Hmm... I want the HOME costumes... but not the game...
Does not compute.

The logic is sound. He knows he wants the game and will buy it, so a demo will not change his mind all that much. However, having Home costumes, even if it's just for looks, has more usefulness than just playing part of something he'll get to play the full version of at the end of February. Not to mention since they're releasing the demo that early, it's likely that there will be a public demo 1-2 weeks before the game releases.

This is especially so considering Home costumes cost money sometimes.

Even though the Killzone 2 rave cards are out, the demo won't be activated until the week of February 3 -- which really stinks! I was hoping to play it ASAP!

that sucks. i pre-ordered under the impression i'd be able to play it immediately. oh well, either way i'll get to play it a little sooner.
demo on the psn will be available but only after release

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/05/scea-killzone-2-demo-exclusive-to-gamestop-on-psn-after-releas/

also no preorder demo for uk. anyone willing to share? ^^ lol
Actually, according to this article SCEE says Europe will get a demo, but an exact date has not been set. So, you might even make out better than us US folks if it comes to the PSN roughly around the same time but don't have to pre-order at a specific place.

Actually, I don't want the game, but I do want the HOME costumes. I'm quite fine playing Resistance 2 still.

I hope gamestop handles this email system as they have for COD 5 and L4D: Meaning I want to be able to get a code without preordering.
On the fifth?

Thanks
On the GameStop website, it says that they'll start to e-mail them on February 3rd.

Just to let people know, the Demo will be out on the Europe PSN for Free. So I think it's a better deal to order from places other than Gamestop since you can just create an European account easily.
There's already Killzone 2 themes for free, so IMO the best choice is to order from Amazon for the free Home costumes, plus you get 2 of them, 4 including the female versions if you count that.

Picked up my code card today. I like the idea about getting the demo via the EU PSN account, but I have Gamestop credit anyway, so that's where I'm buying it.

I'm really hoping for a Collector's Edition in a NICE box. Not the normal cardboard boxes like the Resistance 2 CE. A steelbox would be awesome.
Do we know if Killzone will have a CE of some sort?
Doubt it. If there hasn't been anything on the GS Web site by now, I don't think there will be one.

Still haven't gotten my demo code, though now that I know the demo will be free from the Euro PSN, I'll just download it from that account on my system.

I remember recent CE that was announced hella close to release. I think it was Mass Effect.
Some news:

GameCrazy is giving away a T-shirt with their pre-order (scroll down to bottom): http://www.gamecrazy.com/games/game.aspx?id=11008&LF=STL

There is a steelbook case edition in Australia it appears (I would love a steelcase edition):
http://www.n4g.com/ps3/NewsCom-262947.aspx

It has been confirmed that there will be no Special/Collector's Edition of Killzone 2:

Bummer!
Thanks for that! I will update the OP and credit you.

I reserved KZ2 at EB today and got the demo code card. I'll probably go back to the store tomorrow and cancel the pre-order and use the $5 towards Star Ocean 2 for the PSP. I would have just kept the pre-order if I didn't have to wait a few weeks to actually play the demo. It's bad enough you have to reserve it just to be able to play the demo in the first place.
