just a passing idea: CAG Secret Santa
I would add something generic to your list, in case of something like that.
Like someone could put something like "side-scrolling shooter other than R-Type" or something along those lines. Maybe game-related action figures or something!

Also a suggestion, make it mandatory for people to include the systems they own. That way, if you're paired with someone who has things listed that you can't get a hold of, you can send something out.

Make sure, whomever runs the whole thing, that the Secret Santa for a particular person gets the user's CAG ID-- a great idea would be to research that person's posts to get a better idea of what he/she likes.
This post was me. Fiance left himself logged in. :bomb:

In any case, the potential problem with the spending limit right now, is that game prices fluctuate. Not only over time, but from store-to-store. One person's Advance Wars DS might have cost them $20, while another guy could have bought it for $7. Though I think as long as people don't take it too seriously (esp on the recieving end), we'll be alright. I think aside from deadbeats, the worst thing that could happen with this is people singling others out for being 'too cheap'. As long as people keep in mind that it's just a nice gesture, it'll be cool.
If you have a Itrader less then 10 your out. No deadbeats to the community ;)
What does that have to do with anything? I am 3 short away from 10, so I'd be a deadbeat to someone?? I just don't trade/buy/sell on here very often. That can't and won't be a good reason to not let certain people join in.

ok, cool ^_^

Are we intending to be paired up as in person "a" gives to "b" and person "b" gives to "a"? Or is this going to be more like person "a" gives to person "b" and person "b" gives to person "d" while "c" gives to "a"?

I thought the idea of having a list to be able to see so sounded good, so that if you had something that you could fulfill you message the person running it and they take that person off the list, that way you know you're getting something you want.

I think it would be best to not be paired up. If it's paired up it's basically just a trade isn't it? :p

This way we can have a kind of organized group trade where people can get what they want without having to negotiate with a person and have something that they want in return.

I get what you guys are saying about the different prices. How about we say what ever item you ask for has to have a used price at eb/gs or a MSRP of $25 or less.

That takes care of the price issuing IMO.

So if you paid $10 for is but used its $17.99 then thats how much your paying for it. The $25 limit is a maxium limit to spend. You can go anywhere within that limit. But if you ask for GTA liberty city stories then send someone major league 2001

So any item you stick on your wish list shouldn't retail for more then $25 It doesn't matter what the other person paid for it.

that would suck to send a 25 buck game but get PRIMAL in return LOL
http://www.secretsanta.com/action/page?pageId=16

Lets get the ball rolling because we need to have time to ship stuff and get it there on time with the US noob postal service.
I say we open up the list Tomorrow or monday and have it closed by Dec 1 (gives people 4 days to join)

Nov 25 to Dec 1 sign up
Dec 2 and 3 match the people up
Dec 3 or 4 send out the list

This would give people time to buy the items

Dec 11 deadline to send out the presents

that would give almost 2 weeks for item to come if we allow any shipping

if we stick to PURE first class (takes max i think 5 day across country)

Nov 25 - Dec 1 sign up
Dec 2-3 match up people
Dec 4 send out list
DEC 15 -17 deadline to send out items

i think not sure on those dates

True, so you only send someone something off of their wishlist. THat will be rule 8

Alright I'm going to start this up in the trading forum. I'll have a link in my sig. I hope everything goes alright. Which I feel it will. I'll have a deadline, and if it doesn't have a lot of support then I'll just cancel this whole secret santa. To be honest its not worth my time if only 15 people join. But I think it will go well.

Great to hear you're using this little idea of mine Citizen B, I'll be sure to join in the festivities as well. The only thing I think you should ad, (which I should have mentioned in the first post, is that you should allow used and older games to be sent as well, in the chance that some people may want to get their hands on a genesis game or two, or manuals and/or cases/boxes to games they do have. Plus that way those who want to join in but may lack the funds this holiday season can still actively participate.

I just think its a great idea to build the community. Instead of the forum standard where the old salts hang together, and the noobs have to earn respect. I think this will help everyone for the better in general all credit goes to you. I'm just spearheading it.

I get what your saying about sending old games, and I will be sure to include that.
