I don't know if this means much with EB changing the price. I remember when I reserved my DS with EB and they had prices of all the games as $39.99. These prices remained in their system almost up to a couple of weeks before the DS released and then they went down to their $29.99 real price.
EBGames may just be using the $49.99 price tag as a price holder until MS confirms this price. I mean, its very possible that MS published games will cost $49.99, and if so, that's very cool. But, if MS is gonna charge $50 for a wireless controller, I'm guessing their game prices are gonna be a little higher. There's a little something wrong going to buy an extra first party made controller and have it cost as much as a game.
You realize that you're doubting the exact thing EB has done before, according to your story. The price was high ($59.99) much like the DS's $39.99 games.. then they were lowered to $49.99 (to the DS's $29.99).
The controller is so much because it's wireless and it's Microsoft. Any other third party wireless would be $40.. but because the Microsoft logo's on it, extra $10.
