That's about $100 more than this thing is worth. Sorry to thread crap, it's just a glorified web cam.
of course it's not for the hardcore shooter or rpg gamer, but for what it does, it's actually pretty sweet. the good games are a hell of a workout and tons of fun to boot. sure the netflix client sucks something fierce, but they'll no doubt fix that at some point.

it's definitely not for everybody, and there's a lot about it that could be fixed or improved, but it's a tad more than a glorified webcam.

Glorified webcam or not, it moved gaming forward and it sold/sells really well (even if its a Wii type sales comparison, where sales does not necessarily = hardcore gamer prowess / performance), and I personally like it, so good enough for me.

You and your Best Buy Deals... Thanks for the heads up but you are such a BB Idealist. 95% of what you post would never pass with the CSR at my Best Buy. Why would they ever give you a $25 GC next wee IF you purchased the kinect at a great discount this week?... How does that fit in their price guarantee?

95%? gonna take a wild guess and say that you;
1-Haven't made a post on the BB forums page when denied a price match like I've linked numerous times on CAG.
2-Havent interacted with the BB corp reps either

To get this pm just come back and say "I bought kinect last week and now your offering a $25 gc for the same purchase here's my receipt & it's w/i 30 days".
I'm a price match monster, most of the deals I post I've done alot $1527 spent since Jan. over $300 pending. 20,000 bonus points listed under RZ gamers club & a RZ silver thru 2012 already.

Several CAG's listened to me and followed up thru the forums page and were
assisted accordingly

I've got $3071 spent on my RZ account since January. Everything was spent on video games and accessories. I'm in my best buy all the time. I certainly know their policies.

Earned to date: 18500 bonus points

I'm in there so much that I know CSR is sick of me. I'm not going to waste a good half hour either in store or on their forums just to get a $10 RZ certificate.

Their is no reason why if the Kinect is $150 next week with a $25 GC (Net cost = $125) and it is $139 this week that they would allow you to buy it for $139 and give you the entire $25 GC next week. At best you should get get the difference in net cost ($14).

If I lived in SoCal and had several different BB locations at my disposal then I'd challenge the CSR asscoiates regarding implementation of their policies more often, but truth be told I had a manager ask me to stay away from the store for two weeks after I lost it when I was denied trade-ins because I didn't have a receipt showing proof of purchase at my best buy when it is a no receipt store per the website. I was told I was abusing the system because I was purchasing a game for $20 and then trading it in that same week for $25.

I'm glad that you are posting these deals. Your logic has been spot on but understand not everyone that shops at best buy has the success that you have been reporting.

Confused? You said 95% of the time you'd be denied the deals I post? Are you then overspending 95% of the time? The time it would take to post on the BB forums page would equal the time to post on CAG & since your shopping at BB as much as I do how could you call it a waste of time if the corp. reps make a difference on your future purchases.

At first I had a problem getting gc price matches at BB so I made a post got a response confirming that I was correct, printed it out & got the deals. After doing it so many times now I'm familiar with the CS at 5 different BB's throughout NJ, PA & DE. Anytime they see me come to the counter they ask "who are you price matching now" but they know all my shit is straight, I ALWAYS have my receipt & access to the ad to prove the sale. Most comment that they're glad I have the receipt since so many people chuck them, run into situation where they need one & are SOL mad at the them.

Here's a link post the store locations that don't follow policy & send a pm to one of the Corp. reps alerting them to the fact the stores don't follow policy. They do all the legwork for you contacting the regional and/or store managers & they follow-up with you so if it where to happen a 2nd time they are able to make a more "stern" move.

I'm able to get YMMV pm's too mainly b/c of the frequency of me shopping there, the CSR will flat out say "your goin to spend it here anyway"...so much for customer loyality being dead.

I've spent hours on the phone with best buy csr, and arguing up and down in store, and on their forums.
They suck, I'm going to agree with GBAstar, not worth the trouble. Best buy sucks, worst customer service in the business.

Yeah, this is a real long shot. Recent example...Got MK on release with $10 gift card, price was 59.99. Went back this week with receipt and TRU ad for 39.99. They would only give me $10+tax back instead of $20 because I received the free gift card originally, even though MK itself was clearly marked as 59.99 on the receipt(they didn't deduct $10 off the price and charge for the gc like some do). I was content getting the 11.95 total back on my card, it's better than paying full price anyway.

don't waste time arguing just make 1 post, send 1 pm generally to Allan or Kyle, fill out the feedback section on the bottom of the BB receipt that's it. The Corp reps take it from there.

I did the same thing but they adjusted the price so I got the $30 back. I pm at my local BB alot & they do take into account how much your spending. Most of the gc offers this yr at BB I've price match retroactively & gotten the full cash value back.

You guys do know that Walmart.com has the Kinect for $139 w/ Bonus $25 eGift card right now. $4 ship or free Site to Store.

Right now it's a gimmick, but it gets Xbox into the market with the Wiimote. Even the PS3 Move sold a lot. Nintendo really tapped into a shovelware market aimed at the casual gamer and now everyone else wants their slice of the pie.

I played a few Kinect games, and the biggest issue is the lack of force/resistance (in addition to the games being very simplistic).

Yes enuf, I managed to figure that out im not stupid.
Kyle did nothing, and customer service told me there's not a damn thing they can do. They can't force their brick and mortar locations to follow the pm policy. WTF?

1-When did I call you stupid?
2-BB Corp can make B&M follow policy CS can't I found this out indirectly. I filled out the feedback & about a month later the CS reps that assisted me thanked me. They said those show up on review and positive ones help with raises & negative ones draw attention from Corp. If there is an influx of complaints + loss of money/customers this will make a difference.
