Umm...... you mean all those black people in sri lanka, indonesia etc.?
Haha leave it to slidecage to bring even more retardation into this thread.

ANYONE who thinks kanye west did this for his CD is friggen RETARDED, kanye west supports things that are not widely cared about, cause its his opinion that bush doesnt like blacks (which I have no idea if its true or not) but what about his song diamonds are forever? It promotes peopel to stop supporting diamonds because africans are taken advantage of to get those diamonds.

I really dont know whats going on with sladecage, I mad one OG loc topic and a few polls and I was almost banned, but this dumb fuck annoys and brings topics to a record breaking low retardation levels and yet he is still here. I would ignore him but maybe he will contribute a deal or something insightful someday.

If he doesn't buy conflict diamonds (diamonds mined by illegitimate groups to fund wars, often using child, slave and semi-slave labor) then he's not a hypocrite. You can buy diamonds that have gone through checks to hopefully insure they do not come from the above conditions. The u.n. and the diamond industry has tried to crack down on conflict diamonds.

By legally stamping them with numbers and assuring everyone they only come from country were complete slave labor is acceptable.

Or he could simply buy synthetic stones, a much cheaper and more humanitarian gesture.

I don't think Kanye cares about black people, if he did, he wouldn't have squandered his important time for the Katrina telethon on his own selfish desire to criticize Bush. The entire purpose of a telethon is to unify people not divide them. Whether or not you agree with Kanye is irrelevant his comments were out of place and caused more harm than good to the black community of New Orleans.

I liked Kanye's first album, but I disagree completely with his timing on this statement.

he doesnt care about anything but his money and cd sales. i cant believe people are actually believing all his political bullshit.

So he couldn't possibly be both concerned and pissed off? I mean unlike the other celebs on the telethon at least he looked like he cared about something.
But do you agree with the forum on which he used to say it?
Kanye seems to be an emotional dude and it seems like he just blurted out what he was thinking at that particular moment. I can relate to the fact that when I live in nicer neighborhoods the police show up a lot quicker when they are called.
yea right all he did was he wanted people to notice him simple as that. If hes so freaking worried then why isnt he down there in a boat picking people up instead of being on tv

also to PROVE the point probally 90% didnt even know who the hell he was but now since HE said this people are looking it up saying I wonder who this is. It was nothing more then to get more people to know who he is and to make an ass out of himself
Kanye West was on the friggin cover of TIME magazine. He is a Grammy winner and has been every where the last 2 years. Trust me people in the mainstream know who he is. Def Jam / Roc a Fella (his record label) have already donated over a million to relief efforts. Get your facts straight prior to making a point. How the hell is a civilian boat going to assist in the relief effort??? That is just DUMB.
That is at least a resonable line of thinking, whether people agree with it or not.

You, know I would kill to hear what those DJs in New York, who made fun of the tsunami victims (in racist ways) , would say. I am sure they would side with Kanye despite their own rcist feelings.
Producers were fired for the ignorant crap that Hot 97' did. They are watching what they say in regards to this and have been since the Tsunami stunt. They like other large stations take that shock crap too far. Anything for ratings.

That's BS. The man's pissed and spoke his mind. I know all the nutless politically correct pansy asses don't like people speaking up, but I'm all for it. That's what the US is based upon.

Anyway, I'm sure the gutless networks will compound the problem by cutting/editing him out for the west coast broadcast (if they didn't get it live, which I'm not sure about).

Soon as I clicked this thread and started reading it, I hear in the background on CNN. Wow. Mike Myers was shocked. Kanye seems to just ramble, and almost cry. But Kanye is wrong.

George Bush hates Poor People.

exactly what i said a couple pages before. i doubt kanye was the first person to say bush hates black people. normal people have said it, but it has no credibility because it doesnt come from the mouth of a celebrity . but since it comes from such a big celebrity like kanye west  people are going to believe it. its all for cd sales.

Did David Banner say anything, he was supposed to be there too? How come we haven't heard anything from any other N.O. rappers like the Cash Money Roster, Juvi, Master fucking P ? Kanye should have said:" George Bush is Golddigger, cuz he aint helping Broke Ni---. " Maybe that's more true.

fuck the people that think only black people are doing this and fuck Kanye West. Right, Bush doesn't care about black people. His assistant for national security related things is black. He's getting support from other nations. He's got people flying in helping now. Right, he doesn't care about black people. For god's sake, nation's are putting debt and grudges aside to lend aid.

The fact of the matter is that it's survival of the fittest now. While some people are looting stores for the hell of it, yes, the majority is getting necessities. The reason "black people are looting" is because it's a predominately black area. I saw quite a few white people in the Wal-Mart looting video. If this happened in Hollywood, you'd see Carmen Electra running through that Wal-Mart searching for things right along Bumbo Magumbo in his hobo outfit. I'm not sure how anyone can back Kanye's statement, it's absolutely absurd.

This needs to head on to the vs. forum.
I'd like to know how the Cash money fam feels about this whole thing.
Good sarcasm. But Hey, It's their home. They may say something smart (ha!!!), or something so dumb it's fucking brilliant. Sometimes it better to say something stupid and get attention and help than say nothing and get fucked over.
I tire of the whole "we're black and the white man is holding us down" crap. I'm not saying the relief process is going great. It is horrible actually, but to believe it's because of a race is retarded. I hate to think that we have evolved past color, but this is America. Like it or not, racism does exist. Don't kidd yourself. If you look at the majority of people in New Orleans, they are lower class working (most are) families. I personally think that if was southern California were hit that hard, relief would have been instantaneous.

Too little to late. A president doesn't have to forseen the future but he needs to know who to act when the time comes. Shit has hit the fan and the buck stops with him.

Agreed. This definitely falls into politics & controversy. Whatever our opinions are on these trying times, I think that we should all just be happy that we are still here and alive. There are so many people out there who are dead or missing, and may never see their families again. There are people who have lost everything... pets, houses, belongings, everything. And most likely they will never be able to get those things back. It takes a long time to pick up the pieces when you lose everything.

There's been a large amount of kids and families that are trying to start over down here where I live. Thankfully, it's been like a miracle down here. All the children are back in school, and there is plenty of food and things for them at the shelters where they are living for the time being. My family delivered some medicine to some of the refugees on Thursday, and it was amazing to see such faith in the human spirit. I could tell that these people weren't going to give up and they were doing their best to rebuild their lives. That's a miracle.

Sorry to skew away from the topic. I just thought I'd share my thoughts.

This has nothing to about race. Kanye West statement is, as true as saying "god" hates black people.

I have been in floods I have seen the damage and had many friends and family loose their homes in 1993. I have seen my city loose drinking water when I was 13 years old. I had to walk a few miles to get clean water and just enough for a few days. Eating stale crackers on cold can food that was in our cupbords We pissed and shit outside and didn't bathe.

Des Moines, Iowa, located in the center of the flood region, became the largest U.S. city to lose its water supply when its water treatment plant flooded. More than 250,000 people lost drinking water for 19 hot summer days. Water pipes, contaminated by floodwaters carrying sewage and agricultural chemicals, had to be flushed out before the municipal water supply was reconnected.

Ok now you are waiting for my point it is simple. Did we blame the government, the police, or did we turn to violence and looting. No we helped our damn selves and relied on no one because not much outside help came. Our neighboring towns were the ones sending us the water, bottling them in 40 oz Budweiser bottles. I know this is on a much smaller degree then NO but we did not turn violence and yes I lived in a poor neighborhood. Don't rely on anyone but your self.

If anything I would say that New Orleans and LA does not like New Orleans.

OMGZ! BUSH CREATED A HARRIKANE!!

Please. They were told a hurricane was coming. If they were too stupid to leave, I won't lose sleep over them.

How much money does it take to hop a bus? Not much I'm sure. I guess if they can't afford busfare that's Bush's fault too.

How fucking dumb can you be? Yeah whenever I travel all it takes is a bus ticket. I never have to pay for food or a place to sleep at night, dumb ass.

It's Bush's fault because he's in charge of FEMA, he's in charge of dealing with the funding for situations like this. What has he done? Shift funding and training towards combating terrorism and left real concerns high and dry. Damn right it's Bush's fault.

LOL! Next time a major storm is coming towards your home and the state orders you to leave as soon as possible, do you:

A) Leave and save yourself

B) Hang on a little longer, surfing the internet for good deals on Hotels.com

C) Stay in the city, hope you live long enough to loot Foot Locker

Personally, I'd choose "A", and then wing the whole "OMGZ I'm in another town! Where everz will I sleepz!"

First, I laughed my assed off watching Myers' reaction.

Second, Kanye was not very eloquent but he had big balls to express his opinion.

We can all play the blame game but here's the facts - New Orleans appeared to have been spared the wrath when Katrina turned toward Mississippi. The levees broke Monday morning, when New Orleans residents believed they had survived the worse. Did anyone anticipate that the levees would give? Hell no.

The response has been lousy and the images excruciating to watch. But I don't think that anyone anticipated the disaster that occurred. What does that say about Homeland Security and their response to a future terrorist attack? I leave it to you.

That reply had really nothing to do with the fact that the ones that are there were the ones that were too poor to up and leave.

With gas prices sky high and people already poor, what'd you expect them to do, walk? It's Louisiana and hot as hell, they wouldn't of made it five miles. Not everyone has relatives in another state and not everyone has private stashes of money. Some people live paycheck to paycheck, some people just flat out don't have any money.

I hope Bush gets impeached.

Kanye is a cool guy for speaking his mind on the issue. He was angry about how the media has portrayed the lootings.

He was wrong about the Bush comment, Bush hates poor people.

He's not doing this for CD sales, he probably gets about $1 for each CD sold

He cant get much more attention than he already has, mother fucker was on the cover of Time for God's sake.

THATS ALL I GOTS TO SAY A-BOUT THAT.

You truely are an idiot. Possible storm genius, a hurrican MAY hit our city. When you don't make much you don't want to bet it all on a possible outcome.

Clearly you don't know shit about hurricanes. Whenever they hit the rich are long gone and the poor are huddled in the local storm shelter. Nice to see that you live in the real world.:applause:

Evacuating would have been simpler if Katrina hit a rich area, but keep in mind the vast majority of people stuck out there are low income families. Its not the first time the poor will get the shit end of the stick (like the Titantic), and it will not be the last.
