Kingdom Hearts DS, Mario and Luigi: BiS, Zelda Spirit Tracks $25 on Amazon

Exactly. I plan on returning a launch preorder of Zelda and picking it up at $25. Even with ECA/goldbox it was 28.89, so I'll be saving a couple bucks.
So which of these games do you think will eventually go lower and which will stick? I'm sick of buying games I know I won't get aroudn to playing for ages and then seeing it for lower while mine is still shrinkwrapped.
Well, take the example of other "new" Zelda games, in particular the portable systems' games i.e. Minish Cap, Oracle of Seasons/Ages, and the other DS Zelda game, Phantom Hourglass. Link to the Past was a repro, and of course many of the console Zelda games have been discounted here and there, greatest hits etc., but Zelda games tend to hold up very well and retain a good chunk of value.

From what I recall, rarely have (or were) any of these been discounted, most I believe were not reprinted and they all seemed to retain their value.

As for Mario and Luigi, just look at the first DS Mario and Luigi. Very hard to find, I don't think I ever saw it discounted, used copies still very expensive at Gamestop.

I say for $25 flat, both are worth picking up. I could see them going to $20 in the future with a remote possibility of $15-20, but they could just as easily sell out everywhere, never get reprinted, and command a premium in the future.
Do people not know that Amazon will refund your shipping costs if you ship a return back to them at your cost? If you ship it media mail w/DC, it'll be $2-3, and Amazon should refund all of that back to you, so you're not out anything. If you use their return label, it'll be $3 or $4 that gets deducted from the return, which doesn't make it worthwhile any longer.
Since when? The last and only time I returned something, there was no reimbursement because it was not due to their error. Can't really see the logic in Amazon paying for the return shipping if the customer pays it initially instead of using a cheaper method for them (prepaid label). How would they even verify how much it cost you?

Correct. Amazon will only reimburse shipping if you decline to use their pre-paid label and then they will only reimburse for a certain amount. I believe the last time I had to return something, they were offering like up to $4.30. I believe they require e-mail submission of a receipt. They will of course only reimburse shipping for legitimate return reasons. Returning to re-order for a lower price is not considered a legitimate reason. The item has to be damaged in transit, defective in some way or not what you ordered to qualify for a free return.

It depends which reason you select for your return. For example, if you say there was a lower price somewhere else, Amazon will say the return is not a result of their error and you will not be refunded shipping. If you pick that Amazon missed the estimated delivery date, the wording on the site is that they will refund you shipping cost. (up to 4.98)

You're absolutely right that neither of these games is likely to get much cheaper than $25 at retail, ever. But it's worth mentioning that, while Mario & Luigi games tend to go out of print, current-generation Zelda games do not.

If you get the postage through PayPal, it can cost $2-3 via First Class (which is MUCH better than Media Mail). DVD case games are at most $3 to send so a DS game would be a little cheaper (maybe 5-6 ounces).
Picked up Zelda this morning at BB by price matching it with the Target ad. Thanks CAG!
Are you allowed to do this online-- pricematching etc?

In for Zelda @ 23.75 even though I swore to myself no more games for a couple of months...couldn't resist, considering how the chances of it being cheaper are so slim....

how was it $23.75 vs $25?

I missed out on today's DOTD --The World Ends With You and Final Fantasy IV for $10 each...they sold out fast.

So as not to go out empty handed, I came back here and justified myself getting Zelda: ST since I was about to spend $20 anyways. :)

Thanks OP!

The last couple of returns I sent back to Amazon as true returns were done at my cost and covered by their refund of my postage. They didn't ask for a return shipping cost, they just sent me a second credit for the shipping cost, which was about the price I paid for it. I almost never have to send anything back to Amazon as a true return, since they're almost always the retailer with the cheapest price. Occasionally, they're not.

I put my return of one item (Inglorious Basterds on BR) into a recycled Amazon box with Amazon-provided air pack and it was 8.4 ounces, and $2.77 to ship with first class and DC.

At that weight, it's a wash between media mail and first class, so I'd rather send it first class and get my money back a couple days earlier.

I get 3 different types of packaging from Amazon (box, bubble mailer, or that really small box with the little window) so I usually just use a bubble mailer for games and save the boxes for my college books.

How does Bowser's Inside Story compare to Partners in Time? I played Superstar Saga and absolutely LOVED it, but I couldn't really get into Partners in Time...

Picked up Zelda and Mario & Luigi. With gold box on Zelda, free Prime shipping, and my $10 credit from buying New Super Mario Bros. Wii, that came to $38.75 total. Awesome, awesome, a thousand times awesome.

Edit: Thanks OP!

haha i gave in on the $25 zelda, damn you CAG, saving me money on deals, but i shouldnt be using for gaming. -_-
Excuse me. Quick Picks, not Gold Box.
Ah, thanks! Too bad it isn't on there.... Muramasa for 38, GOW:C for 35 and Pokemon Silver remake for 33 :D

Amazon is now again offering Mario and Luigi, but it's actually shipping through Target, so you can't use Prime shipping.

It's a lot better, story wise, though not as good as SS. But I've had more fun with BiS than I did with SS.

Glad to see it came back in stock at $25. Done.

It's been a DS buy-fest lately for me (6 within the last 3 weeks). Funny...since I haven't bought a DS game for 2 years.

*sigh* I'm so tempted by Zelda, but I *HATED* the last one so I should control my wallet :whistle2:/

Already have Mario & Luigi 3 of course

I'd get Zelda. It won't be $25 new for a long time. I also hear from review that it's a lot better than Phantom Hourglass. If you don't like it, you can probably sell it for the same price you got it.

Yeah, but I got stuck pretty fast in that last one :whistle2:/

I haven't liked ANY of the portable Zeldas since the first one, and I hate touch controls, so....

It's just I still have a warm spot for Zelda 'cause it was the first series I was nuts about, plus I did really like Wind Waker and some similar games.

Spirit Tracks is better than Spirit Tracks, I'm so in!
I got Zelda... for free.

My mom bought it for me. :)
nice my dad ended up buying me BIS

They won't give me a dime back for Spirit Tracks, I've emailed them several times in the last month for refunds, nothing. Between my friend and I, we pretty much think their customer service is crap. But in his case, he ordered a PS3 and a router and the boxes were pretty banged up.

fuck you CAG, fuck you. You too Amazon. Seriously. Making me order Zelda Spirit Tracks and Mario & Luigi. Even though I have several unopened DS games to get to yet, I can't help but order these because I know that even though it may be a long, long time before I ever get to them it will still be hard to find them at a price substantially better than this, if you would ever be able to find them at all. I still have an unopened copy of Partners in Time to get to, and before that M&L SS for the GBA.

Picked up the guide for LoZ as well because for some reason I just really like using the guide to go through the Zelda games. Dunno why but I have played through the last couple with the guide and for some reason find it really fun.

lol that's nothing, i have unopened games across all platforms. I don't even play games that much anymore.

I still have an unopened copy of Marc Ecko's Getting Up from a Circuit City sale a few years ago. CAG makes you do strange things sometimes like buy games you'll never have time to play :D. I got suckered into getting Spirit Tracks from Amazon even though I still haven't finished Phantom Hourglass. Or Minish Cap. Or Wind Waker. Or Ocarina of Time. Or A Link to the Past. Or even opened my copy of Twilight Princess, which I got from an Amazon sale a year or two ago...

Anyway, I can't speak for Spirit Tracks, but I HAVE actually finished the M&L games. Superstar Saga and Bowser's Inside Story are absolutely phenomenal.

Ugh. I thought I'd like Getting Up, because I loved the first Buffy game, and liked their Indiana Jones game, buuuuuut I guess nothing since. (Speaking of which, is The Collective still making that spiritual sequel to Buffy? I remember a preview a year or two back, and it looked awesome.)
