Kameo on both an HDTV and SDTV (should end this stupid debate)

HD IS noticably better.

The objects and colors are sharper and more defined thanks to the increased resolution.
*sigh* wish i didnt pass up on that 53" HDTV for $500...

Oh well, guess ill just live with SDTV for a bit longer.
Wow you are nuts!

Maybe its just me, but if you were to have an Xbox with composite cables and an HDTV, the 360 doesn't seem to look that much different for me graphically. I guess it comes under that it can do more stuff on screen at once or something like that (not techically savy as it probably shows).

Maybe someone will or already has done a comparison of high end Xbox game with HDTV and component cables to the Xbox 360. I'd be very interested in anyone has seen such a thing.

It's really easy for me to see the difference between an Xbox game with component cables hooked up to an HDTV and a X360 game with the same setup. Maybe on some of the early games, the visual upgrades won't be as easy to see for some people, but I already see a large jump in graphical quality.

Have a look at the other thread comparing 480p to 720p... the difference is striking.

Who what when where why!?

I'll take two.

It's not even close. HD is way better. I don't understand why people are so reluctant to drop some money on an HDTV anyway but dropping $500 for an Xbox360 that really isn't offering anything great right now is no big deal. HDTV makes everything better - not just video games. Every network show is greatly enhanced and if you are a fan of Lost or other dramas it's like watching a 60 minute movie every week. Upgrading your regular TV to a 16x9 HDTV is easily as big of a leap as going from black and white to color was. You may think you aren't really missing anything but trust me, you are.

Not only is ignorance bliss, its cheap!

I agree! :)

HD does look better...but in those screen shots the TV's aren't even set up the same. Increasing the resolution will not make colors more vibrant. Just go put on half life or some other FPS and change the resolution.

You're kinda right. If you have a monitor and go from 640x480 to 1200x768 you're not going to see a change in color. However, if you go from a standard TV to a HDTV, you will see a marked improvement because you're condensing the pixels, thus putting more color in one place. Granted, you could still have shitty color on HD, but you probably wont.

I like people who make a really big deal about the differences in resolution... yes, there is a difference between SDTV and HDTV, but it really depends on what you're willing to spend. I'd be happy with an SDTV for now, and can upgrade to HDTV later.

Yep, I have a couple devices that are hooked up through both component and composite cables and you can definitely see changes in brightness levels when I change between the different input types.

I played Kameo last night at Best Buy. It was hooked up to a nice LCD TV. I'm assuming it was in HD. I have to say I was impressed it looked amazing. Once I started playing the game a little bit though that kind of wore off for me. Not that it still didn't look good but it no longer mattered. If you are stopping a game to look at how detailed the grass is in the middle of gameplay you should sell your consoles. I guess I'm just too old school for my own good as I could care less about HD.

Yep, exactly. I'm REALLY cheap, so I was hesitant to drop $900 on a good LCD HDTV. But now I think its one of the smartest purchases I've ever made. Nothing compares to watching football in HD.

diff strokes for diff folks.

I'm wondering if they just FED 480p into the same set cuz those TVs look the same.

the link doesnt work. Source anywhere else?

I was just playing... far cry on the xbox.. and comparing... 480i & 480P...

you can really tell the difference...

even at 480P game will look pretty... and 720p will blow SD outta water...

I mean who are you kidding... everybody knows if HD TV are cheaper.. everybody would have 1...

Still people without 1, you can always get S-video... and that will still be better that standard AV...

I can't get the images to load. When I click on the link I get a page that has a small jpg in the top left corner stating, "Photobucket.com Bandwidth Exceeded". Now I've tried launching this on my home and school computers and get the same results. Does anyone else have this problem? Also is this due to the server taking alot of hits and sucking up their bandwidth.

Bandwidth exceeded, anyone have these that can throw them up on a place like imageshack.us?

does anyone have any idea how much better s-video is? is it worth the $30 for the cable?

Yeah well, not everyone has $900 to spend on a TV, when most Americans don't need the extra added detail. I've watched TV just fine for 21 years on regular televisions, no way in hell I spend almost a thousand bucks on something that will just show more detail. I don't need to spend $900 to see the lines in Conan O'Briens face, the sweat on Brett Favre's ass, or any of that other crap.

I'm sorry you're poor. Sucks to be you.

What is funny though is how everyone has $500+ to spend on an Xbox 360. You sound like my grandfather who refuses to buy a CD player because records have been working just fine for the last 60 years of his life. Ignorance is bliss I guess.

Why get a computer to write email when you could send a letter? Why call someone when you could talk to them face to face? Why pay $50 for a video game when you could just go outside? Why post on a videogame site when you could totally forsake power and start quilting blankets.

Not all our purchases are of total neccesity.

Your grandfather is right about the cd player. Tell him to get an MP3 player. ;)

Straight from GameSpot:

"Incidentally, while Madden NFL 06 obviously looks its best on an HD setup, it also looks quite good on a normal TV. Some of the details are blurred-over, and you won't get the crispness you'd get from HD, but the upgraded graphics still look very much upgraded on a standard TV. "

So much for only HDTV owners getting that "Next Gen" feel of the graphics.......

If only you knew...

can we close these stupid arguments? If you don't want to play it on a HDTV don't you don't need to frickin justify to everyone else that you are making yourself just as satisfied. Makes you look like you're trying to compensate...... jeez...

Picture on a SDTV

Picture on HDTV

Any questions?
Your grandfather is right about the cd player. Tell him to get an MP3 player. ;)
haha.. yeah you are right but I'm not going there - just try to picture that conversation... at least I can compare a CD to a mini-record with no hissing and popping background noise...

I saw the 360 playing on a regular old ass 27" TV last night, and it looked great. Obviously it wasn't HD quality, but it definitely looked next-gen... or at least as next-gen as the 360 does anyway. I was sceptical, but now I now it's all good. The game playing was Kameo, by the way.

For all of you who are unfortunate and don't own a HDTV don't worry. I've played the demo of Kameo on a HDTV and have started playing the full version on my new 360. Granted standard TV does not do any of the 360 titles justice, but the graphics are still beautiful. Like I've posted earlier I was unable to see the side-by-side comparison photos, but take it from me I've seen both and tell you don't let this stray you away from purchasing a 360. Everyone is entitled to their opinion of the graphics, but I honestly can say that they are still top notch on our relic televisions.

listent for all naysayers please stop nay saying , if you cannot afford an HDTV then dont rank on it and start talking about justifying prices on stuff because for all we know you could have waisted money on something that someone else wouldnt have spend the same amount on.

Watching an HD game or tv program is like putting on a new pair of glasses.
Me no likey the naysayers :shame:.

There is a noticable difference in smootheness, but is it worth money? I know many of you have had an HDTV for a while, but for all the people who got it just for the 360 you all wasted your money. IMO

personally, i couldn't justify buying a tv to play video games that is less than 55 inches hence the reluctance to drop the big hd dollars
