Just Got a Wii and need to find some deals

I am curious as to why you want a 2GB SD card if you just got your Wii. Unless you are planning on downloading a massive amount of games from the Virtual Console, or putting music on the photo channel (which I see no reason to use in the first place), then you should be fine with the internal memory for now.

Why not? Should I buy a 512 or 256 first then? That doesn't make sense. If you really must know why I am buying something, it is so that I can use the 2GB on my Canon 1D Mk III since all my cards are > than 2GB and the Wii only support 2GB. That way it is sort of dedicated to the Wii and the Picture Channel. Who knows? I may be downloading a bunch of content...

Thanks guys for the deal. I'm looking for a dual charger for the remotes. Thanks.

I would have told you the same thing. There's very little you can do with an SD card and your Wii. Of course, if you can get one for $3, by all means, go ahead and get it. But I regret the $15 I spent at launch.

But there are more uses for a SD card than just a Wii. I, I have the Alpine Blackbird that uses it, my DSLR, etc...I think it would be $3 or even $15 well spent.

True, but there was no indication in the OP that he wanted to use it for anything besides the Wii. That is why I suggested not to get one.

and you were right to not sugest a SD card! i had a 1gb sitting in my wii for nearly a year, finally took it out when i got a new digital camera, and i dont think it will be ever returning to the wii!

I am the OP! LOL Once again, I appreciate you guys looking out and all but I really wanted to know where I can get the best deal, not really the technical advice, since this would be the wrong forum for that anyway. I may be new here at CAG, but I have been pretty up to date when it comes to my electronics. I would have asked for the deal if I had not already made up my mind as to why I need one. To reinerate, I can use the 2GB SD card on several other item in case this doesn't pan out with my Wii. Once thing I am certain, I will not buy a white SD card for the heck of it matching the console...well unless it is for $3.

He was right to not suggest one and you are right to agree because you guys both do not have other uses for the SD card. However, I do. Even before the Wii, I have many different uses for the SD. You can also use the SD card on the Playstation 3...So as I told Quintessence, I was not really asking for why or should I get one, I just wanted to know if you guys know of a fat deal to get one. I do, don't get me wrong appreciate yours and his advice and all, but I'm a big boy and can take care of making up my own purchasing decision.

I bought a 1gb when I got my Wii and after 3-4 months of not using it, I use it for my cameras. I don't see the need for one dedicated for it. I bought 2 Wii stands on clearance at Target which comes with the stands, Wii gloves and a 512mb card (for 6.98) and have also used those for the cameras. What exactly is the purpose of the SD card on the Wii?

When the internal memory gets used up it will use it for your downloads, channels. You can also import pics and music to the Wii.
