Kucinich is Out
He'll never believe you, why do you bother?
He won't read the article, either.

It's a combination of things in Bob's case:

1) he desires to believe or not believe things - if you notice, he never stakes a position until the bulk of us chime in. when he does, he alludes to discussions in other threads, staking his territory as nothing more than a contrarian. he is what we are against. if we say the sky is blue, he'll argue against it. Watching his mental gymnastics as he tries to retain the plausibility of whatever preposterous position he holds does amuse the shit out of me. His posts show that he's interested in being right - that is, whatever is the first thing that comes out of his mouth is the true perspective. He then doubles and triples down on it, never budging an inch. The closest he came to admitting he runs his mouth like a fucking idiot was last week when he was dumb enough to say Limbaugh never commented on the frequency of Fluke's sexual activity. Even then he shifted gears, moved goalposts, and tried to hide behind dumbass excuses like "well, I don't listen to Limbaugh much anyway" - and my personal favorite "I don't use google all that much."

You don't use google? You don't search the internet? That's your defense? That's comedy goddamned gold right there. So, no, he won't admit it, but it does amuse the bejeesus out of me to see someone try to cling to the righteousness of their position by claiming they don't search the internet that often.

2) Bob's mind is one in which any and all indirect evidence is worthless. Anything that requires inference, even if it exists in abundance, does not matter to Bob. He wants direct proof. He wants a video of a cackling villainous Republican saying "I can't wait to redistrict ohio to fuck Kucinich out of congress!" and cackling like Dr. Claw before he'll even concede the slightest thing. Even then? Videos can be faked. This is the post-photographic era. Birth certificates are not real, videos can be falsified, etc.

Bob likes to act as if he's above the fray, but he really does have a particular vested interest in a desired outcome - whether it's the perpetuation of the enslaving oligarchical state we're working towards becoming thanks to Republicans, or if he just wants to take the piss of half a dozen people on a video game website, I'll never know. He's learned semantic techniques to disregard evidence that shows him to be someone who speaks with little to no information on a subject.

You're right. But watching him squirm is amusing.

It was fun to watch Houdini get out of the drowning box, not to watch him be put into the box.

Oh, hey, look - big wall of text and, once again, Mykie has to go around twisting my words into something I never said, then attacking me based off of what I never said.
It's not just a trend this week that you make up crap and claim someone said it. It's pretty universal.
And, for more fun, Mykie links to an article that talks at length about gerrymandering. Interesting.

"1. to divide the constituencies of (a voting area) so as to give one party an unfair advantage "

Yup, no attempt to pass the buck off on anyone attempting to subvert the system to get this one guy out of politics. Which, of course, is what started this entire argument when Mykie posted about how Ron Paul supporters would come up with all kinds of "conspiracies" as to why Paul might fail to get re-elected.

Meanwhile, not the slightest bit of acknowledgement that maybe, just maybe Kucinich failure to be re-nominated is in any way related to idea that the people just liked the other candidate more...

Kucinich received an estimated 70% of the votes in the primary from the area covered by his former district. This is the kind of fact that supports the idea that the primary reason Kucinich failed to get the nomination was due to redistricting. But, I guess, facts aren't so fun to deal with. It's much more fun to speculate about evil Republicans hiding in the shadows, eh?

However, more interesting is the fact that Kucinich's numbers had been falling in his area for awhile. Between is flip-flopping stance on abortion, his anti-free speech support for an anti-Flag burning amendment and his crazy UFO talk, his own supporters have been dwindling in recent years... So, when a more-liked opponent comes along, it's no surprise when he goes down.

Everyone gerrymanders. It sucks, but it's not going away anytime soon and whoever's in power every 10 years gets the advantage.

Maybe. I think the public is willing to look the other way when it's shave a little here, shave a little there. But if a scandal puts the issue in the spotlight, it's going to be hard to explain those maps in Mike's link. That shit is ridiculous.

Say you accept the fact everyone gerrymanders, it is a useless factoid if not everyone gerrymanders to the same extent. The Republicans cannot actually govern, so they rely on redistricting and voter suppression to help them win elections.

To expand on something else myke said, the effect of the cag cons obstinacy is that the conversation is never advanced. I think it is intentional.
That'd probably be helpful if I gathered by news by frequently searching Google.
Eat a dick.

Don't forget stuffing the courts and outright fraud. God's will, etc.

A challenge to anyone with basic reading ability and basic comprehension skills - What's the difference between these two statements?

Lord knows we've been trying to find someone help you with this for years. It's a real treat to see this kind of breakthrough in you, Bob.

When you find them, let me know - it'd be a treat to have a vs. discussion with someone who does have basic reading/comprehension skills. :D :D :D

Yeah, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of the Dems helped them. Some politicians are desperate to hold on to their seats, and what better way then to stack the deck in your favor.

I like Kucinich and Ron Paul. Kucinich loses, Paul is retiring from Congress. Both events sadden me. Maybe I've been wrong all along, and I'm not a centrist, I'm actually an extremist on both sides.

There's nothing extreme about either candidate.

On redistricting, Timothy Johnson of Illinois has been redistricted and will be facing off against another incumbent Republican, John Shimkus. Shimkus is garden variety stooge, Johnson is anti-war and anti-PATRIOT Act.

A good quote from the article:
So let’s recap the state of mental health in establishment Democratic circles: the President who claims (and exercises) the power to target American citizens for execution-by-CIA in total secrecy and with no charges — as well as those who dutifully follow him — are sane, sober and Serious, meriting great respect. By contrast, one of the very few members of Congress who stands up and vehemently objects to this most radical power — “The idea that the United States has the ability to summarily execute a US citizen ought to send chills racing up and down the spines of every person of conscience” — is a total wackjob, meriting patronizing mockery.
He should have added in Obama's signing of the anti-protest bill too.
