KOF 13 - $40 at Gamestop
Does it come with the soundtrack or was that an Amazon exclusive?
The copies that came with the Soundtrack has a gold square sticker on it so if you pass by Gamestop, just look. It was a preorder thing but my Gamestop had a bunch of copies (all with soundtracks) with only 3 preorders. So you maybe lucky.

Great, great game. My wife found a copy w/soundtack locally at Zia Records. Don't hesitate...unless, of course, in true CAG fashion you're waiting for it cheaper.

KoF 13 easily one of the best fighting games this gen. They don't pull the update version crap either (aka no ultimate KoF13 or KoF13 Arcade Edition). They do dlc, but its pretty reasonably priced and base package comes completely packed as is.

Avoid KoF 12 though...and this is coming from a major KoF Fan haha.
Besides KOF Ultimate Match 2002?
You mean 98 Ultimate match. 2002 was called unlimited match (which sadly never made a ps2 release outside japan). Both were upgraded remakes that came many years later and glad those did get release for the new crowd. Also those 2 being dream match years had something to do with it.

98 Ultimate was awesome, loved it on the PS2 thanks to the awesome 3D backgrounds. The XBLA version is a poor man's version. Still great but it has plain 2D backgrounds. Played the hell out of the PS2 version and it's my fav. KOF next to 96, 97, 98, 2003, and 13.

40 dollars is def. worthy purchase. Pretty much the best fighting game this gen by far. SSF4 is great and all but I've been always more of a SNK guy.

Online is still crappy, better than 12 but not great. They're suppose to release a patch for it but it's almost February, it's taking mighty freakin long. I hope they release more DLC, I would cream in my pants for a Boss Team DLC. BLITZ BALL!!!!!!!!!!

I'll probably bite on this when it hits somewhere below 20, since I'll probably be using this exclusively for local multiplayer. 2D fighting game online communities are so intimidating ._.

I personally want Geese Howard haha. He was the man.

I just want to complete my team with Vanessa ;_;

How much longer do you guys estimate until we see this game at the $20 price point? I was pretty tempted last night when I saw 34.99 (used)

Asian (Korea/Japan/China) underground arcades. Now that's intimidating.

It is really hard to say. On one corner its published by Atlus, and you know what happens with their games...

For comparison sakes, it took kof 12 little over 2 years to drop to the 20 dollar new mark (in fact around the same time of release of kof 13). So if it follows that pattern, kof 13 may drop in the 30 new range later this year and then 20 dollars when kof 14 comes out (which is not even announced to exist yet mind you).

Just a grain of salt guess though.

If you're looking for the soundtrack, don't fret too much. From what It looks like, any "original" stock (from when they ordered at release) will include it. I picked up a copy from Play n trade a couple weeks ago and asked if they had any new copies. The guy pulled out a new copy with the soundtrack. It's wrapped in plastic around the game.

As long as the store still has the original stock and didn't need to order more copies (which is unlikely), chances are the store will have some. You should call and ask in advance.

The netcode was designed around the time SNES was cutting edge.

It's fucking horrific. Great offline play (insanely demanding execution wise) but this isn't playable online.

Unless you have locals to play this with, or a a fighting game enthusiast (that somehow passed on it at release) I'd wait for cheaper. It's gonna drop FAST with Skullgirls, Soul Calibur 5, and Street Fighter x Tekken all coming out in the next 6 weeks. Too many fighters all at once = quick price drops.

As much as I love the KoF franchise, all fighting games drop significantly in price. Heck, I won't even buy Street Fighter x Tekken as soon as it comes out because I know that if I can wait until the end of summer, I could pick it up for $35. I've learned my lesson from jumping the gun with Mortal Kombat (and Street Fighter IV and IV Super) before. My guess is that by this summer, KoF 13 will be $30. A friend of mine who plays fighting games religiously said KoF 13's netcode needs to be patched, and he refuses to play it online until then so waiting would be a good decision anyway.
