Just got a GBA SP; recommend any good rpg's?

CAGiversary!
Hey guys. Just bought a GBA SP (with Zelda: LTTP) and i'm looking for some recommendations on RPG's for the system. Not really looking for old school rpgs though (like Lunar or Shining Force I guess)

What are your favorites?

Golden Sun is flat out amazing. Have not finshed 2, but the first is one of my favorite GBA games.

Also FFTA is another favorite of mine.

Legend of Zelda
Mario and Luigi: SSS
Golden Sun Series
Advance War Series(more strategy though)
Fire Emblem(also more strategy)

Golden Sun
Golden Sun: The Lost Age
Mario and Luigi: Superstar Sage
Fire Emblem
Breath of Fire
Breath of Fire II
Final Fantasy: Tactics Advanced
DBZ: Legacy of Goku II
DBZ: Buu's Fury
Megaman: Battle Network series
Any of the Pokemon games
Shining Soul II

Golden Sun 1 & 2 are really really good. I'd start out with those if you want to stay away from old school, although Shining Force, Breath of Fire 1 & 2, and Sword of Mana are excellent. And if you enjoy Tacticals at all you must get Fire Emblem.

Fire Emblem. I played the game from lyn's story, till I finish hector's, and played it agin in hard mode, and started over again. I must've logged more hours on this game than any others in my life. Btw, does anyone know when another fire emblem is coming to U.S???

Ogre Tactics, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Breath of Fire(either one), and i would stay away from fire emblem, most people liked it but i thought it was stupid. Good Luck Man!!!

My "Avoid these" list:
AVOID SWORD OF MANA
AVOID LUNAR

My "Buy these" list:

1) Fire Emblem
2) Mario & Luigi SS
3) Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis
4) Golden Sun

I'd put FFTA on here, especially since I'd put 40+ hours into it, but the lack of story left a bitter taste in my mouth. It had such great gameplay, but with no impetus provided by characters or occurrences that you give a damn about the drive to keep coming back to it just wasn't there.

Everyone has mentioned the best RPGs that aren't "old school" although I can't stress the Golden Sun games enough. Let's see about some others...uh there's Phantasy Star Collection, but that's old school. Dokapon and Lufia were decent but not great RPGs. Car Battler Joe is a unique and interesting RPG-like game you should try if you can find a copy. The Shining Soul games are decent enough action RPGs too as are the Lord of the Rings games, oh and BG Dark Alliance too.

It's kinda funny. the only two RPG's I've bought and beat for Gameboy SP so far are on you "Avoid" list. I feel dumb...........

I bought Fire Emblem when it first came out because it reminded me of Warson, dispite getting mixed reviews from some places. But i think it quickly established itself as one of the best on the GBA Library.

Whatever......

I LOVED Sword of Mana. Sure the story's got nothin on Secret of Mana but its still a fun game. Thousands time better than the original game its based off of (Final Fantasy Adventure for GB).

Since everybody already listed the good ones, let me go out on a limb and say that though I hate DragonBall Z, I really liked the second Legacy of Goku and Buu's Fury (which my friend's little brother own and lent to me). Both are easy (especially Buu) but they were fun little play throughs that'll tide me over until Zelda. Just figured I'd mention them since most people would never even touch them because they're based around a shitty franchise.

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow is a hands down good reccomendation. It has rpg elements..and its insanely fun. Plus+ awesome visuals and sound.

Other stuff..eh-Golden Sun Series, and FFT.

Well Im a DBZ and LOG is pretty weak imo.
However without taking my DBZ love into account, i think that DBZ LOG 2 is a wonderful game. Ive been interested in Buu's Fury but with the fast price drop of DBZ games, I decided to just wait for that and SuperSonic Warriors.

I found LOG2 to be fun, but I thought they tried to do too much in Buu's Fury, and ultimately made it worse. None of the DBZ games are really worth buying for more than $5 imo, except maybe Supersonic Warriors, just b/c it's fun flying around in it.
