Just Got a DS Lite, Question?

Before I open this thing, someone was telling me that nintendo has a new DS coming out pretty soon, obviously not before the holiday but i was wondering if i should wait or just enjoy this one, i hate getting burned by new technology

anybody know if this is true???

If the redesign is true, you'll be losing GBA compatability, getting bigger screens :)-s) and losing some weight.

If they aren't true, we don't know anything about a redesign. I was happy with my Phat for over a year beyond the launch of the Lite, I'm sure any future redesign will be less significant than that transition.

Even if they have a redesign of any sort...
the DS is the best selling gaming hardware in the world.

this ain't no ipod, mmkay?

I'd open it and enjoy it. The redesign is just speculation and even if it does happen within the next 6-12 months it's still going to play the same DS games so you won't be missing out on new titles.

thanks for the responses, i would like some bigger screens but if things are just at speculation right now then i guess i'm good just using this one, now anybody have some opinions on games,

what should i get?

I suspect if there's any redesign we won't see it for at least a year. This model is making far too much money for them to spend more money to manufacture a new/different version.

There are lots of opinions on games. It depends on what kind of games you like. Just browse around this forum.

I'm more than happy with my DS Phat.

I'd get Brain Age 2, New Super Mario Brothers, Puzzle Quest, Elite Beat Agents, and Super Princess Peach

Check gamerankings.com for the top rated games.

My favorite DS games: New Super Mario Bros, Zelda Phantom Hourglass, Kirby Canvas Curse (great use of the stylus)

Then there are at least 20-30 others I've played through and really enjoyed.

if theres one game to buy its advance wars dual strike. its an underated game, and long to. beleive it or not, I clocked 160 hours out of it.

EDIT: I checked, and I played 144 hours, 36 minutes

if they do anything they need to add an analog stick of some kind so you can play games like mario 64 better. or make some kind of mini controller you can plug into the gba slot.

This thread has made me re-visit the hard mode. levels above 25 are truly hardcore. after all those hours and I still cant beat the frikkin' 4 corner rocket silo mission.

That's why I shouldn't have sold it... now I'll have to replay the whole thing since the save is on the cart. Gah. But I doubt I'll want to pay $30 for it on eBay even though I probably sold it for about $30.

surprisingly enough the ds has alot fo long time consuming games on it. ive put in tons of hours on pokemon diamond and only have 3 badges and 40 some odd pokemon to show for it. and advance wars ds is awesome so much better than the gba game and it works well with the ds dual screens. im stuck on a mission now tryign to bet the computer when they can create weapons and vehicles liek you can only they star out wit this evil ass tank thingy.

Animal Crossing DS (wild world i think)
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - 4 swords aventures for the gba
final fantasy III
Both Castlevania's on the DS (dawn of sorrow, portrait of ruin)
the new super mario bros.

they all make me happy and going further, final fantasy IV and final fantasy VI on the GBA

For you folks suggesting Advance Wars (no, I don't have it yet 8-[ ):

If I was buy Advance Wars for the DS used, is there a way to reset the data, so I don't have to play under someone else's saved game? Like the whole Up+Select+B thing with Pokemon Diamond/Pearl?

It's probably in the instructions, but since I'm too lazy to dig it out, here's what is on gamefaqs:

16) How do you delete game data?
In the event that you have procured AWDS with save data still on it and you would like to start anew, press and hold L (left shoulder button), Right (right on the directional pad), and Select (...) when touching the AWDS icon on the DS startup menu. If you do not have this option, that is, the game starts immediately after you press Power, you can simply hold those buttons when turning the DS on.

If you are wondering why this occurs, it is because the DS is set to Auto mode. To change this, remove the DS game card and/or GBA game and turn the DS on, then select the miniature DS icon at the bottom in the middle of the screen. Next, choose the first option, the one with a wrench on it, then select the top option.

open it, the ds lite is still printing money as we speak.

the talks of a redesign are rumors, and even if it does come, nintendo has no reason to release it soon.
