Kanye West is my hero
Wow, so you like his music but dislike his political opinions?
Read the post above yours, you turd.

Read the title of the thread. He is a hero. You're a turd too.
What? Was it a reference to one of his talentless "songs"? If so, I guess 5 people will catch it.

The best part of his little tirade was watching him stutter on live tv like a retard. Too bad Mike Meyers didn't reach across and slap him in the face like the bitch he is.

P.S. Kanye West is still a talentless piece of shit.

It's not a reference to one of his songs. If it was, more than 5 people will get it since his last album sold 3,000,000 copies and his new one is already close to selling 1,000,000 in it's first week of release.

How many people would get a reference to you?

No, he was making fun of someone from the OTT.

Christ, you seem to think I care what you have to say. Let me lay it down for you straight, I don't. You don't like Kanye? Fine. Do you think his message was dumb? Great. Do you want to kick his ass? More power to you; but don't push your stupid bullshit on me.

Keep your shit to yourself, because this thread is so full of turds that it's starting to smell.

AND....

Mike Myers was too busy pissing his pants to do anything. That's why I made this topic. Not because Kanye is the man (even though he is), or what he said was awesome (even though it was), but because it was completely unexpected and the other celebrities' reactions were hilarious.

There's a rumor going around that there's a remix of "Through the Wire" with the Kanye quotes mixed in. Looked it up, and haven't found anything. Anyone heard about this?

...tried to talk some sense in em
30 minutes later seen theres no convincing em
What more could you ask for? The international asshole
Who complains about what he is owed
and throws a tantrum like he is 3 years old
You gotta love it though somebody still speak from his soul

This was written way before what he said. Hes an asshole, but he speaks what he means. Might not be the time or place, but assholes cant help that much.

Also i guess alot of African Americans wish to sell CDS too like jesse jackson huh

Sorry man, ive agreed with some stuff you've posted but think about what your saying.

I disagree with what Kanye said but id like to see you on LIVE TV and just say what you feel in a shared 90 second segment and sound perfect. Everyone on TV uses Que cards, if they didnt, then they wouldnt have their thoughts in the order they planned to say it and they would blurt out things that they shouldnt say.

Think of mike myers and chris tuckers reactions to what he said, guess they are fucking morons for looking like idiots on television while being unscripted too huh?

I wrote that down so that non kanye fans see what kind of character kanye is. He himself says hes an asshole and hes stubborn(30 minutes later seen theres no convincing him)

So its how he is...hes not just doing it to sell CDs. Hell as stated earlier, he sold 3 million copies of his first album, and hes now on the ROC. After such a strong debut and being with a more recognized label(with Jay-Z one of the biggest rappers alive on his newest single), i dont think he really needed this "boost" in sales

Nice thread.

People should stop blaming and start helping, What have you personally done already to help?

The local government should have been more responsible and more prepared. Can't have the Feds kicking people out of their houses everytime there is a fucking storm -- the state govenment should have done more to get people on the move before the storm hit.

The federal government should have stepped in sooner. The only problem is, local government was responsible for trying to get the federal government involved, seems everyone dragged their ass. Still, pretty stupid of the federal government to wait that long -- they should have treated this like more of a 9-11 moment.

West should stop finger pointing and continue with his plans to help, and recruit others to help, and he should be the bigger man and reach across the divide to get everyone of every political party, persuasion, and belief motivated and into action.

The divisive bullshit in this country has got to stop. This should not be about politics, this should be about helping people.

BTW I just read your sig. That's HILARIOUS.

Some people will just never get it.. it's not about color, it's not about race, it's about who you are.

I'm so sick of people pulling the race card. Kanye, I love your beats and all, but your bitching was completely stupid and came with extremely bad timing. You were there to help raise funds for relief, not to publicly make yourself look like a jackass and knock the president. It was not about black people, it was about people in need of help and not everyone down in New Orleans and the surrounding area is black. It made me dislike you even more than from the time he claimed he "saved hip hop." Please stick to making music and stop criticizing someone whose job you couldn't even handle for one fucking minute.

the same assholes saying it is all about race are probabbly the same ones yesterday(group of 8) that decided to shoot at the people trying to fix the levy problem. now that is just plaing fucking stupid why the fuck would you shoot at someone trying to help???? I am glad that 6 of the 8 where killed. Lets cry racism because no one is helping them to there satisfaction and at the sametime shoot and try to kill the ones that are helping. I would not want to help if you shot at me. just goes to show the ignorance of a lot of the black people's mind set. I am not saying all as I know and am good freinds with many but there are some bad apples trying to bring others with them

you guys draw whatever conclusions you want from my last post, how ever if you gonna qute me quote the line that follows and states that my opinion is not that of all blacks. and yes I am racist I fucking hate everyone white black yellow green I hate them all

It's not a "arr $$$$$$ kike spic jew-fuck wetback aaah!" type of hatred, it's a "Yeah, most black people are ignorant" type of thing.

You're taking the actions of a few psychos and applying it to (most) of an entire group of people. You try and soften the blow by saying "most not all" but it's still the same thing, because it's still a gross generalization. If someone started saying that because of people like Charles Manson, Hitler, Timothy McVay, the Unibomber, Scott Peterson, etc. that most white people are ignorant, savage, or whatever, you'd be mad, because that's an incredibly ignorant statement.

That's what makes what you said racist. Because you've taken an extreme minority, and applied your opinions on them to the entire group. It's disgusting.

His beats are good. I'm a big fan of sampling. But his lyrics and voice suck and should stay out of the songs he produces. Stick to the beats.

And him "saving hip hop?" He didn't save anything. Hip hop is still in the same state as it was (shitty) before he started rapping. In fact, tons of people don't even know he said that. The people do know that he said that think he's a dumbass. And the mainstream MTV kiddies will praise him because he's all over the damn place.

Public Enemy front man Chuck D has written a new song addressing the natural disaster in New Orleans, Alabama, Mississippi and the issues that surround the region ravaged by Hurricane Katrina. In “Hell No We Ain’t Alright,” Chuck D sends a barbed message to government officials, the media, the military and even the Hip-Hop nation. The lyrics for the song were written on Sept. 2, the same day Kanye West rapped the treatment of African Americans suffering in the catastrophe live on the NBC television network. The rapper reportedly recorded the track over Labor Day weekend and is expected to distribute it shortly. Chuck D and Public Enemy have been long running activists in the rap community. Below are the lyrics to “Hell No We Ain’t Alright,” as written by Chuck D.

“Hell No We Ain’t Alright”

New Orleans in the morning, afternoon, and night
Hell No We Ain’t Alright

Now all these press conferences breaking news alerts

This just in while your government looks for a war to win
Flames from the blame game, names? Where do I begin?
Walls closing in get some help to my kin
Who cares? While the rest of the Bushnation stares

As the drama unfolds as we the people under the stairs
50% of this Son of a Bush nation
Is like hatin’ on Haiti

And setting up assassinations
Ask Pat Robertson- quiz him.... smells like terrorism.

Racism in the news/ still one-sided news
Saying whites find food/
prey for the national guard ready to shoot
‘Cause them blacks loot

New Orleans in the morning, afternoon, and night
Hell No We Ain’t Alright

Fires, earthquakes, tsunamis
I don’t mean to scare/ Wasn’t this written somewhere?
Disgraces all I see is black faces moved out to all these places
Emergency state, corpses, alligators and snakes
Big difference between this haze and them diamonds on the VMA’s

We better look/ what’s really important
Under this sun especially if you over 21

This ain’t no TV show/ this ain’t no video
This is really real/ beyond them same ole “keep it real”

Quotes from them TV stars drivin’ big rim cars
'Streets be floodin,’ B/ no matter where you at, no gas
Driving is a luxury
Urgency
State of emergency
Shows somebody’s government
Is far from reality....

New Orleans in the morning, afternoon, and night
Hell No We Ain’t Alright

I see here we be the new faces of refugees
Who ain’t even overseas but here on our knees

Forget the plasma TV-ain’t no electricity
New worlds upside down-and out of order
Shelter? Food? Wasssup, wheres the water?

No answers from disaster/ them masses hurtin’
So who the f**k we call?--Halliburton?

Son of a Bush, how you gonna trust that cat?
To fix s**t when help is stuck in Iraq?

Making war plans takin’ more stands
In Afghanistan 2000 soldiers dyin’ in the sand

But that’s over there, right?
Now what's over here is a noise so loud
That some can’t hear but on TV I can see
Bunches of people lookin’ just like me…

Chuck D is an old, old man, but as powerful as ever.

Racism in the news/ still one-sided news

This shows the power of message boards in the modern world. As far as I know, that's where that yahoo stuff came from, be interesting to know which board found it.

Though rap almost never sounds good reading it, this is no exception.

I wonder if people realize that Blacks are not the root of the problem in New Orleans....Its the POOR PEOPLE!!!! 40% poverty rate.....Why dont people realize this.....the Mayor shouldve brought fucking buses in to help the poor and HE couldve saved a whole lot of lives......by the Way I dont call Blacks African-Americans because they arent from Africa anymore before Im labeled a racist

The funniest thing is Kayne West said most of the things out of ignorance but somehow got the last part somewhat right. I guess I wouldn't go so much as to say George bush HATES black people since to people like him they need a lower class the fill in the poverty and do all the low class and minimum wage jobs. So I guess it's more of George Bush thinks Black people are inferior. Either way even though I don't like his music I thought it was really amusing that he said that.

Also to note his new album just came out so Somehow I think it might have been a publicity stunt on top ;)

I would be remiss to point out that, unfortunate as it may be, a rap does more to inform and motivate people than does any volunteer work, anonymous or otherwise. I don't imagine that you would deny that.

In addition, his point (among others) is that his sweat and $$ wouldn't be so needed if the federal government hadn't fucked up so criminally.

Thank you for the info myke. I've liked Public Enemy since "Fear of a Black Planet". I always thought they were one of the examples of what is RIGHT with rap. I'm glad to see that Chuck D is still staying active. I lost track of them in the 90's.

And to the person getting on Chuck for not getting down there himself, look at how successful Sean Penn was. We don't need more clebrities-cum-relief workers. He probably doesn't even have millions anymore either. But he is doing what he can, what are you doing?

My point is that he is NOT doing anything other than further inflaming the situation. His efforts would be much more valuable if he went down and (without promoting himself like the other celebrities that you mention) started helping people on the ground and gave money.

I think the racism charge is a load of bull and, in the end, is counter-productive. Chuck D is just like every other self-promoter (including Sean Penn) trying to advance his own agenda. And, like I said, that is worse than not doing anything.
I was planning on getting Kanye's new record eventually, but now I think I'll get it tomorrow. It was nice to see someone show some courage in the midst of an entertainment industry where it's fashionable to be anti-war and anti-Bush, as long as it doesn't hurt your record sales.
Wow I was late on this topic but this quote was the one I wanted to respond to first. Show courage? Show courage? Are you kidding me? The entertainment industry is saturated with anti-bush, I just think they are because every other entertainer is. I bet 95% of the entertainment industry is anti-war and anti-bush. The worst part about activist entertainers is that they would never voice there opinion if they had to go to a rally and deal with all the jokers that hang out there. They are just fortunate to have a voice that is broadcasted. Seriously, I think they just say shit to hear themselves talk. This one sentence is just my opinion but I think that rappers are egomaniacs anyways. I just got the Kanye album because I thought that he was an intelligent person (unlike most rappers) but this just shows me that his mind is full of plenty of irrational thoughts just like most entertainer turned activists.
I bet 95% of the entertainment industry is anti-war and anti-bush. The worst part about activist entertainers is that they would never voice there opinion if they had to go to a rally and deal with all the jokers that hang out there.
Uh, have you ever watched the country music channel? It's certainly not 95%

I'll agree that most of the entertainment industry is against the war and down on Bush, but recent poll numbers tell us that most of America is as well.

And there are plenty of activist entertainers that hang out at rallies all the time. Heck, Martin Sheen does it so much that once when he was holding up his famous "Impeach Bush" sign, someone else held up an "Impeach Martin Sheen" sign (a little humor for the West Wing fans ;) )
I think the racism charge is a load of bull and, in the end, is counter-productive.
In what way is it a load of bull? Is it because of the White House State of Emergency declaration from 8/26? (Link) Did that do an adequate job in showing reverence for all races? Especially since so much was done on the federal end between this press release and 9/1, right?

Does race not matter in a city that is 67.9% African-American?
Does it matter in a city where the percentage of people with Bachelor's of higher if 4% *above* the national average (31% to 27%)?
Does it matter that the employment rate is 3.1% lower in this more well-educated area?
Does it matter when median household income is $11,000 *lower* than the national average ($31,369 to $44,684)?
Does it not matter in a city with a 4% higher rate of families living under poverty (14.5% compared to 10.1) and a 10% higher rate of individuals living below poverty (23.2% compared to 13.1%)?
(All data taken from The US Census Intercensus 2004)

So, were black people drawn here because of poverty (and the fact that they must love to live in it), or was poverty drawn here because of the blacks?

Perhaps neither, you say? Would those of you who seem to think that race doesn't matter in this day and age, that any equally-qualified black man (or woman) has the exact same chance of getting the same job as an equally-qualified white man (or woman), say about this correlation of race and poverty? Would you simply say it's coincidence? Circumstantial? Perhaps even spurious?

The fact of the matter is that (1) NO has a far larger percentage of African-Americans than most cities (if not all, but I hesitate to say that), and (2) far larger percentage of families and individuals living in poverty. This is a pattern that simply can not be described as coincidence, unless you like to be overly simplistic and completely wrong.

Would you say that, in contemporary America, that equally qualified African-Americans have as much of a chance of getting housing (whether an apartment or a mortgage) as a similar white person? How about a car loan?

I do, for a cynical moment, want to thank those of you who seem to think that racism is dead in our society. Seriously. Not that you'll ever see my work (it's not bloody likely, since it involves reading, anyway), but I stand a very good chance of getting tens of thousands of dollars for research on housing discrimination based upon presumed race. For those of you who are bigoted but can't admit it, thank you. You keep me knee-deep in work, and well-paid in addition.

Dude, you definately got me on that one. I completely forgot about them. They could be the worst ones. It would be nice, If people would stop complaining and actually DO something. I am as guilty as the next man but people just want to get things done, they don't want to DO anything.
