I'm looking to upgrade my phone, and I can get a Katana for free or an Upstage for $80 after a $50 MIR. What would you guys do? I have an MP3 player already, but it's just a 512 Shuffle.

My younger brother has the upstage, very amusing phone. touch sensative, flip side and more. isn't the katana a wannabe razr?if you have the cash, go for the upstage IMO.

My older brother has an upstage too... it's a cool phone. And I agree about the Katana wanting to be like a RAZR.

Sounds like you're going with Sprint? If so, sign up for the SERO plan. I just did on the 29th, got the UpStage for $79 without rebates. Unlimited texting (SMS to any network), unlimited data (web browsing, radio, tv, etc) and 500 anytime minutes for $30/month. Killer deal.

It asks for an email address, just use [email protected] and then call the 1-800 number to order.

Oh, and in regards to phone, I researched the two (I was also considering a Moto Q) and went with the UpStage. Here's a handy comparison of the two: http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/compare.php?id[]=983&id[]=1112&id[]=&id[]=&id[]=

Big factors to note: UpStage is over 45% thinner, much more memory, supports EVDO (really fast web browsing), has a memory card slot, a better camera and is a hell of a lot more stylish.

Also, if you don't need the Shuffle anymore, let me know and I'll buy it. Or check my list.

Thanks. That link was really helpful.

I don't know if you're still looking, but this morning I traded in my UpStage for a MotoQ and it was the best choice I've made in a long time.

I actually kind of decided to stick with the free Katana. I have a good track record with Sanyo phones - they're pretty sturdy and reliable. But thanks; my friend has a Moto Q and loves it.
