Just Got a PS3 Slim At TRU...

So I just bought a PS3 Slim after having to get rid of my used broken original PS3 due to laser problems. I bought it at ToyRUs and the salesguy there was telling me as he was ringing me up that once the seal on the PS3 console box is ripped i cannot return it. My question is, What happens if some kind of problem arises with the new ps3 slim and i need to exchange it for a different one. Will ToyRUs exchange it out for a new one? Is this how all retail stores are with game consoles? I havent bought a game console in years at a retail store. Just wondering if anyone knew the policies about PS3 consoles purchased within the 1 year warranty that would have problems and would you be able to exchange it out at the store you bought it from. Thanks.

If you bought an instore extended warranty, then you just bring whatever is broken into the store with your receipt/warranty and they give you a replacement. If you didn't buy an extended warranty through TRU, then you would deal with Sony for your year of warranty.
