ppl are doing it since donkey konga, that they actually put it in the book

Yeah, that grey band thing was confusing. I don't think it has anything to do with the actual bands, but just any part of the sides.

I do wish there was a way of turning off the sides, so only the mic would clap. It is a little annyoing that if I want to use my whole hand the part of my hand opposite my knuckle sometimes hits the sensor. That being said I've had much less difficulty lately since I realized that's what I was doing wrong. As long as I just use the pads of my fingers in the middle I accidentally clap little to never anymore. I would reccommend this to everyone because not only will you not accidentally clap, but your arms won't get even the least bit tired. And the brief parts where you have to mash while beating stuff it doesn't matter if you hit the sides too, so you can go crazy. And despite what the instructions say about using the bongos on a stable hard surface, I've found my lap to get the job done just fine.

See, I always thought that was part of the clap sensor. It seemed really loose and felt like some sort of button. Works great for the Gorilla mode in Donkey Konga.
